The room had a balcony, which was super nice! View of the nightly fireworks, the volcano and lake! 🥰 We also enjoyed the excellent and varried breakfast. The onsen was also nice, not the sulfur type, but clean and acceptable. 100% good Bus also stops about 50-meters away. Summer pro tip: Walk to the Westend of the lake, through the park. There you can go swimming in the crystal clear lake! Water shoes or sandals are helpful as the low wall can be a little jagged. Note to self: Bring snorkel and mask and fishing pole next time! The fish I saw, wow wow wee wow!!

Location was right on the lake near the main town area of Toyako Onsen. The lake cruise and bus terminal are within a 10 minute walk. The room was Japanese style with tatami mats and was very comfortable. I got a room facing the lake, so the view was great. It was very easy to enjoy the evening fireworks show from the comfort of your room, but know that the show starts a little bit out of view and gradually moves across the lake. The first floor has an outdoor balcony where you can sit if you like. The breakfast and dinner buffets were very good with a wide selection of offerings. The onsen bath was standard with the same water type and temperature in different formats (indoor, indoor with window view, and outdoor). The overall experience was very enjoyable.

No major complaints

Great view from our room, right over the lake from where we were able to watch the firework display in the evening. Room was clean and comfortable - no issues at all. Hotel is centrally located, within walking distance from the bus station and tourist information centre. You would need a car, bus or taxi to get out to the cable car to Mt Uzu though.

Food at the buffet was of average quality, we had enjoyed much better in other Hokkaido hotels - sorry.

The view. You cannot beat the view of the lake. Before booking I compared the window views of the other hotels, and decided to go with hanabi because of the large windows and the ability to go out on the small balcony. Other hotels probably had better looking rooms but the view is what we went here for.

You can see the summer fireworks from the room, but I wish the staff could have told us that the boat that sets off the fireworks moves across the lake front to give a good view from each of the hotels along the lake. The fireworks went off in front of the hotels to the left where we couldn't see, so we panicked and ended up going out to the lakefront boardwalk only to find out that the boat was gradually moving towards us.

Room is comfortable for the 4 of us and offer a great view of Lake Toya at your balcony. Reasonably priced. After reading the reviews, I feel that the breakfast and dinner buffet are better than expected. They might had change the menu but we enjoyed our meals there. We managed to catch the fireworks right at our balcony too

This is a good hotel in a great location and with all rooms having amazing views on the lake. As other reviews say, some furniture could do with a bit up updating, but we are splitting hair: everything is clean, functional, well kept and it's all reflected in the price which is low compared to other hotels. So, really, nothing to worry here. Onsen: nice both indoor/outdoor. Breakfast: VERY different and VERY interesting: it's pure Japanese, so don't book it if you want croissants. You need to book the day before because it's cooked on the day, and it needs time to prep. It also takes some time to go through all dishes. That's why they don't want you to start too late.

It can be cold in the room and the heater may not be strong enough. We've been in May, cold (~8-10C during the day), but sunny throughout, so it was ok. It may get cold during the winter. Duvet is too short, but not a big deal to be honest. It happens often in some countries. We had a third one in the room which we used to cover our feet. Or ask reception for another one.

The room was dated but comfortable. There is a nice balcony facing Lake Toya and it was nice to be able to sit next to the lake and have a leisure sip of tea. The breakfast is decent with good variety of food. The onsen was larger than I thought - has indoor and outdoor pool. Also have different temperatures.

It is quite far away from the restaurants from the main street. The firework was cancelled due to weather (but the weather was not that bad just light drizzle of rain). Very disappointing.

hotel is clean and the lake view rooms come with a small balcony. bed is comfortable.

most hotel staff do not speak English and it’s very hard for communication. we were lucky to have bump into a mandarin speaking staff and we got most of the information we needed. it is very very hard to communicate with the other staff. they would just say sorry no speak English and went silent. there are some restaurants about 10-15mins walk away during winter. better bring anti slip for your shoes or you might slip and fall as there are many slope around the hotel.

We love, love, loved the room. The tatami flooring was fabulous and the view was amazing. The hotel is older but it has an air of charm and old world ambiance.

We didn’t enjoy the greedy people at the dinner buffet but that wasn’t the hotel’s problem. The breakfast was better with an amazing view of the volcano and the lake. The bed was very hard by westerners standards which made for an uncomfortable night.

The room we had (twin with lake view) was clean and big, though a bit dated. Both the bed and the futon were comfortable. The view to the lake and fireworks from inside the room was amazing.

Though the room was clean, the balcony had some huge spiderweb, so we were a bit afraid of spending too much time there. The front office staff could be more customer oriented.
