I really enjoyed my stay at the terrific Asterisk Hotel! I liked that it has that family feeling instead of dealing with a big hotel chain. Location was fantastic. My room was upgraded upon arrival and check-in was a breeze. I especially appreciated that the hotel is very close to the tram and a great breakfast restaurant, De Carrousel Pannenkoeken.

This hotel is beautifully decorated and the room was bigger than I expected it to be. I knew that we would be traveling with 2 large suitcases, so the elevator was a motivating factor when booking. Breakfast is not offered, but there is a wonderful coffee machine (and other beverages) that are available throughout the day for a reasonable price. The location is perfect (quick and easy walk to the Rijiks Museum) and the staff were friendly and helpful.

There was a strange sewage smell that was sometimes worse than others. My guess is that it had to do with a city surrounded by canals and less with the cleanliness of the hotel. Not sure if anything can be done about that.

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Asterisk! The check-in process was smooth and hassle-free, and we were greeted by very welcoming staff who made the time to explain everything important about our stay and the city. The hotel's location is very nice, with easy access to the metro and tram. The room was also a pleasant surprise, spacious and spotlessly clean, something that was very important to us. The comfortable bed made our stay truly enjoyable. By default, this hotel will be our go-to hotel in Amsterdam! Looking forward to staying here again on our next visit.

While my stay at pleasant, I should mention the occasional noise disturbance from the walls, likely from the plumbing or pump system. The sound wasn't constant, but when it occurred, it was noticeable enough to wake me up once during the night.

The hotel is in a great location, close enough to the centre but not right in the midst of all the action, so it was nice to come back to in the evening. There are also great places around for brunch or dinner. The room was very spacious, the staff was friendly and the heating worked well (it was very cold on the first day we arrived). This is the 2nd time I stayed at this hotel (previous time was around 5 years ago) and I would stay again.

Someone was blow drying their hair late at night and it sounded like someone had put on vibration mode on our phones, it was so loud and would have woken us up if we had been sleeping already. Very steep stairs, be mindful of those but I believe there is a lift. Also, the bathroom was a bit on the small side.

Beautiful room--large, with high ceilings and huge windows, tastefully decorated and comfortable. Comfortable bed. Fantastic location--lovely, quiet street but convenient to Metro and several tram lines, and easily walkable to many things in central Amsterdam. Friendly and helpful staff. There is a lovely park with gardens a few steps from the hotel. Very easy to get to the hotel from the airport by train and metro--quick and easy to navigate for someone unfamiliar with Amsterdam who doesn't speak Dutch, and a very short walk through a small park to the hotel from the Metro stop.

Visitors should be aware that like most hotels in the Netherlands, there is no A/C and it can be hot at night. Light cotton blankets would have been good to have available. Stairs up to the rooms are very narrow and steep, but there was a small elevator. No breakfast, and there were very limited options nearby open early for breakfast. These were minor quibbles; it's a terrific hotel and I was very happy with my stay.

Lovely property in a great location. We had a larger room in their ‘annex’ which is in a house down the street. We really enjoyed it. Our room had two comfy chairs, a wardrobe, a desk with two chairs, a kettle, a nice large bathroom and even an outdoor patio as we were on the first floor in the back. Very clean and well maintained. Quick and easy check in and out. The location is fantastic as you can walk easily to just about everything plus you’re just down the street from trams and metro and one of the canal cruises. Lots of places to eat nearby.

There was one night we could hear sounds through the wall like a baby crying but usually it was nice and quiet.

The hotel was well positioned in a quiet area of Amsterdam, within easy access of the city centre, whilst also being close to a quieter area of bars and restaurants. The metro is just two stops from the central station, and the hotel just a five minute walk from the metro, although you can also walk into town quite easily. The Rijksmuseum is less than a ten minute walk away. The room was good value for money, and was spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable, the room warm (we stayed during a chilly March), and the shower room had all the things you might need. Staff were friendly and helpful. The welcome drink and leaving gift were very nice touches. We would definitely stay again.

Everything was fine. A small request: decaffeinated coffee in the bedroom would be nice.

Warmth of the staff immediately makes you feel like you are home. I had a two night stay after a week of business travel in Amsterdam and the Hague. After a busy week, it was like going home. At check in, the ladies warmly welcomed me and the process was efficient. There is a complimentary drink as a welcome to the premise and traveling in late fall, a coffee helped. At check out, I was given a little treat which is now settled on my office desk.

There is little to complain about with Hotel Asterik. The bathroom has a half door in the shower which means water splashes to the dressing area.

Superb Hotel. Superb Staff. Owner ~ Yulan (hope I didn't butcher that name) is hands on and super friendly Location is Amazing. A real short 4 min walk from the Vizjelgracht Metro, that takes you all over Amsterdam

Only one pillow for a double bed. I mentioned this each night, and was told by different Front Desk Staff Workers they were all out. Brought it to Yulans attention on my check out and he said they had plenty in the basement. His Staff needs further training. No big deal, really. Upon checking out Yulan gave me a thoughtful gift (this was before our pillow talk. Shows how nice he is).

The Hotel Asterisk is well-located. I came to Amsterdam by train and easily reached the hotel with a direct metro line. When I checked into the hotel, the personnel was friendly and helpful. I booked for a single room and regarding the photos I thought the room was so small. However, every need is considered for a guest to make the stay more comfortable. The room was clean, cosy and fresh. There was tea, coffee, a kettle, a little fan and a locker to keep valuable stuff. I stayed 3 nights and I just walked any street of Amsterdam from my hotel. If it was needed to use the metro, I was 5 minutes away. A friend of mine who came to Amsterdam at the same time stayed in another hotel. Although his hotel was more expensive, he stayed in a place that didn't even have a window. I won't be looking for another hotel for my next visit to Amsterdam. Thank you very much for your hosting.

There isn't any breakfast option. However, there are many nice cafes. The bathroom was the outside of the room. Since the building is old, it is understandable. Although I would prefer my bathroom inside the room, it wasn't a big deal during my stay.
