The ryokan is a gem itself. A japanese house built in 1912 in good condition, making it a perfect place to experience true Japanese architecture / home / life. We can tell the owner/staff take great care of this majestic house. We really like the bathtub and enjoy bathing in the water of great quality - make sure you try it! The breakfast is exceptional, comes with a lot of small dishes in beautifully crafted utensils and cutlery. Also the ryokan is very close to Gojo subway station and bus stops.

The house is not really sound-proof so we could hear people upstairs (that's why there's no TV). Please be considerate when staying in the ryokan (earplugs are provided for light-sleepers). Also to note: The room could really only fit max number of people it states. Three of us stayed in Gengetsu Room, and with the futons all laid out it became a bit crowded. The room would become too crowded if it houses max. people with multiple large luggages. Recommend to people who travel light (with one luggage pp), or try not to maximise it.

Beautiful traditional house in a quiet location not too far from Kyoto station. Everything was so clean and the breakfast was delicious! A wonderful experience - thank you.

Some of the other guests were quite noisy coming in late at night so bring earplugs as the walls are quite thin (although the accommodation also provide ear plugs which is helpful). Also, the property has a shared bathroom / toilet so sometimes there was a bit of a wait to access.

It is a traditionell Kyoto townhouse, everything is original and in very good condition. One has to Share the bathroom with others, but only Four rooms, so Not many people. It was Not Noise, I felt really comfortable and slept well. Breakfast was always a surprise and I enjoyed it every Morning. I stayed for Seven Nights and felt being at Home. Exzellent for those who want to enjoy Japanese Style.

Everything! The breakfast was delicious and abundant and the facilities were very clean. The house was old and beautiful, very classic Japanese. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Our room was cozy and comfortable. I would stay there again!

Our room had a sloping roof and we had to watch our heads. The bathroom was downstairs, which we were fully aware of beforehand, but the stairs were steep and a bit tricky to negotiate quietly in the middle of the night.

I LOVE the style it’s been kept in and how nice the staff was during my stay. The Japanese breakfast was delicious and they always ask if there’s something you can’t beforehand. It was such a relaxing place to stay after a day’s worth of traveling. Thank you so much!

Never getting to use the bathroom but that was my fault since I always come back so late. Luckily there’s a bathhouse a 1 minute away from the Ryokan!

The original architecture, the atmosphere and the lovely staff are all amazing. Be sure to take the home made breakfast when you stay.

The originality did come at the slight cost of some comfort. In the smallest room it was a hard to move around or stand up and I added some layers of blankets underneath the futon. That said, everything else 100% made up for it and I’d stay here again, maybe in one of the bigger rooms! Worth it.

A real transitional ryokan, with friendly staff and clean environment. Had a tranditional japanese breakfast by local lady.

It may have some noise when people walking around in the house, but this should be expected. Throughout the stay, I personally didn't feel the noise annoy that much

I LOVED it! The staff were exceptional, the facilities was traditional, and I felt so welcomed!!

No complaints :) Only since it is a traditional home the walls are very thin so keep that in mind when you are staying.

The location is close to the transportation (Bus&Train). The room was very clean. I stayed in both the Japanese room & Western room. Staying there made me feel like visiting family. The bed was comfy. The bathroom & toilet is clean. The breakfast was simple and nice. Even though the house is old but I didn't have any issues with the noise.

Very traditional and cozy place that gives you a Japanese feeling and vibe.

The place might be ideal for a day or two stay as it doesn’t have a modern bathroom and might not be convenient for all to take a shower- however it does have an old and clean bathroom
