This hotel is aged but function well. It's the only hotel to stay in Murodo if you want to stay overnight for the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. The hotel will organise activities for hotel guest like star glazing, walking trail, it's in Japanese language. Hotel guests get exclusive walk to the snow wall in the late afternoon after it is closed to public. As it is the only hotel, the price we paid included dinner and breakfast, both which is beyond satisfactory. Some of the front office staff can speak English, so it really depends on whether they are on duty when you need them.

Onsen not very big

It was a good decision to break our Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route and stay on Mt Tateyama for a night to enjoy the beautiful surroundings at Murodo. We stayed at Tateyama Hotel as it is the only Hotel at the Murodo Station. The Reception Team was friendly and efficient especially Suzuki-san who was very helpful and patient with our other needs and requirements. Our room was big and spacious as it has 3 beds with a good view of the mountain range below. The dinner and breakfast that came with the room rates were excellent and good respectively. We had a good and enjoyable stay at Tateyama Hotel. Excellent Hotel & staffs👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 One more point : email inquiries to the hotel were promptly answered

Convenient location. We are happy to stay for a night here during the trip to Alpen route. We had a walk at Murodo. After the dinner, we attended a slide presentation about the culture and history of the area. Then went out to the roof for star gazing. We planned to send some postcards from the Murodo station. However,we found that the post office was closed at 14:00. We seeked help from the front desk. Luckily, they have kept some stamps for selling to the guests. We may also take the complementary postcards in the room.

Highest hotel in Japan, third highest in the world (as claimed by the hotel). Fantastic view, great dinner and comfortable rooms. Hotel also organise snow wall walk, sunrise tour and star gazing for guests. Also free use of snow boots and poles. Rooms have WC/toilets but no shower facilities. But there is a nice public bath / onsen at the hotel.

Rather troublesome to get to. We came by the Nagano side and had 4 transfers.

The service was awesome! They took great pains to accommodate our group's advance complicated meal requests for the Kaiseki dinner and each and everyone of us enjoyed our dinner through and through. Thank you! We also enjoyed the private snow wall session!

A bit dated but renovated to provide the basic modern necessities such as USB charging points.

The staff is nice. Celebrated by husband's birthday and the hotel could arrange for a cake at a fee. On the day of checkout, the hotel gave a little gift - a photo taken by the staff when cake was presented. The dinner and breakfast were of quality.

The hotel is dated but since this is the only hotel at Murodo, there is no other choice.

All staffs were very friendly. We had special meal requests that made a menu especially for us without any extra charge. Food were exceptional! The hotel can operate a half of the year as it is located in high altitude. So I thought the price is quite reasonable. The hotel offered lots of activities for guests for free. We enjoyed every minutes of it!

I thought the bathroom is bit out of dated. But totally understandable how hard to maintain it for the location.

Great place for an overnight stay on Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. The hotel was clean & comfortable but the mattress was hard. Our request for vegetarian meals was met & the food was very good. Nice buffet breakfast. Special mention to Kono in the restaurant who was very kind and helpful.

Mattresses were uncomfortable.

convenient place to stay when competing the Alpine route. stay spoke some English to help foreigners settle in and everything was nice and clean. it was the biggest room we’ve stayed in so far in Japan so was very comfortable to rest as well as Onsen facilities were available. food was delicious and they had many tours we could simply join as a hotel guest like the sunrise tour, or star gazing tour.

Most convenient hotel if you plan to stay overnight at Murodo. Half board meals was ok, and quite a lot of food. Old style hotel, but facilities remained good. Love the lounge with piano on 5th floor. Staff were polite. Public hot bath is pretty small.

all good
