Severin offers a nice balance between the natural beauty of Mombassa and the modern comforts of a well managed beach resort. The buffet food was good at every meal, breakfast and dinner. The fresh local produce was expertly prepared. I appreciated the attention to healthy options including the morning glass of detox juice and the sunflower seeds, fresh yogurt and muesli. The vegetable dishes at dinner were so tasty. Every nite there were so many delicious options. The fry stations provided a wonderful selection of meats and seafood. Simple dishes including coleslaw and salads were turned into wonderful creations with seafood, fruits, avocado and nuts. I appreciated the pictorial history of the resort showing the family roots from Europe and the local Kenyan involvement. The current manager, Tuva, can be seen throughout the resort actively participating in the operations of the facility. The staff is of the highest calibre, genuinely friendly and sincerely concerned with each clients enjoyment. Around 4:00pm each day a large troop of monkeys appear in the beautiful grass and garden area between the buildings housing the guests rooms. They are so much more entertaining and cooperative than the squirrels and raccoons of Canada. The beach has many local vendors and service providers who are all respectful of the hotel guests and can provide many options to enhance your stay. I highly recommend a snorkel excursion aboard the Mullah with captain Sinbad. It was one of the most spectacular swims, with giant coral, rays, sea snakes, a wide variety of coloured fish and the largest and fastest lobster I have ever seen. Sinbad goes on the swim with the group expertly pointing out the attractions. Bring your underwater camera. The tide goes way out each day so get your swims in early and late. This is convenient avoiding the midday sun. Water shoes are helpful to explore the expanded beach area at low tide.

Some of the entrainment was fun but on a few nites it was little dull. I appreciate the wide variety of gusts, so this is understandable.

quality of the food was great and the staff were very helpful and polite. the atmosphere of the place was nicely designed and many details were taken into consideration.

one of the two swimming pools was under maintenance and we couldn’t use that one during our stay. it wasn’t mentioned at the time of booking, moreover their work was a little bit noisy and annoying. We also wanted toothpaste and brush which was not on the room and they said they don’t have. the problem was that there was no market around to buy those items. I believe that if a hotel doesn’t want to supply such basic items (a dental kit is almost available in every 3 star hotel) at least it needs to be said somewhere in the booking so guests can bring one.

The property is quite peaceful, neat and calm. I especially liked the carved wooden doors, bed frame and sofa in the room. I loved the large double bed. The gardens are lush and well taken care off. Rooms are clean and specious. The Swing Beach Bar was really nice and a great place for a sundowner. The front office and reception staff were very helpful, polite and kind. The hotel is eco friendly.

The pillows in my room were hard and lumpy; they should consider replacing with some fluffy and soft ones. The guards were rude on one incident and embarrassed me and my visitor unnecessarily but the matter was quickly resolved by the front office.

The cleanliness, prompt action from staff, considerateness (I checked in late but they had a meal waiting for me), spacious rooms as well.

Realized when I got there that they had a dress code that banned short dresses for their dining area, I'm not a short dress person but such things should be communicated in advance not at check in. Also someone billed alcohol to my room number. My schedule was so hectic that I basically went there daily to just sleep and wake up early in the morning for my next activity

- This resort is one of the few authentic Kenyan ones. It is very nicely layed out with many outdoor corners and with pretty large green areas facing the sea to relax and enjoy. - Room ( apartment) we picked was deluxe with balconies closest to the beach possible there with direct Seaview, private garden, just fantastic. - Gym was very much appreciated, it was 5m from our door and equipped with TechnoGym. - Food quality, it's variety was very good and shefs are making extra mile for your comfort. - there are few funny beach guys in blue uniforms to help you with your daily activities and one of them is Juma. He is very humble and super nice guy made two trips to MTwapa beach for us and even his own house. We highly recommend him. Juma - 0735 525059

- Lack of communication with the reception and no much of response meanwhile booking. Well, easier when there.

We enjoyed everything. The staff was very friendly and the food was palatable. There was plenty of space for everyone, therefore the sun-beds were not close to each other.

We would have benefited from more available English books and TV programs as everything was in German. Also, if you travel to Africa to enjoy beach time, this is not the best destination as there are quite a few sellers on the beach who won't let you relax and for the majority of the day there's a low tide- however, that has nothing to do with the hotel as it is a beautiful paradise with 2 swimming pools.

The room was comfortable The beds for basking were sufficient

The drinking water was purified but l could not adjust to it. The ala carte food made the whole family have a tummy ache The waiter serving at that restaurant had a bad attitude as well.

Really beautiful location right on the clean white sandy Bamburi beach ⛱️. There are deck chairs to relax on under the pretty palms just above the beach.. 2 lovely pools with one with bar into pool. Rooms comfortable with aircon working great. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Love that they share info about the history of the place and that they help the community .

Beds could be improved. No English movie channels on TV, mostly foreign news channels. Rule around men not being allowed to wear shorts in the dining area at night is quite silly given the climate. I recommend the hotel puts a sign up at dance floor saying no glass allowed instead of calling guests out.

We spent 3/4 nights here at the beginning of the year & it was great. The facilities were good 2 pools, lovely gardens & grounds with lots of sun-loungers, 3 restaurants (a la carte & buffet), 2 bars, pool tables, evening entertainment. The staff were friendly and made our stay as comfortable as possible. One person in our party needed a strict gluten free diet and Chef Evelyne went out of her way to prepare amazing meals (eg breakfast pancakes) which were tasty & safe. Also good to have a variety of booking options from B&B to full-board. Severin is excellent value for money in Mombasa's north coast.

A minor gripe but it was sometimes difficult to get the staff's attention to order drinks / food from the sun loungers, possibly because the resort was packed during peak season.

Staff, Breakfast, tv and channels and bed. options to have seafood on the dhow. right on the beach also so no need to travel far.
