Excellent location adjacent to the Metro in a quiet neighborhood but close to restaurants and an easy walk to central Amsterdam, the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum and more. Room is very modern and recently updated. Bed is very comfortable. Breakfast is very good. The ground floor bar and living area are very comfortable and inviting - a good thing because the room is too small for more than one person to spend much time in. Staff are very friendly, helpful and down to Earth!

The arrival was a bit off putting in that you need to ring a buzzer to enter the place and the check in was largely automated so an early check in did not seem to be possible. But they did hold our bags until check in. Rooms are VERY small, even for Europe but the living room like ground floor was a nice place to hang out in the evening. The iPad controller for the lights (and everything else) was a bit annoying, especially when trying to turn on the bathroom lights in the middle of the night. Was a simple switch not feasible? But the place ultimately won me over.

I absolutely LOVED the artistic decor! The room was super comfortable & I loved all the little details such as the meditation channel you can put on your tv & how the bathroom lights change colour. I think the Citizen M pillow mascots are super cute too. They have one of the BEST breakfasts I’ve ever had in a hotel. So much variety & they actually have gluten free options. The staff are also really friendly & helpful. Location is really central & within walking distance to restaurants & cafes.

The room temperature felt really cold despite turning it up to the warmest setting using the room iPad. Staff were able to adjust this from their computer, which made it more comfortable.

Staff really helpful and friendly. The hotel was very comfortable and clean. The location was excellent; there is a tram stop right outside the hotel and the Metro is a few minutes walk. Approx. 15 to 20 minute walk to Rembrandt Corner.

The bedroom window looked out into a courtyard and opposite other bedrooms. Privacy in the room was an issue if you did not have the 'black-out' blind down, which during the day was not really appropriate. Also, you could hear the noise from other motorised blinds in adjacent rooms going up and down, something that bizarrely appeared to happen automatically each time you enter the room. After a couple of days we got used to it.

The location isn't perfect for getting to things by foot, but right on a metro+tram station which is useful for many destinations and makes arriving to the hotel from the train station extremely easy. For getting around I'd recommend using the rental bike they offer. I didn't do it and ended up walking way too much. There's no good supermarket nearby, but the Albert Heijn in the metro station was enough for essentials and the occasional snack (keep in mind it closes at 17:00) The staff were amazing, they were super helpful and nice throughout the entire stay. Breakfast was good and reliable. I liked the pastries and the yogurt. The coffee at breakfast was also really good. The bed was very comfy, especially the pillows, and the shower was as strong as advertised. I also got a room with a view to the tram stop on the street and I absolutely loved it. When I needed a break from my trip I just sat there and watched the world go by. The room itself is very well designed to maximize the small space. It would've been a bit crowded for a couple but worked great for me as a solo traveller.

The mini fridge in the room didn't work. The ipad-controlled smart curtains were a bit fiddly and I would've preferred a traditional switch. It felt like a gimmick more than a useful feature.

Location was great, surrounded by a lot of good shops and places to eat. Not too far from anything, especially with the use of the bikes. The bed was almost too comfy as it was very hard to get out of, the shower quite modern and became better with the ability to control the lights. The general menu was pretty good with what I tried being different but great. And no problems with the staff then being some of the nicest I’ve come across.

The only slightly negative thing I found was the little variety in breakfast options, for some it might’ve been alright but as someone that doesn’t really like egg of mushrooms there wasn’t really much for me

Comfortable room, spaced bathroom, big bed, good sheets, pillows and towels. everything was very clean and the details like my name on the tv and the little toy on the bed! amazing welcoming. I felt home, which is so difficult when you’re traveling for long days. welcoming reception always friendly and smiling :) also I loved the lightening options via iPad, all the room was very lighted designed and cozy! air play was amazing and all the charges around the bed and table.. you thought of everything!

the price of the breakfast. and my citizen app didn’t worked so I felt confused to know about my booking and checking in.

The staff were just wonderful and helpful in every way; the property is very clean and super comfortable plus the breakfast was varied, healthy, and delicious. I like that if you have breakfast, you’re able to have complimentary tea and coffee 24/7 in the spacious lobby areas. The location with the tram and metro in front of the hotel make getting around easy. The staff is knowledgeable about getting around too. Five star service in the details.

I wish the lunch dinner menu offered more fresh foods like salads and fruits. There aren’t many really good restaurants nearby. Bring a washcloth as none are provided. Bring your Netflix account because if you don’t, tv in English is limited to BBC.

Very good location, very friendly / helpful staff, clean hotel and practical processes (check-in, etc.). Decent breakfast, inviting and comfy spaces in the lobby to lounge / hang around / have a drink.

The room really is quite small. Bathroom door can't be locked. All the lighting is automated via a tablet, and it is (or was) not possible to for ex. only turn on the light in the bathroom.

Everything. The hotel was so stylish and fun, the lobby bar and lounge were welcoming. Excellent cocktails. The location was perfect, with the metro and team lines right there, walking everywhere was also easy. We were thankful to be in a quieter neighborhood. And the windows were well insulated, we couldn't hear anything. And with Bar Lempicka, Bakhuys and Capital Kitchen all steps away, it's really wonderful. The staff went above and beyond on my daughter's birthday. This was my first stay at a Citizen M but I see more in my future.

The only thing we didn't like was we couldn't turn the bathroom lights on or off without the iPad. That was annoying but not a big deal

The staff in the hotel were so welcoming. They were enthusiastic and so helpful. The hotel had a great vibe, was unique, the decor was trendy, with many modern touches and was very clean. The room had pretty much everything you need.

Tea and coffee in the rooms would be nice. The bed is also fitted between 2 walls, so you have to climb onto the bed. Not a problem for us, but would be for travellers who may have limited mobility.
