Location and the tram availability were exceptional. Very easy to get around the city. Breakfast was very good and the staff was very friendly. Would recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Former residence of a famous medical doctor who ambitioned himself to build in Amsterdam a Grand Hotel like in London or Paris, superbly designed and positioned right on the Amstel river, owning their own fleet of historic rare salon boats, the staff takes great pleasure in serving with dignity and efficency. Food is to remember. Nice spa and pool. All the prominent people have stayed and are staying here.

I liked the beauty of the whole building, carried throughout all the spaces, both common and private. The hotel in general was luxurious without being lavish or pretentious. The room was cozy and had every amenity you could hope for. The view over THE amstel river was superb. The bathroom was very spacious. Now the spa, it is small but it has all my favorites. I love me some steam bath and cold shower cycles. It has also a sauna and a plunge pool. The indoor pool is absolutely beautiful. The light in there and the decoration makes feel like in meet Joe Black. I spent 2 hours doing chill laps and overall enjoying myself. The gym seems smal but well equipped. All in all me and my fiancé thoroughly enjoyed and found it romantic as heck.

The only thing I was not impressed by was the breakfast buffet. You re better off either hitting any breakfast place in Amsterdam or just ordering a la carte in the hotel restaurant if you feel like staying in. Also we were not informed that in the weekend, the spa closes extremely early (5pm).

This was a very special stay. We stayed in Room 410 - what we reckoned must be the best room in the hotel, and it felt like we were on top of the world - views to die for, a balcony, 2 fabulous bathrooms, and an enormous bed. The spa was amazing, and very quiet during our stay. Lydia, our masseuse, was great. We thought the service at the Amstel was excellent. We would love to return.

Guest services was perfect. Greeted with a smile and given an incredible room. However, service in the restaurant really struggled. They forgot items, never came to check on us and seem to focus too much on setting the tables instead of the customers.

wow I have to congratulate the staff! everyone is very polite and smiling and they want you to feel at your best. The breakfast was very good also. the location is not in the middle of downtown, where there is a lot of noise. it is in very quiet area that is 10 mins away from downtown by metro. extremely elegant vibe. 10/10

Whenever I come to Amsterdam I stay at this hotel, I like the style. Great atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff, nice facilities.

Though the restaurant is good it isn’t as great or special as it used to be when it was La Rive. Limited menu, no dishes on there which stand out. Also limited choice of wines.

hotel itself is just like a palace. staff is amazingly kind and attentive. best hotel i ever stay. delicious breakfast with a great canal view. so elegant and super luxurious
