1. The room was very spacious for three people. 2. The view from our room was gorgeous and you can watch the sunrise if you wake up early enough. 3. The breakfast provided was fabulous. It was a traditional Japanese style one and the food provided was different day by day. Hence, you should not feel bored with the food! 4. There are two public onsen baths in the hotel, and one is indoor and the other one is outdoor. The opening hours for both onsen baths are quite long so you shouldn't need to worry about if you have to rush back to the hotel after a full day visit around the city.

1. The hotel is a bit far away from Beppu train station. You have to walk around 12-15 minutes if you carry your luggage / suitacase to reach the hotel. 2. As the hotel is located near the seaside, there were quite a lot of mosquitoes in our room. Fortunately enough, the mosquitoes seemed not to bite people.

We booked rooms with half-board which included the traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner. The tatami rooms were very spacious with a sea view (at the waterfront). The food was plenty and tasty. As we booked for 2 nights with half-board, they made sure to offer different menues over the 2 days (9-course dinner). There were an indoor and roof-top/outdoor common onsen-baths with sufficient space for relaxing. The hotel personnel was very friendly.

The hotel interior and amenities are somehow outdated, although clean. This is a general trend among onsen-hotels in Japan as many onsen resorts are fighting for survival (no longer in trend among the younger Japanese generation). Beppu use to be a prime onsen town, but looks somewhat deserted nowadays with closed hotels, restaurants and bars.

the staff are al very friendly and considerate. we checked in late the first night so would have missed our dinner. but they let us know they'd wait for us which was comforting. the onsen on the rooftop was lovely with great seaview. Our room with the sea view was beautiful.

iI prefer to have the yukatas kept in our room and towels in onsen so we didn't have to bring along from our room. but then perhaps the arrangements are due to environmental considerations. they just vary from different hotels, i suppose.

The staff were lovely - polite, friendly and helpful. The room was basic but spotless - the whole hotel was clean, and smelt nice too. There are a few fantastic restaurants / izakayas in the same area, and it's a 10-min walk to the station. It was also excellent value and I'm glad I stayed here overall.

It's a problem with a Japanese-style room (not this hotel), but as there's no 'bedside', there's no bedside lamp. If you like to read for a bit before going to sleep, getting out of bed to switch off the light is a pain. The rooftop onsen is nice, but there are only four shower areas - you can end up waiting around naked in the cold for someone to finish. (You could just do the traditional quick rinse with onsen water, but I prefer not).

The view from the room and all the meals we had were wonderful. The facility is a bit old but kept clean. The room was spacious and we would have liked it more if the futon mats were thicker. Roten-buro was nice.

The toilet in the room was too small. The bathtub didn't not seem to have been used so long that it started to smell badly in the room. It would be helpful to flush water once in a while to prevent it.

This is a great location by the sea. We had a corner room, so we had a great view from two sides and managed to check in as the sun was setting. The room had its own bathroom, but of course, we used the onsen. Breakfast was amazing, a full traditional Japanese breakfast.

We couldn't book the room with dinner but we thought we could just go into the restaurant to eat. However, when we asked at reception, they were fully booked. However, they did recommend a good tempura restaurant only a few minutes walk away.

This was probably the best place we stayed in Japan. We booked the room with the private onsen that looked out onto the ocean, it was absolutely stunning. The traditional breakfast was so beatiful, very different to our usual breakfast but nonetheless delicious, you have to try it at least once and i'm glad we did. The staff were very helpful with looking after our bags before we checked in. We smashed all the Jigoku (hells) in the afternoon and had a blast. Our only regret is not staying in beppu longer.

Love this hotel even though it was a little far from the metro station. The selling point is that it provides tranquility and really lovely outdoor onsen (you’d have to get used to the tradition of not wearing clothes during the public soak of course). Breakfast was great too!

The facilities (such as the bathtub and the room) can be a little old. So if you’re not shy to soak in public area, I’d advise travellers to use the public bathhouse in the ryokan instead.

I booked the sea view room with an ensuite hot spring bath and it was so nice! The view was spectacular. The onsen was very hot. The room is very spacious and the futon beds were so comfortable. I also went to see the two onsens, the indoor and outdoor, and both were very nice! I booked the one in the room because I have a few tattoos and I wasn't sure if I could use the onsens, but I asked at the front desk and they were ok with my tattoos (for reference they are mostly cute animals). The onsens were quite busy while I was here but it is the beginning of Sakura season so I think a lot of people are traveling at the moment. There was still more than enough room in the onsens, the indoor one is a good size. The staff here were all very pleasant and helpful, check in was very smooth. The location is a bit of a walk from the station but there are bus stops nearby. It is very nice walking along the beach beside the ryokan. There are quite a few restaurants around too if you don't book the dinner, though I would recommend it if you like seafood! I had the dinner and breakfast as well and they were both wonderful. The dinner had a great variation of food and even though I am not normally a huge fan of seafood, everything they served tasted very fresh and delicious. The presentation on everything was also very well done.

There is only one elevator so you might have to wait a while for the elevator.

The hotel is located next to Beppu Sea, so giving very nice ocean view. All members of staff are very helpful and so kind, making you feel very comfortable and well-treated. Dinner (half-board) was exceptionally excellent, giving us different course meals every day while we were staying for 3 nights. This hotel is absolutely highly valued hotel every I experienced.

This hotel fed me too much with so excellent and delicious meal every morning and night for breakfast and dinner, respectively. Rooftop onsen is a bit small, so crowded every time.
