-The room was super lovely, spacious and just relaxing. -The barthroom was setup well, good shower -The room was also super clean which i like a lot -The location was so close the the city center it was really useful, just a 5 minute walk and you where in the big square of the town - The breakfast option was small in the restaurant(next door) but a welcoming gesture, with well selected options of quality dishes This is a good place if you visit Bacalar

-The water pressure was a bit weak for the rain showerhead but it worked -The power outlets where on interesting spots, to say in a kind matter That are my only small complains Overall a really good place to stay if you visit Bacalar

This hotel is in the greatest location. We loved being in the middle of Bacalar! If you like walking, we were easily able to walk down to the lagoon and downtown district and up to park area surrounding the historical Spanish fort. We were right near a cute Italian restaurant that had live music playing every day and the market. Tons of food options. Safe and fun! The hotel room was larger than most! The beds were extremely comfortable. The balcony had the greatest views. I felt at home- every amenity you could ask. Including free on-site parking! There are no complaints! I have nothing but compliments for Hotel Sur Bacalar. But most importantly, the staff was phenomenal! I wish I could acknowledge the young at the front desk- not only was her smile welcoming, anything we asked, she accommodated us promptly. We enjoyed our stay to the highest degree!

Nothing negative. I didn’t stay long enough! If I knew the property was this great in advance, I would have extended my stay.

Great location walking distance to everything ! close enough to all the shops and the lagoon . There alot of tourist attractions and tours . The hotel staff was really nice and helpful.

Unfortunately Breakfast was not included for the apartment / family room because we had a kitchen stay even though it was advertised on booking . Really didn't plan on cooking during vacation so breakfast would have been nice so had the additional cost of going out for breakfast.

Great location, close to lively square with restaurants (this is also where the (good) breakfast is). Breakfast is good. There’s a very good italian next door (you get 15% off by showing your key, we found out only after eating for the 3rd time hehe). Shower wouldn’t be really hot in the morning, but was always warm in the evening (solar power). Feels like environment friendly hotel, like no throwaway shampoo bottles. Room looked nice. Would definitely recommend staying at Hotel Sur.

The pool and the place around it are a bit small. Only 3 lying chairs. With a group of 4 friends, a family of 5 and 2 other couples in the hotel, the pool and the chairs where full most of the time. Also the pool was not really clean (hairs got stuck in my tows..) There’s no - please do/don’t clean my room sign. Only a sign that says if you leave your towels on the floor they will be changed. They didn’t clean first day, but when we asked the seccond day, it was done nicely (although we didn’t put out towels on the floor, they changed them anyway..). Our door wouldn’t close all the way (see picture)

Location is sublime. Rooms were clean and got cleaned daily. It’s one of the few hotels with a pool! The pizzeria next door smells and is delicious. Staff very friendly and there is always someone attending the desk. The breakfast is really tasty - its a 5 min walk but we didn’t mind. Also, they have a bike rack on the property so you don’t need to park your bikes on the streets. Wifi works well!

Some parts of the room could use a small upgrade. For example, the shower drain smelled. They provide a lid to put on it but this is more battling the symptoms than the problem at hand. They forgot to clean our room one day, but they addressed it properly. Pool can get crowded if more than 30% of the rooms (there are 8) decides to have a pool day. There was also a huge crack next to our front door so when the door was closed you could easily see the reception outside. It’s also an invitation for insects to come inside.

This was one of my favorite hotels I have ever stayed out. So peaceful, clean, simple, friendly helpful staff, a couple blocks from the laguna and park, right next to a restaurant. Get breakfast included- you basically get to go to a restaurant and have free breakfast every day, so worth it. A/C in rooms. Super cute pool area. We made so many friends hanging out by the pool! Its so safe here, I walked around alone at night, no problem at all. Lots of police patrolling, the locals are so kind and helpful. I am a very picky person when it comes to hotels but this place is seriously a dream. -Two young female travelers rate this 10/10!

I wish the rooms had a mini fridge and microwave. There are some mosquitos/bugs outside but this is simply a location thing. Bring bugspray!

A lovely little hotel in a beautiful setting. The location was excellent - very close to the lagoon. The rooms were big and comfortable. We particularly liked the complementary cacao body wash! The breakfast (at the restaurant next door) was tasty and well organised with enough choice to suit all tastes.

The location of most activities was within close proximity. The park was two blocks away and the lagoon one a block away. The tour of the seven colors is a must-do. No need to book in advance.

The Mediterranean restaurant next door where the complimentary breakfast was provided (included in the hotel booking) was a little pricey.

Amazing hotel, excellent location, beautifully clean and quiet, courteous staff and excellent service, laundry services are available in the hotel at an excellent price

The breakfast included in the price is served in the restaurant next to the hotel, there is no selection and the food is not tasty. don’t recommend

Location within 2 minutes from the port and 5 minutes from the center is perfect. It’s also on a very nice and quiet street close to some nice artworks on buildings. The restaurant where you can have breakfast is in the center so you have to walk there, but the location (Savor Bakhala) and food is totally worth it! Restaurant next door, although not affiliated, is all great.

Rooms are comfy but outdated. Needs some maintenance (especially the sink area!) and a refresh. Then again this is totally reflected in the price in my opinion as it was great value for money.
