it is nice experience to stay in this hotel. the hotel is hidden in a small lane, so it is hard to find, but the architecture is traditional KYOTO style and is quite peaceful thanks to its location. the hotel is quite close to metro stations and bus stops, and it is only ten minutes' walk from it to shijo kawaramachi. the room is warm and exquisitely designed. we are really satisfied about it. the hotel does not provide breakfast, but there is quite a lot of options on the main street just a few steps from the hotel. there is a large supermarket on that street so it is convenient to buy some groceries.

the stairs to the second floor is too narrow to let go luggages. the check-in location is four KARASUMA stations away, opposite the KYOTO station, which can be a bit of a hassile. the cleaning service is not arranged daily and can be occasionally forgotten.

The location is about 10-15 mins walk away from the Train Station and will get you where you want to go. The bus stop is also about 5 mins walk away, which is the better option depending on your destination.

The bed could have been a little better, but that's a personal preference and probably just a nitpick. On my stay, the front door didn't close properly on its own, therefore it wasn't locked if the person who went in/out didn't push it to close. However, the area-even at night, felt safe.

Lation, the quietness, the suite with the tatami is great. love the amenities, like washing machine and microwave and grill toaster.

Room a little dusty, should have more instructions on where to leave the trash and how to find stuff in the room, for example, second roll of toilet paper. Dishes are located too high to reach. No staff on site but an emergency phone to call. But, we made it like home after the first night. No big deal. Stairs are narrow for big luggages.

This is great place, good location in a quiet lane off the street. The small apartment is comfortable, with AC, a kitchenette and excellent shower. There is a nice hang-out area in the lobby of the building. However, we stayed 5 nights and the bedsheets were not changed, nor was the apartment cleaned during this period. Otherwise, all good.

Everything was great. The apartment was built and fitted out to a high standard. It was also a modern take on a classic Japanese design: the machiya style. With lots of traditional and modern design features. Also in a nice quiet area with restaurants and bars not far, easy acees to the subway, and even Gion being walkable (about 30 minutes)

We stayed here for 3 night during our honeymoon trip and they gave us a box of chocolats and a cute note as a gift. Very cute and kind! Their check-in desk is very close to the train station. Easy to contact them via mail during the stay and they respond very quick. We made use of luggage service with them which was very convenient.

This place was the highlight of our trip! Tucked away in a quiet and beautiful neighbourhood in Kyoto. My famoly chanced upon a kaiseki restaurant steps away from this inn, which was another highlight of our trip. Every detail in the room was an art. We spent the second day relaxing in the room as it rained the whole day. There is a kitchen and washer in the room, which was a plus!

Everything was perfect!

Big bed, water pressure, spacious bathtub, spacious bathroom, air conditioner.

The position of the bed was uncomfortable for our legs to pass through in the other corner, cleaning only one time in 5 days, and just for changing the towels and taking the garbage; what was supposed to be cleaned are the floors and the toilet.

We had a lovely stay at the Machiya Kazahaya. The walking distance from Gion was really practical (20-30 min walking, with a nice walk through the shopping center). The staff was friendly and really kind, they assisted us with our arrival and check-in and spoke great English. The room had everything we needed and the place was beautiful ! Great value for money. 100% recommend

Loved the aesthetics, absolutely gorgeous. Bed was big and really comfortable and the complimentary coffee/tea was lovely. Free water bottles too in the fridge. Just a beautiful place.

The air conditioning in our room, 101, made a bit of noise and you could hear people above you (but granted, this is a wooden house so it is expected)
