You can take about 5-10 steps out of the Inn and meet bowing deer. The deer up the mountain are more fun to interact with than the ones closer to the park entrance, purely due to the amount of rice crackers being shoved in their faces being much lower each day. The ones that chill out around the Deer Park Inn are happy to have a little nibble and pose for all your photo and video needs, whereas the ones lower down the mountain are fed rice crackers all day everyday, leaving them unlikely to want to interact with humans past 9am or so. The Inn itself is a modest hostel style guesthouse, suitable for families or friends travelling together - with rooms of bunk beds accommodating up to 6 people, shared shower and bathroom facilities, a shared common area / kitchen. Right outside the door are some lovely little stores and a nice park area full of grazing and lazing deer. Nara Deer Park is a beautiful place, and the Deer Park Inn is highly recommended for anyone wishing to immerse themselves in the park and it's surrounds. While staying there we were treated to an amazing fireworks show as part of the festivities, and they were being launched about 100m from the small park next to the Inn. Honestly a great experience.
Not much could have been improved in my view, another guest I spoke to wasn't a huge fan of waiting to use the showers if someone else beats you to it, but getting up either slightly earlier or a bit later than the majority would alleviate this issue completely. While you walk amongst the deer, or look out at the sunset from the large balcony of an ancient temple, it is pretty hard to be concerned with having to wait 5 minutes to have a shower to be honest.

The place was seriously beautiful. The rooms were clean and big. The common area was great. Since shops close early, it's nice to have instant ramen just in case you need it. The showers were spacious and had everything you needed. Early morning and relaxing environment for sure! And then the people working there... they were all the nicest!!!!!! They helped me figure out nice spots to watch the sunset and the best spots to take the best photos, they helped me call a taxi and helped me with my luggage, etc. I could go on and on about how nice it was to be around them. To sum up, if you're not booking this place, what are you doing!

There were deer right outside the inn! It's located in the heart of the Deer Park so on our way to and from the inn we loved seeing all the deer. The room was quite spacious, and the staff were friendly and helpful! The other travellers at the inn at the time we were there also really respectful to the inn's rules, and I was impressed by how all the showers and toilets are kept clean even though it is a shared space!
Not the inn's fault, but walking from Kintetsu-Nara Station with heavy luggage was a BIG mistake on our part. Advice for other travellers, take a taxi or bus to save yourself the struggle!!

The place is in the middle of the park, had to walk on steep street and lots of stairs, is not a regular hotel, is a hostel with super caring people and you can love and enjoy being so close to the deers all the time. We were so tired that we paid massages for all 4 of us and we had a great time, really respectful and well done. They do offer you the use of their kitchen and you can storage things on the fridge, also they have some soups for sale in case you are hungry and forgot to bring your food. There is a beautiful park just one minute up where you can seat and feed the deers and enjoy sunrise or sunset. We really loved the place and bypassed the not so good things, just because I'm sensitive.
I didn't like the beds at all. Very uncomfortable and the smell of old wet concrete got on my clothes. Also they have several showers but only 2 toilets that where always in need of clean because males don't cooperate aiming. But as I said the place itself was worth it.

Very friendly staff, extremely clean, great lounge and kitchen, beds are FANTASTIC, amazing view from the rooms.
Know ahead of time its basically at the top of a mountain. I walked all the way up there with all my luggage and was EXHAUSTED by the time I got there. FYI: maybe take a taxi.

It was amazing here. Our twin bed room was spacious and the hearing (a/c) worked perfectly well to keep us warm. The shared amenities were super clean. The showers were superb! Amazing water pressure, gets really hot if you want it to. The living room/kitchen was convenient and also fun to use. The atmosphere here was just amazing. So relaxed. So nice. We want to go back again!! If you're planning on visiting Nara park, do yourself a favour and book a room here. It's magical.

It is an interesting inn inside of the Nara Park and within close walking distance to all the main tourist attractions in Nara. It was very clean and you get your own room but also have the chance to meet other travellers in the comfortable common room. They have complimentary coffee and tea and also cup noodles for purchase. There are also 3 toilets and 3 showers and not enough people for them to ever be full.
The toilet weren't heated (while most were elsewhere in Japan). While the location is convenient for tourist attractions, it's not exactly convenient in terms of getting to/from the inn. There are no restaurants nearby that are open after 5PM and the closets convience store is a 25 minute walk. You either have to get an early dinner or buy something earlier in the day for later.

The location was very convenient if you want to visit temples, watch deer, and stay at the world heritage area of Nara. The best part was the friendly staff. They recommended walking tour sites and the best features of the area and tell you the time it takes to reach each location and how to travel. They even explained about the restaurant schedules and helped with sending my suitcases. The staff also spoke English and Spanish.
The place is a little old and sharing a bathroom area may be uncomfortable for some people. But the rooms are very clean and comfortable, this was a minor detail.

I liked it had a kitchen with cup noodles available, books, and bath items and towels. They set the bed up in front of the window so you get a good view of the deer. The staff are very nice and gave great advice about where to go around the park and where the nearest place to get food was.
The location is great if you spend most of your time around the park and temples but if you go into town it's about a 20-25min walk. The nearest place to get food would take about that long so it's best to bring some food back for the night and next morning. Your room will be warm but the common areas are not. You can turn on the heat in the kitchen/living room but the bathroom area is cold. This is normal in Japan though.

The staff were so friendly, helpful and lovely. The place was really homely and had a great vibe, not to mention the location is perfect!! You're situated right within the deer park with a shop across from you where you can buy lovely souvenirs and deer crackers. The room was so comfortable, AC and amenities and really nice cosy rooms. You also have a communal lounge area, really clean and great shower facilities and communal fridge/kettle/cups etc...
