The location was very strategic - very near to Kuching waterfront, eateries and souvenir shopping places. Breakfast was simple but very good. Very nice fresh English bread and indeed good black coffee which is free flow. The room is very clean, neat, and well-designed, which makes me feel at home and the bathroom is contemporary, spacious and comfortable.

The distance from check in counter was rather far from the rooms and I had to hike up several staircases. Not very convenient if the visitor brings large and heavy trolley luggage. Otherwise, this would not be an issue for light travelers. Perhaps the management could consider to provide a more convenient access to the rooms from the check in counter.

We stayed in the ground floor wing, at the back of the property which is raised above the pool. The hotel is on a hill, access is easier from the car park. This may be an issue if you have restricted mobility. The room was spacious, clean with a large bathroom. Daily room service replenished water etc. The breakfast is minimal - toast, cereal, coffee, tea, juice. If you want something more substantial there are cafés etc nearby, including The Granary which is within the grounds which is excellent. The pool is not large, about 1.2m deep and not notably chlorinated. The staff are really friendly and the house keeping worked around our erratic hours. We extended our stay directly with the hotel as their website was cheaper - confirm prices before you book as they initially tried to charge us more than the website price. This may have been a language issue.

There is a bar nearby that plays quite loud into the early hours. I've seen David Guetta live and I think he'd be impressed with the level of bass achieved. The staff must use sign language. My wife uses earbuds anyway, so she wasn't affected.

Great location - walking distance to many eateries and the river bank, nice ambience of the hotel, old building yet well-maintained, great swimming pool

The ceiling is super thin, there was a family living upstairs and it was super noisy - the footsteps, the speaking noise, pulling of chairs

I like the concept of this stay, the concept is to die for and I love the deco n interior of it. This colonial-like building has three levels and there are common place at 2nd & 3rd level (you can get the view of Sarawak DUN building). Surely will stay here again.

I wasn't clear with the check-in procedure as the front counter and the designated parking for the stay (need to enter via St Mary church) are quite far. Maybe need to put on notice for that so the future guests wouldn't get confused.

the first floor rooms are not sound proof so all the footsteps, bags being moved around etc from the above floor travel through the ceiling almost as if thee people were in your room. if people are in the communal sitting area talking, you can hear it all loud and clear. a small price to pay for the opportunity to stay somewhere so historically beautiful though.

The place was very unique. I loved the old building, the open design, the great view of the city, and the close access to great sites. I also enjoyed the pool and the lovely landscaping around the hotel. The cost was very affordable.

I thought the rooms and conditions were to be expected given the budget price. One thing I think could change would be the mosquito situation. The open design will mean mosquitos, but I think there could be some efforts to have screens on any entries into the actual rooms. This will limit the number of mosquitos coming in.

Lovely and close to the river and central Kuching. Easy access to a wide range of restaurants, cafes and museums. Rooms basic but clean. The pool was easy to access and clean. Cereal toast jam and tea/coffee was handy in the mornings but fairly basic. Hotel had a welcoming atmosphere and had an interesting history of different uses over the years, which added to its interesting character

A few steps to climb up to the rooms could trouble some people, although we were fine with this.

The building is a living history. It was built more than hundred years ago during the Rajah's era, and repurposed into a very beautiful hotel now. It is one of the most authentic colonial house that I have had visited in Malaysia. It has more than I expected, and I was surprised on my first sight of the hotel upon arrival from the airport! Perfect if you like to enjoy a piece of Kuching history on your visit here. Location is perfect. It is near to almost all attractions in the tourism centre. You can either walk, for take a Grab with little cost. By the way, KANTIN at The Granary within this hotel was always full house. It must be extremely delicious, especially the forest rice!

The sound proof is not good enough. However this is perfectly understood, and common for colonial era British building. This is because it used a lot of wooden structure for the building.

The hotel has a unique charme and I loved the interior with all the collected vintage items. The pool is very nice, surrounded by green palm trees. The location is fabulous as it‘s on top of a little hill so you enjoy a nice view without staying in one if those massive waterfront hotels. Staff was super friendly and helpful at all times.

Just be aware that it is an old building, so the isolution is not that good. Therefor it is a bit noisy as you can hear your neighbours in the surrounding rooms. There are also a few bars across the street that play loud music in the evenings. However if you ask for a quiet rooms (f.e. by the pool) it is a very lovely hotel and a authentic stay!!

The location. Walking distance to Waterfront and many shops. Classic looking building. Good shower, big bathroom and comfy mattress. Love the classic and nostalgia element of this building.

Bedroom too small. Basic furnishings but conditions still good. Pillows can be more comfortable if can provide double than just one. luckily they provide cushions. Toilet surprisingly quite spacious compared to the bedroom itself… LOL… Quite noisy at night because too near to few pubs. If you are a light sleeper, then you probably having trouble to get enough good quality sleep. Parking is limited and available but not straight forward. You will need to find out where to find the entrance because this lodging house is inside church compound. Huge area.
