Seriously best hotel we booked in all of Japan, and we booked 3 before this. Staff went the extra extra mile, very clean and authentic Japanese experience. It was also the biggest hotel we've been to. Location was good from the station, to the main shopping district is a little far but overall amazing experience. If you don't mind travelling like 20 minutes by bus to the shopping district (we didnt) then it's phenomenal location
Honestly nothing, if I had to be super super nitpicky then it would be the fact that it takes 20 minutes to go to main shopping area by bus. But if that's a long time to you you need to reconsider your privilege. Also like 5 minutes from Kyoto station.

I liked the traditional Japanese style of the room with tatami mats and futon beds. I loved the shower room and the lighting at the sink/dressing area in the room which made it easier to get ready for the day. The staff taught me how to put on their traditional kimono which was very nice. The room was clean too and it is in a great location. We could see Kyoto tower from our room. We didn't get time to use any of their facilities e.g. a communal bath or tea/coffee in the lobby but overall everything was good.
Perhaps the only two things I didn't like was that the hand washing facility after using the bathroom was in the room and not in the bathroom itself. That was a little uncomfortable. Second, the A/C can be better. It made noise if you turn it on fully and if you use the silent mode, then it doesn't turn on fully, Overall, we had a great stay.

Please note I have previously submitted a review for my stay at this property. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed it very much, so added an extra night. Perhaps this is why I've had 2 requests to rate the property. In summary, the staff couldn't have been more courteous or helpful. The room was well-prepared, comfortable and very clean, nice amenities, good shower, plenty of hot water and the Toto (look it up)! For sleeping, the futon on the first night was reasonably comfortable but adding a 2nd futon (double-storey futon!) made my hips very happy for the remainder of the stay.

Having never stayed in a Ryokan before, this was a great first time experience. Definitely go for one of their meals, it was a pleasant experience. The public bath was mostly empty and the staff were mostly nice. Room was way bigger than we expected; the bathroom could have used a little more space. We barely used the shower but was nice as well. The owner spoke English and it is way easier to interact with him than anyone else. The staff during our dining was excellent as well. The beef dinner is a must try. They serve a bunch of smaller dishes as well.
The public bath was not squeaky clean but I am nit -picking. The shower area was clean however and they had all the toiletries you would need post-bath. They did have a problem running my credit card but figured it out in the end. Was scary for a bit. Definitely find the owner (younger guy) and not the older staff. The blanket was a little short for me (6 ft) but I did manage to grab another one from the closet.

I really enjoyed the ryokan experience, the staff was extremely hospitable, even showing you to your room and the interior of the room. My futon was made and the staff changed the size of my yukata without even making it obvious (guess I was smaller than they expected). The staff remembers you as a guest; I accidentally spoke in English once at check in and every staff would use English to introduce things to me. I had the Kaiseki meal and I would say I really enjoyed it, the staff would painstakingly introduce you to each ingredient, how to enjoy it and it was delicious.

Everything. From the moment you arrive the staff in this cute Ryokan are bending over to make sure you feel well taken care of. The rooms are nicely done in the traditional Ryokan style and the baths are very cool. I love the fact that they offer a laundry for the guest. This came in very handy because the summer in Kyoto is beautiful but very hot. An example of amazing customer service. I asked the manager where I could eat breakfast and he literally went walking down the block to make sure the local cafe was open. And he came back with a big smile. Wow great service. I highly recommend staying here.
Nothing negative.

You get 5 star treatment here, I felt like a rockstar here, and I hope they have a points card, because I’m staying here every time from now on. I dropped off my bags at the front desk in the morning and checked in later in the evening. They had my bags already in my room, the futon was already laid out, and they had already started the AC so the room was already nice and cool (on a hot September day). A staff gave me a full tour of the room in English, and I was able to get my questions answered. Breakfast was spectacular. As a fan of kaiseki, I was impressed with their preparation as well as execution. Food was wholesome and delicious. They are true to their promise of making their guests smile.
Not a fan of the slippers, like they’re not Left nor Right; they’re neither, and having grown up in the west, that just feels weird. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to them, to be fair, these slippers are not just exclusive to this place, you find these ambiguously sided slippers everywhere in Japan.

Very clean and comfortable room, helpful staff, and a nice bath on the top floor. Very good location not too far from Kyoto mainline station - you can walk it and there's also a convenient bus that stops just a few yards from the entrance - and there's a nearby metro station too. Our Kaiseki dinner was both abundant and delicious - we were well and truly stuffed by the end of that!
The dining room seemed a bit canteen-like when we visited, and our Kaiseki dishes were served rather faster than we could eat them (and we are no slow-pokes when it comes to eating) which unfortunately then made the whole thing seem a bit rushed. We were 5mins late for our sitting, but I can't imagine that was the cause of all that.

Very clean, beautiful, well located (30min walk to the center of Kyoto, 10min walk from the station), staff was very polite. We stayed for 2 nights and it was a very interesting experience sleeping on the tatami. We also tried the Japanese breakfast which was a very nice and unique experience for us.
It would be nice if they served meals in the room as other ryokans do.

We stayed in this ryokan for 2 nights and it was wonderful. The property itself was great but the staff were so friendly and helpful and they really made it even better. The room we chose was spacious and clean, and I loved the sento that was part of the hotel. We ate one dinner and one breakfast there and both exceeded expectations.
I'm not a huge fan of buckwheat pillows even though they are part of the traditional ryokan experience. I wish there were an option for softer pillows.
