One of the most charming colonial hotel of all my journey to Mexico. Conveniently located just 5 minutes by walk from the main square of San Cristobal it's the right accomodation if you want to visit properly the historic centre. Room was very cosy and in colonial style. No heating is available so during the night it was a little bit cold and so there is the chance to light the fireplace just aside the bed. Very fascinating. Staying there is like a time machine. You can have a trip back to the past.

Everything was perfect

Very nice place very colorful close to everything the rooms are rustic

If you stay at the rooms close to the street you can hear all the noise from cars. If you suffer from back pain the beds are very hard

The Diego is a BIG hotel. It actually spans a whole city block. There are beautiful courtyards inside the gates from the street. The rooms are huge and spotless clean. The staff was terrific and very helpful. The location is fantastic. Literally a one minute walk to the central town park, shopping, and restaurants.

The parking is free, but the lot is difficult to find. Even finding a place to park on the street while a hotel staff member guides you to the lot can be difficult

Staff were very accommodating and allowed us to check in at 9am after we arrived on a 12 hour bus as our room was available, a lovely gesture. The man who sells earrings at the front of the hotel is so friendly and gave us some tips and a daily chat! Room was very spacious and comfy bed.

The corridors were a little echo-y so the noise could travel, we had kids beside us who were playing very early in the morning- bring earplugs, but I always recommend that

The hotel is in a beautiful setting. We loved all of the plants and decorations. It is in a great location.

It was cold enough when we were there so it would have been nice to have a small space heater in the room. Perhaps we could have asked for one?

At the entrance on the let is a small display stand selling local artisan works and most day after 4 you will see Omar standing beside it. He's been doing this for 16 years. Omar is friendly, a gentle and considerate man. Getting to know him, he speaks good English with a Yorkshire accent and is a mine of local where to go, what to do. For me meeting Omar was the best thing about my stay. I had breakfast each day, a freshly made omelette with lots of veggies. Delicious. The dining room has an old fashioned feel to it, as does the whole hotel, and this is meant as a compliment. The fountain in the centre on the courtyard and the fresh flowers in the water, unusual and wonderful.

The reception staff spoke little English so very difficult to engage with. An observation not a criticism.

Really nice looking hotel in the middle of San Cristobal.Walking distance from ADO bus station. Rooms are big clean and beautiful . Only problem was that there is no wifi in the rooms.

Wifi didnt work in our room, so when we had to work online we had to go to the lobby or outside of our room.
