The "ryokan" is super clean, looks brand new but still with a charming traditional flair to it. They hit a good balance between a modern hotel and a ryokan, so it's not a traditional ryokan per se but you still get that feeling in the tatami rooms but with modern amenities. The staff is also very very nice and welcoming.

It's a bit far from everything, about a 15mn walk from the Kyoto Station so it's not too bad but it is a bit far from the main attractions in Kyoto.

Very professional and polite staff! You are greeted with a smile and the staff is ready to explain anything about the room or the proceedings during your stay if you do not understand. The room is traditionally Japanese for the full experience. The room is also as clean as can be and you are provided with yukata (evening clothing), fridge water and a welcome treat! There is also an onsen at the top floor! It is okay to arrive before you check in time and leave your baggage at the reception in case you have bo other choice than to arrive early. Same goes for after checking out: the friendly staff told us it was okay to leave our baggage for pickup, which was 4 hours later! Really helped us out as it was pouring outside.

There is not really any major thing that I disliked. Maybe the onsen view (the staff pointed out there was a view), but there is a roster placed in front of the window at viewing height. Probably for safety. We enjoyed the onsen experience nonetheless!

Everything! It's a traditional inn experience with all the staff wearing Yukata and being extremely nice. The room was quite big with separate toilets and a huge wardrobe. It was quiet at the time of our stay. You can use Yukatas in the hotel included in the price They have public baths that we enjoyed a lot (on the top floor). The dinner we had was fantastic with many options (I took beef with Wagyu that came with 7 other plates of vegetables, miso soups, tofu, rice, etc''' My partner took the sushi option that was delicious as well and plenty to eat).

Futons are futons (but I would recommend it anyway for the experience)

Seriously best hotel we booked in all of Japan, and we booked 3 before this. Staff went the extra extra mile, very clean and authentic Japanese experience. It was also the biggest hotel we've been to. Location was good from the station, to the main shopping district is a little far but overall amazing experience. If you don't mind travelling like 20 minutes by bus to the shopping district (we didnt) then it's phenomenal location

Honestly nothing, if I had to be super super nitpicky then it would be the fact that it takes 20 minutes to go to main shopping area by bus. But if that's a long time to you you need to reconsider your privilege. Also like 5 minutes from Kyoto station.

I liked the traditional Japanese style of the room with tatami mats and futon beds. I loved the shower room and the lighting at the sink/dressing area in the room which made it easier to get ready for the day. The staff taught me how to put on their traditional kimono which was very nice. The room was clean too and it is in a great location. We could see Kyoto tower from our room. We didn't get time to use any of their facilities e.g. a communal bath or tea/coffee in the lobby but overall everything was good.

Perhaps the only two things I didn't like was that the hand washing facility after using the bathroom was in the room and not in the bathroom itself. That was a little uncomfortable. Second, the A/C can be better. It made noise if you turn it on fully and if you use the silent mode, then it doesn't turn on fully, Overall, we had a great stay.

Please note I have previously submitted a review for my stay at this property. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed it very much, so added an extra night. Perhaps this is why I've had 2 requests to rate the property. In summary, the staff couldn't have been more courteous or helpful. The room was well-prepared, comfortable and very clean, nice amenities, good shower, plenty of hot water and the Toto (look it up)! For sleeping, the futon on the first night was reasonably comfortable but adding a 2nd futon (double-storey futon!) made my hips very happy for the remainder of the stay.

Spotless facilities and a keen eye for comfort. My room was exceptionally comfortable and welcoming. The bath was relaxing and very clean. My breakfasts every morning were perhaps my favorite meals I had during my stay in Kyoto. But the best part was the staff. I have been all over the world and I have never met a more kind and caring staff who genuinely cared about my experience and comfort. I cannot say enough kind things about them all. Thank you!

I have nothing bad to stay. I had an incredible stay!

I really enjoyed the ryokan experience, the staff was extremely hospitable, even showing you to your room and the interior of the room. My futon was made and the staff changed the size of my yukata without even making it obvious (guess I was smaller than they expected). The staff remembers you as a guest; I accidentally spoke in English once at check in and every staff would use English to introduce things to me. I had the Kaiseki meal and I would say I really enjoyed it, the staff would painstakingly introduce you to each ingredient, how to enjoy it and it was delicious.

Having never stayed in a Ryokan before, this was a great first time experience. Definitely go for one of their meals, it was a pleasant experience. The public bath was mostly empty and the staff were mostly nice. Room was way bigger than we expected; the bathroom could have used a little more space. We barely used the shower but was nice as well. The owner spoke English and it is way easier to interact with him than anyone else. The staff during our dining was excellent as well. The beef dinner is a must try. They serve a bunch of smaller dishes as well.

The public bath was not squeaky clean but I am nit -picking. The shower area was clean however and they had all the toiletries you would need post-bath. They did have a problem running my credit card but figured it out in the end. Was scary for a bit. Definitely find the owner (younger guy) and not the older staff. The blanket was a little short for me (6 ft) but I did manage to grab another one from the closet.

Friendly, helpful staff speaking good english. Spotless cleaning, beautifully arranged rooms with everything necessary. Loved the provided yukata, when I went to the onsen it was empty as well. My room was one of the simpler ones, but had a great view of the Nidec tower. I think my pictures don't do it justice...

A bit of a walk to the station, but that's really the only thing, and I managed to do it in 32° heat with two large suitcases, so I guess nothing to complain about.
