- location is excellent, very nice quiet area and accessible - employees at the reception are very helpful and nice, and they speak good English (good recommendations thank you!) - hotel is new, clean, rooms are spacious and comfortable, towels are soft, welcome little gifts are cute - the lobby with all sorts of free drinks and treats starting from 11:00am - possibility to do a laundry for like 400-600 yen I have not tried the breakfast so I cannot give a review about it

- as expected the hotel has frost glass windows which cannot be opened (this is disclosed in their page). This being said, the opacity was higher than i imagined and I did not expect the room to be so dark all day - had to turn the lights on even during morning . I did not mind because I was mostly outside but it is good to know for people who are light sensitive - there was an « air machine sound » (not the AC) on and off in the room during the night, like the distant sound of a washing machine, which could be slightly annoying

A MUST stay in this boutique hotel when visiting Kyoto. It is tucked away on a quiet street and very close to public transportation, Nishiki market and Gion. Our room was clean, spacious, had a king size bed and a bathroom with rain shower. The staff was welcoming, polite and helpful (we liked the small card with QR codes that was provided to us upon check-in containing recommendations for restaurants, coffee shops, etc.). We really enjoyed small snacks that were prepared daily. The hotel is one block away from an amazing coffee shop called Goodman Roaster (hotel's recommendation, which became my absolute favorite).

Hotel Review I recently stayed at this charming little hotel and had a pleasant experience overall. The hotel is small and cozy, with a welcoming atmosphere. The rooms, while compact, were cute, clean, and thoughtfully arranged to make the most of the space. One of the highlights of my stay was the staff. They were incredibly helpful and friendly, always making sure guests felt welcome and cared for. Their hospitality truly stood out. The location is decent, about a 10-minute walk from the nearest station, which might feel slightly inconvenient with luggage but is manageable. my overall experience was nice, and I would recommend this hotel to those looking for a simple, clean, and welcoming place to stay.

However, there were a couple of drawbacks. The hotel doesn’t have a professional kitchen, so whenever meals were being prepared, there was a lingering fish smell throughout the property. This was a bit unpleasant. Additionally, the food options were exclusively Japanese cuisine, which might not be ideal for international tourists looking for more variety.

The location of the hotel in Kyoto was perfect—centrally situated with easy access to a wide variety of restaurants and close to a station. It made exploring the city incredibly convenient. The hotel itself is very new, and it shows in the modern, clean, and spacious rooms, which provided a comfortable and relaxing stay. One of the standout features was the small room where guests could sit and enjoy drinks at no extra cost. It was such a thoughtful touch and really added to the overall experience. The amenities were top-notch, and the room even had a speaker, which was a nice little luxury.

The only downside I would mention is that if you're planning to rent a bike for multiple days, there is no designated place to store it at the hotel. This could be inconvenient for guests who want to cycle around the city for extended periods.

There is more than one General Kyoto hotel. This one was a fanatastic sight seeing base. It is 2 stops up from Kyoto Central station. The Gion district is a 20 minute walk, the Castle is 20 mins etc. It is a very safe neighbourhood and saturated with restaurants meters from the door. It is a quiet sanctuary. The hotel and lounge felt brand new. Very very clean and tastefully done. The breakfast was really good with a choice of fish or meat with a small buffet of pastry/bread style to fill up on if you wished. After 2 days you felt confident enough to drop in for a break and then set off to a different part of the city. If you have an IC card you just tap and go on the subway or bus. The municipal transport is so reliable, clean and safe in Kyoto that you wonder why the car was invented. A perfect base for a short stay.

Nothing. Everything was handled by the helpful staff.

The rooms were so big and clean! We loved it! With a nice welcome cookie gift and when you check out also some nice present. It’s near the metro station and like 10 minutes to the Nishiki market. The free lounge, where you can drink beer, soft drinks, tea or water. Also they have nuts, soba noodles, dried fruits. They have a washer/dryer combination. The staff is there 24 hours and their English is very good, even helped us with sending our luggage from Kyoto to Tokyo.

They don’t clean your room if you stay for 3 days. Only towel service. But it’s ok. Like at home you don’t clean your room/bed sheets every 3 days.

Gorgeous boutique hotel. The rooms were cute and cosy and to a high standard. They had happy hour in the afternoons which was great after a day out. It was self serve beer, wine, coffee, tea and soft drink. They also had snacks too munch on. Breakfast was also different and lovely. Reception staff always helpful whether it was getting you a cab and advising the driver in Japanese on where you wanted to go or organising to have your luggage transported to your next destination for a fee. Hotel was located in a quiet street but also within walking distance to restaurants and shopping precinct.

Everything! The room and facilities were amazing. The location was very convenient being close to two subway stations and close to convient stores and many restaurants and shops. The staff was lovely and fantastic. Nami found for us a last minute tea ceremony spot, Choi and one gentleman (that I forgot the name) gave us great recommendations for local spots. They also provide you with maps with restaurant recommendations, cafes, public baths around the hotel.
