this is my first visit to Kyoto after the long corona absence. i chose here because I stayed here the last time I came to Kyoto. it is close enough to every major temple in Kyoto. I like the laundry machine! i also enjoyed the cozy atmosphere.

two comments only. 1) the mattresses were a little too soft for me so I used futon on the tatami during my stay this time. 2) it would also be great if there is more light in the living room. it is very machiya now with one lamp. it’s nice and romantic. but sometimes it’s nice to have some extra lights and make the room brighter.

I like that it felt like what I could think is a traditional Japanese style home with new modifications. Keyless entry (just need code). Slippers available for the exact number of guests stated. Manager was responsive and concerned that I will be able to get into the home even when late at night. Inviting dining area and heated rug. A house guide was available to help us figure out all the gadgets available, unlike a previous home that took forever to figure out the water heater during this winter time. Appreciate all the bath accommodation, especially when travel caused a late arrival to settle for the night. A toilet was available on both floors, special slippers for restroom included. We did not use the nespresso machine, the guide did not mention if it was complimentary. The raised beds were extremely comfortable... We were on our 3rd night of travel when we arrived and my husband was finally snoring... Not like that was a good thing for a peaceful night, but he needed it! Love that there was heating on all available rooms.

It was hard to climb the stairs using slippers. The vanity mirror needs direct light for the face if one can be added, or to provide a plug-in magnifying mirror with light and a nearby stool. Shower door was more difficult to close when water made it wet, it was not easy to slide to begin with. A toaster would have been a bonus.. Eben though I reviewed the entry instructions, I should have screen shot a copy because my reception was poor and I had to share the file with a friend to open and read to me from her home. Need a full length mirror upstairs for getting dressed, as for downstairs the only one available is in the shower.

If you are after authentic Japanese accomodation in a great location then this is the place to stay. Our host was lovely and great with communication. We loved the garden and the bathtub. Close to shops, subway and temples this is a great place to stay. Highly recommend.

Lovely Japanese style house with a small garden. great to have a kitchen with a fridge and Nespresso machine etc. to make your own breakfast. Situated in a quite alley only 20 minutes by bus from Kyoto station.

Some water damage in the bathroom.

The Nakano An was a lovely Japanese house. It was super clean. We loved having a washing machine! It was in a good location near the Nijo Castle.

There was nowhere comfortable to sit around which was a shame after long days walking around Kyoto.

Relatively convenient location , just along Nijo castle. Has all the equipment for family’s stay(dad mum and I)

Bath tub is a bit out of dates.
