This was the second Stay Sakura we stayed in after the one in Tokyo and it was once again a great experience. Room was the right size but if you want to keep all of the luggages open, that's not an option. We absolutely loved the possibility to wash our clothes and let them dry in the bathroom with the hot air blowing. We also had a small balcony but it was freezing cold the days we were there so we didn't have a chance to enjoy it. Bonus point the coffee/tea machine in the lobby. As for the location, it's 15 minutes by walk from Kyoto Station, it's in a safe and quiet area, Gojo metro station is close by and it's also easy to take the buses (we took one to Kinkaku-ji without problems). Value for money was fantastic!

I loved our stay here, the building is so cosy and inviting, free tea and coffee. The room was even better- we had such an intensively planned itinerary of sightseeing and I longed to get back to our cosy room. We booked the deluxe room as I saw some reviews about space I cannot recommend this enough it was so spacious! The amenities were spot on - the air option for the bathroom was so good for laundry, dried the clothes well. The bed was amazing after a long day of walking I also like the fact you are just left to your stay it’s unbelievably peaceful!

It is a bit of a walk from the main station etc but we got used to it, it also has supermarkets and food places very close by!

The deight of this hotel was the size of the room and its level of equipment. We had experienced a number of tiny Japanese hotel rooms, with no space beside the bed and barely anywhere to put luggage. This room had plenty of room and it also had a very nicely fitted in kitchenette, which enabled us to prepare meals for ourselves on occasion. The bed was also less hard than many.

There are many hotels of this chain in Kyoto and it was essential to use the exact address on Google Maps to find it. The room key didn't have the details on it either.

The location was an easy, level walk from the train station. City bus 50 stops close to the accomodation and subway station is close by. Free tea/coffee machine on ground floor and tables and chairs if you bring dinner back at end of day. Good choice of restaurants, cafes and convenience stores/supermarkets close to accomodation. Beds were super comfy, there was a small kitchenette with hot plate, fridge, microwave and utensils. Combined shower/bath wet room and seperate toilet. Best feature was the drying option in the bathroom, clothes dried overnight, laundry facilities on ground floor. We enjoyed our stay at Stay Sakura Hongan-ji and would recommend it.

Nothing.

- several bus stops or tube station nearby - convenience stores nearby - room was spacious for Japan (we had 3 big suitcases which made it a bit cramped) - the bathroom was the best we had in Japan (toilet and bath separate) - kitchen included (we didn‘t use it though) - free coffee and tea

- nothing - we wanted to use a luggage forwarding service, but the front desk kindly let us know that they only offer that service when sending your luggage to another STAY SAKURA, but sending it from a nearby convenience store is a good alternative

Family of four with two teens. We stayed in adjoining rooms that had a door between them. Lovely rooms, clean, tidy and comfortable. The bathrooms had a dry setting which was handy for washing light under clothes and getting them dry between washes. Bus stop right out the front and a Fresco supermarket just around the corner. Located within walking distance to Kyoto station or Gojo. Make sure to pick up some melon bread from the Fresco - delicious!

Rooms can feel a tad cramped with your baggage, and there is nowhere to sit other than your bed. Very quiet location but you can hear people moving about on the floor above. Tea towels would be handy for doing the dishes.

It takes only 10mins by bus to Kyoto station. Very nice place with peaceful vibe, fully-equipped facilities and friendly staff. Charged additionally 800¥ for accommodation tax, but it's okay because it was mentioned in Booking. They also have coin laundry room with detergents (so nice). What we love the most? the air circulation system/drying system in the bathroom which it said that you can use for drying clothes. Fantastic! We tried and indeed, they worked very well! Though they have clothes dryer in coin laundry, but just in case you have too much clothes, or simply do not want to mix your clothes with others, best choice for you. Been in Japan for 3 times, but this is the first time I stayed in a hotel equipped with the modern drying system like that, lol. They also have separated toilet and bathroom, hanging space etc.

This is a very new service apartment style stay. I got a studio unit for a very competitive price of an average hotel room. Since I do not fancy traditional interaction services and gimmicks that traditional hotels provided, this stays suits me perfectly. The studio unit comes with a very good size living space. There a induction stove, a pot and frying pan, spatula, porcelain plates, fork & spoon, chopstick, that I did light cooking like Miso soup, butter cooked steaks, and even made toasts. There's a good air ventilator above the stove at the ceiling to clear the smell and (little) smoke from my cooking. The shower room is great size, a modern air ventilating system with heating and drying is built in! There's also a good grade stainless steel laundry rack to hang my laundry. The toilet is comes with warm seat and bidet system. A small walk-in closet to store my luggage, a fold-up Brompton bicycle and hang up my clothes. Full size glass sliding window accessing to the unit's private balcony should you decide to dry your laundry naturally, like me. The property design is very modern Japanese zen decor. Everything is simple and very pleasant. I would love to stay here again in my next visit to Kyoto!

Though distance is not a problem for me at all since I cycle to the property, it is a little further from the Kyoto train station. For normal travelers you might want to plan your own local transport arrangement.

Second time we stayed at Stay SAKURA, came again, because we already liked it the last time. Clean, very big room, close to the station. travelled together as a couple and still appreciated the separate mattresses and covers. Separate toilet and shower within the room. Cooking plate, microwave, kettle, basic dishes. Best Hotel of our trip.

The hotel was very modern and the rooms had a kitchenette…however there was no table or chairs so you had to eat in bed or on the floor. The guest centre near Kyoto station was very convenient to drop off bags. The fact that the bathroom turned into a drying room was great. Travelling with kids we generate a lot of washing. The laundry cost 300 yen but the drying was free because of the bathroom dryer

The location was halfway between downtown/Gion and the station - in hindsight it would’ve been better to choose one or the other. The staff at the hotel reception were unable to help me book a taxi and couldn’t even give me the number of a taxi company to book one myself
