Location is excellent, close to the bus stop and a konbini, a walkable distance to the city centre. Beautiful surrounding area filled with rivers, and local shrines. Room is very clean! The onsen is clean and very pleasant during cold months (very hot though!!!). Breakfast was good! Lots of variety and good options to make for a nutritionally complete meal. Do not drink the instant coffee it's really bad!!!
The room is lacking a lot of floor space! If you're travelling with another person, you can't both have your luggage out at once. The cords in the room don't work! And the smoking room in the lobby definitely leaks smoke which travels into the elevator and lobby, definitely offputting.

Well what can you say about hotel that supplies free drinks from 5pm to 8pm . It was a bonus. Four different beers, wine, Whisky and Sake. The hotel was reasonably close to a lot of touristy stuff and close to public transport . Kyoto is a very large city so its hard to get the perfect location for a hotel. But if you have legs then its pretty easy to get around. Rooms were average Japanese size and they had a public bath. Overall a great stay, friendly staff and great restaurant's near by. A bit of a walk from the station but my wife and I are in our 60s and we managed the 1.8km walk carrying our back packs , there are buses as well that stop near the hotel.
The hotel was great but the number tourists in Kyoto was crazy (and I'm including myself as one of those tourists)

This is a nice modern hotel with friendly staff… a short 1000 yen taxi ride away from Kyoto Station which was very handy when travelling with luggage or needing to get two and from the station quickly. Also walkable to Gion and Pontocho areas. Our room was small but comfortable. They provided us with lovely yukatas to wear which you could choose in the lobby. Breakfast was served until 9:30… the friendly staff made us ham and cheese toasties with an egg every morning.
Could have done with a couple more hooks in the room to hang coats and yukatas on. Additional hooks could have been fitted on the bathroom door or small passage by the room entry door.

Location was great, close to underground and many tourists hotspots Onsen was great after a day touring around Kyoto All staff friendly Room were clean and modern Happy hour great idea,to chill out Breakfast good
The room for smokers ( hotel in non smoking but allocate an area for smokers) this was very close to the two elevators at reception and the smell of smoke when waiting for an elevator was horrible as a non smoker and at times the elevators smelt of smoke !! Not nice Happy hour advertised on booking.com but do not inform you that it's not available weekends and on japenese holidays ,not a deal breaker but really nice idea to sit and have a beer after a days walking around Kyoto ,we only got two out of five days .

The hotel was clean and comfortable. The room felt a bit small and cramped, but I believe this is pretty standard for Japan. We chose room with view and it was worth it - we could see Kiyomizu-dera shrine (lights up pink at night) even though it was a far away. The location was great - some of our destinations were walkable distances from hotel, other needed one or two metro stops, which was very convenient. Hotel provides all necessities and offers kimonos which was great! Breakfast was delicious, but variety of food is small. The stuff was helpful and nice. Happy hours were a very nice and pleasant service!
The room windows don't open, so the only way to get fresh air is through ventilation, which was directly over our heads in bed, so at night, the breeze would be felt. The breakfast variety is small.

Location and staff attitude. Friendly and always willing to help. They also have staff that speaks english well and who are willing to use it . Special credit to Mr Hayata Aoki who helped me arrange my luggage delivery. He explained it all in english clearly! While i know some Japanese, his willingness to do it in English shows how he is being client centric!
The setup of the room was difficult to open the luggage. The cleaning regime was also quite confusing especially with the door sign. Would suggest to give towels to all rooms where no cleaning is done. the sign saying no cleaning required but is meant to show to ask for towels got me quite confused.

Everything was very clean. The beds were comfortable and long enough for my 6’ 1” husband. The shower was very nice and was easy to use. The staff were very nice and held our luggage in the lobby when we arrived before check-in time. The location is pretty convenient for seeing Gion if you don’t mind walking a little bit. It was also pretty simple to get to Fushimi Inari from the hotel. Many of the sites are spread out in Kyoto so it’s hard to find a place that’s truly in the middle of everything.
There is space under the bed to store your bags which worked for us though both our bags were carry-on size. However there wasn’t much room once you slid them out from under the bed to open them. We could do it but it was pretty cramped and definitely wouldn’t work with larger luggage. There was some confusion with checkout as we thought we had been given a 1 hour late check-out time when we arrived (11:00 am) but the front desk called a little after 10:00am saying we were late. In the end we weren’t penalized for this which I really appreciate. I’m sure it was some misunderstanding on our part.

There were two main reasons for staying at this hotel during our trip. First, its proximity to Kiyomizu Dera on foot, and second, the sento. Both aspects were quite good, and enjoying a hot bath at night after a long day of walking around Kyoto was more than needed. It was a pleasant surprise to have a bus stop right in front of the hotel and a subway station just across the bridge. The views from the river at night were also very pretty. Furthermore, you can sit and relax while enjoying a few beverages in the afternoon for a couple of hours at no extra cost.
The room was smaller than I thought, but it wasn't just the size; it was the layout itself that made it a bit complicated to store our things. The fact that there were only two washing machines available for all the guests was a bit surprising, especially when one day they were all broken. We ended up walking to a nearby coin laundry place, so that was a bit of a letdown

The public bath is nice. After tiring walking and sightseeing whole day, a hot bath is nice. The shampoo, conditioner and body shampoo provided are good in quality. Amenities on toiletry are seperb. Book two rooms and were given two rooms next to each other as requested. ( although no promises are given in the first place) Hotel staff help arrange taxi for us which is very nice. Even has the taxi app, not sure know how to book...
Emmm... If really wan to say... Room is small and difficult to open luggages...

We already visited Amanek in Tokyo Asakusa before so we were how tiny the rooms are and we are totally fine with that. Everything was clean and tidy. Staff was amazing and very hospitable! Gojō subway station is relatively close (500m) and the hotel isn’t far from shrines (which are on the other side of the river). And other places worth visiting.
The only downside I can think of (and that’s why it’s 9/10 points) is the breakfast - if only it was a little more diverse, we stayed for 5 nights and the breakfast was identical every time.
