The hostel is located on a small cozy street in a wooden building. It looks very authentic. On the ground floor is a common room with small kitchen. The space is very comfortable for work. Upstairs are the rooms with slided doors. Every pod is very big with spacious bed, long table/shelf, two sockets, light and side space for personal items. The shower has shampoo, conditioner and body shower. The basins are located in the corridor. The location is very close to Kyomizu Temple and historic streets, also close to Gion. For those who are interested, there are also public bath just 5 minutes away from hostel. The towels are for a fee but the umbrellas are free to rent. You can also buy other amenities at the desk.

It wasn’t very clean. The staff is cleaning constantly, the problem lies mostly on hostel guests, unfortunately not everyone is trying to keep it clean. And another discomfort was a huge column in front of the bed and because the space between beds are narrow, it was quite tricky to climb out of pod and around the column.

The sleeping area is spacious and the bed is comfortable! The bathroom and showers were always clean. The hostel is also nearby downtown and the river and I loved walking along the river when I go around the area. The staff were also kind enough to help me out when I asked for help wearing yukata.

I went during summer and airconditioning in the room was not the best, but also not that bad that you’ll lose sleep at night.

I loved staying here. Building has a lot of character but is clean and well-maintained. "Capsules" are huge compared to other places; if you are worried about staying in a capsule hotel because you are physically large, this is the place to try. I could physically stand up in mine, though I had an upper capsule and my head poked out of the ceiling. Co-working lounge is cool, plenty of space, and the kitchen is clean and well organized, stocked with whatever dishes you could need. I would consider living here if I could 😅

There is very little space to open your luggage. The only space is right in the entrance to the room, meaning you're in the way of anyone going in or out. I ended up taking everything I might need out of my luggage when I checked in and the room was empty, then didn't touch my luggage until I had to check out. There were also no lockers for storing valuables. This is a nitpick but there was a small gap between the bottom of my capsule and the wall. I was worried about accidentally dropping things down into the capsule below. Please seal that up!

Really chilled vibe, loved the modern spaces and use of facilities. Very clean. Washing machines by each room, bed was comfy too, pod was larger than most I’ve stayed in Japan. Really close to Kyoto station and few min walk to a bus stop.

Amenities for washing machine weren’t great, the powder provided didn’t properly clean my clothes and I had to put in money twice into the dryer which didn’t actually fully dry my clothes.

Close to kawaramachi which is the main hub of the city. Amenities such as convenience store and a supermarket close by. Very dark at night which made sleeping easy.

Bit tight for space within the bunk bed area - there wasn’t a lot of space/place for luggage storage. Might be hard for those carrying a big luggage.

Came here for the second time. Funny but I got the same room and even bed as the last time))) This time I actually liked this hostel even more. Was comfortable, pretty clean (you can’t do anything with dust from bed sheets anyway), warm shower, spacious coworking area.

Rich in history, good location, about a 15 min walk away from Kyoto Station

Thin walls that can’t be helped due to nature of building, some soundproofing or acoustic treatment can be done through a renovation. Property could provide bedroom slippers as the floors are carpeted and we are not allowed to walk with our shoes.

Staff was very polite, warm and welcoming. Very prompt at replying messages. Very helpful to show me the facilities when arriving. The place was clean and comfortable to stay. Showers and toilets were very good. Love the traditional Japanese feel of the place!

- A bit cramped in the dormitory room. - Would be nicer to have a secure room to keep suitcase after check-out.

Hostel is beautiful, has a big coworking space and kitchen. Capsules also really nice with shelves to put some personal stuff.

Not a lot of space to store or open your luggage in the room with the bunk beds. But maybe it would not have been an issue, if not everyone brought two suitcases…😅

I loved the traditional architecture of the property, it felt very serene, simple and clean. I loved the showers and the gorgeous organic shower products. The bed was comfy. I had read in the reviews some issues with the walls being thin and noise but because I had come from the hustle and bustle of London and Tokyo, I slept like a baby in peaceful UnknownKyoto!
