Nice kitchen area. Bunk bed space was nice with small canibet, lights, outlet, and privacy curtain.
They provide you with 1 initial towel and from then on, if you want to change your towel it'll cost you ¥100 each time. To me this penalizes traveller's staying for more than 1 night... I stayed 3 nights and the staff would not change my towel for free. Lesson learned! I'll stay elsewhere next time I have a 3+ night stay. If it's for 1 or maybe 2 nights this place is fine. Also, all showers are in the basement, they do provide male and female toilets on the actual floor your sleeping and the dormitory rooms also have 2 small sinks with small mirrors.... But if you want to take a shower you have to get your towel, change of close, toiletries, etc ready and head down to the basement. They do provide body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and hair dryers in the basement bathroom.

The location couldn't be any better for that price. 5 min to Kyoto station is a dream! The beds are really comfortable. The ports for USB worked really well! And it had a little wooden box one could close. The laundry machine works great, so does the dryer! The personnel are really nice and speak English really well.
The shower is in the basement. So you have to use a lift, that passes the lobby hall to go take a shower. Personally it's not ideal. If you sleep next to the door, it tends to be noisy as people pack their stuff there. You have to undo your bed at check out. If you don't have a lot of time it's also not ideal and in the early morning you wake up other guests by doing so.

pros: - i highly suggest staying in private individual room if you have the budget. it’s more comfortable! - great and helpful staff - the mattress was really comfortable and after staying at previous hostels in osaka, i finally had some good night sleep - i was sleeping in front of the bathrooms, and i liked how the doors have anti slam installed because some tenants have little to non social awareness and care for others from my experience staying at hostels - great location, 7 min walk from the kyoto station and a mall + food court across the street - wi-fi on each individual floor - separate bathrooms for male and female. love that as a solo female traveler
cons: - the ventilation in the room is bad and i felt stuffy unless i open the privacy blinds - tenants can open windows in their rooms which is good and bad. there was a tenant opened their window during one of the most humid days while i was staying and didn’t shut it. it was incredible hot on that side of the floor despite there was air conditioning. (not the hostel’s fault but i wish tenants can’t just open windows at their convince whenever they want) - the female bathroom was dirty. when i moved in, there were hand prints on the door, marks on the toilet roll and when i left the prints were still there.

At first reasonable price. But the quality of my stay was still tremendous. All areas were pretty clean and well organised. I stayed in a 20 pax’s dorm but as it is more like a capsule type hostel, it didn’t bother me at all. All facilities are new and bed was pretty comfy. Each bed has its own outlets, lights so as locker. Location was also great. Only a few minutes walk from Kyoto station. Its kitchen has basic utensils so as free tea. Staff are all solid. Would highly recommend if you have several days in Kyoto.
Everything was great but only one downside is having its shower facilities on another floor so had to go up and down whenever I used it.

I recently stayed at Wise Owl Hostel, and I couldn’t be more impressed with my experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure my stay was enjoyable. The check-in process was smooth and welcoming, thanks to the attentive front desk team. They were incredibly helpful, offering great recommendations for local dining and attractions. Whenever I needed assistance or had questions, their friendly and knowledgeable staff were always ready to help with a smile. The hotel itself was comfortable and well-maintained, with clean rooms and thoughtful amenities. The attention to detail in both the room and common areas really enhanced my stay. What stood out the most was the genuine care and professionalism of the staff. It’s rare to find a team so dedicated to providing excellent service, and their efforts truly made my visit memorable. I highly recommend this hostel for anyone looking for a comfortable stay with exceptional service. I look forward to returning on my next trip!
Nothing I dislike.

Would like to take write a review to praise the staffs working at this hostel. Besides very good location near Kyoto station, clean, quiet, convenient and comfortable for the good price, the staffs are very nice and supportive of any questions or requests. There is also a common area and kitchen where you can cook and meet up with people, so it’s great to stay long term. I need a quiet space for an interview and asked for their help, and they helped me out. Im very grateful for it. Also, they provide plenty information on what to do where to go and events in the city, so you can plan your travel as well.

Enjoyed this hostel! Close location to the train station, close to a family mart and 7/11, also some very great restaurants close by, and a bike hire location just up the road 🩷 Beds were comfy, and super clean, showers were great and offered all you need, also had a laundry for 300 yen, can purchase detergent from reception for 100 yen, and dryer for 100 yen per half an hour, and free rental umbrellas for the rainy days 🩵 Very convenient, clean and well put together hostel, staff were super friendly and welcome, always taking the time to say hello, goodbye and help you with any needs! 💜

The beds are extremely comfy, the showers and bathrooms are very clean and the location is great as it’s right by Kyoto station so very easy access to everything via bus, subway or train. Would definitely stay here again!
Not necessarily the property’s fault but there was a school group staying there that took up the entire kitchen and common space from 4pm - 9pm. So it was hard to use the kitchen and there was no where in the common area to sit or eat your food. I would recommend they maybe give the school a two hour window in the common space so other people can enjoy it as well.

The best hostel I’ve stayed at in Japan. Everything worked properly, it was clean, the staff were great, and the kitchen/lounge area was nice too. The showers were good. Air con in the rooms was nice too! Location is good for the main station. Beds were pretty good and there was a nice reading nook with a lamp and usb/mains charging ports! The room had a sink too.
Two things the hostel could improve on are 1. The walls were a bit thin, I could hear someone sleeping on the other side very clearly—it was ok with earplugs though! 2. The decor of our room was very bland, and I didn’t like the color of the exposed grey brick—I think a warm-light floor lamp and a houseplant would elevate it massively!

Clean, good facilities, and comfortable bed. The location was ok, walking distance from Kyoto station. Restaurants and a convenience store nearby.
While I thought the people there would be more friendly, I made friends anywhere in Kyoto besides the hostel. Each kept to themselves, but maybe it was the time. The dryer didn't dry too well, even after 2 uses. Summed up for a total of 700 yen to do laundry.
