Casa Hormiga is a little oasis in a somewhat busy town. This was a last minute booking due to various reasons (now I wish I had booked this place first and for longer!!!). It has been designed exceptionally well to muffle noises from different areas. We loved our room (the kids especially liked their ‘upstairs’ room. Huge bed. First night our youngest slept with us as she had been unwell and it was fine. Pool is deliciously refreshing! Loved it. I really enjoyed the breakfast (and they were kind enough to make us stronger coffee as being Brazilian we don’t like weak coffee) - nothing was ever too much for the staff. The standout point about the stay though was the staff. So kind and attentive. Victor at the desk was so kind - our youngest daughter was ill on the first night and he was so helpful. Also the bar/kitchen staff were also attentive. Honestly, your staff are amazing!!

Nothing. I know my parents were kept awake with the dogs barking and the cockerel in the morning but ear plugs are provided by the hotel - and it’s not their fault so….

Wow, what a beautiful hotel. We loved our stay here. The whole style and design throughout is amazing. We did a free yoga class one morning and used the free bikes regularly to get around. The hotel is very well located and also very close to the natural eco park which is a gorgeous place to swim. We really enjoyed the food too!

We chose to do one of the lagoon boat trips at 8am which meant that we missed our included breakfast (perhaps they’d consider earlier sittings as it seems like a popular excursion time). It would’ve been nice if they’d have offered a takeaway option, but then again, we also didn’t ask!

1. Noise - not a fault of the hotel which itself is very peaceful, but being surrounded on all sides by residential you will be woken by roosters and dogs barking. The hotel does provide earplugs but didn’t help us, probably worst sleep of our tour around the Yucatan. 2. In room facilities - for a hotel at this price point and pitched as luxury, no hairdryer is disappointing, similarly no tea or coffee making facilities nor cold water. 3. Breakfast - whilst nice, was odd to have the only included options as fried or scrambled eggs, with yoghurt / porridge a $5-6 surcharge as can’t imagine cost differential to hotel to be that big.

The property was stunning. The architecture of the hotel, the small jungles we’d find in every corner and the pools made this hotel truly outstanding and remarkable. Every room’s balcony was private, so it was perfect to relax in peace. The food served at the restaurant was very food.

despite all the good of the hotel. I still think it was overpriced, especially considering the amount of amenities that aren’t available in the rooms (small fridges, hair dryer, etc.). The pool is not heated in the evening which makes it difficult to enjoy it after the sunset. The services offered at the hotel (yoga courses or massages) were expensive.

We came here as part of our honeymoon and this hotel proved to be the perfect choice. Everything about the hotel from the location to the friendly staff was amazing. They went great effort to make sure we were welcomed with a lovely surprise on our arrival. The hotel itself is fantastic with an amazing design and amenities. Hopefully we will come back here again some time in the future.

I was so excited to see your library… it made my work stay that much more inspiring… what I didn’t appreciate is that I borrowed a small Taschen “Living in Bali” pool side and I literally was scolded like a child who stole something and they took the book away from me and it didn’t feel that nice or courteous. Honest truth. Perhaps if those are the rules… you can make the verbal transaction much more nicer. Excellent breakfast staff!

The room is beautiful and quiet. The outside and common areas are nice. Pools are ok. We loved swinging at the hammock outside the room.

The atmosphere was tending to be relaxed but actually for us it was quiet stressful. At breakfast, they needed to get organized especially for a table for 4. the waitresses totally forgot to explain that we had to order the hot meal as eggs and the rest. She did it as we were finishing and about to leave. And in general you are encouraged to be very quiet.

The design and location were great, easy walk or bike ride to the shore. So peaceful and beautiful, you could really relax.

I think the restaurant was good, but the staff were still getting to know their way around and understanding the dishes. So just some work to be done here but I'm sure they will quickly learn. Maybe have a few simpler dishes on the menu as well.

EVERYTHING! the place is absolutely heaven on earth. everything was in point. it is an eco friendly and they thought of every detail to make our stay wonderful. i loved having a yoga class every morning. The quality of the food served is really good and healthy. the staff is extremely helpful and nice. they have bicycle that we borrowed to discover the city. they booked our tour to the lagoons with an amazing tour guide.

This hotel is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! A Moroccan style in Mexico. The location is walking distance from the lagoon and into town and nearby restaurants. However the property is magical, a true hidden gem in little Bacalar

The bed was smaller than expected, with a room as big as it is, I though a bigger bed would be great. I thought the add ons of yoga classes, and other activities were quite pricey, there was also a misunderstanding as I assumed yoga was included, as no price was given, I was shocked to receive a $27 bill.
