The staff are absolutely incredible, super helpful, really accommodating and nice. We stayed in two rooms:The rooms are fantastic and beautifully designed. The small room was completely fine and had a ton of space, and the small room with a view was beautiful and not small at all! And the view was amazing! Breakfast was simple but diverse and tasty :) And lastly this is my favorite area in Amsterdam it’s so beautiful waking up to the canals and staying in one of the canal houses. The hotel is clean and cozy!

The no elevator but that comes along with being on a hotel in the canal district. Not too many stairs tho!

Last minute booking and didn't quite know what to expect. Didn't even look at the pictures that closely. So I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived - friendly staff, room had a balcony which I wasn't expecting, cute decor, absolutely spotless. Definitely would stay again.

Was there on one of the hottest days of the summer and only when I got there did I realise the rooms didn't have AC. Luckily they did have a plug in fan in the room which made the hear bearable. Selection at breakfast was a bit light if you're there for more than a couple of days. No hot food other than boiled eggs and a toaster. Luckily I like yogurt.

Max Brown Hotel Canal District is a charming and eclectic hotel on the corner of the Herengracht and the Brouwersgracht. It's a lovely location close to many shops, dining, and cultural experiences. Very walkable to explore the Jordaan or other neighborhoods. Using trams and trains is easy, and it's 7 minute walk from Centraal Station, so easy to access via train from any major city or airport. The breakfast included hot foods, meats, eggs, cheese, coffee and juice, fresh breads and pastries, fruit, yogurt, and more. It was a delicious meal and they serve breakfast until 11:00am. I appreciated the warm welcome at reception and the offer for a drink on the house while I stayed there. I had a great clean room, comfy bed, with modern bathroom and plenty of space, Wifi, could make coffee/tea in my room, and a sweet garden view. Two windows opened for fresh air and to watch boats sail by on the Herengracht. I liked how Max Brown owns several canal houses together. They have luggage storage if you arrive early, bike rentals, great coffee and drinks on tap, and more. Awesome map and high quality suggestions on local restaurants and bars for my stay. I felt safe there on my own and lived like a local during the 4 days I stayed here, and I look forward to returning again soon, or to another Max Brown property!

Nothing: I had a really wonderful visit and enjoyed the warm staff, great food, quiet location, and high quality of the Max Brown Hotel Canal District.

Lovely boutique hotel, housed in a heritage building, in an excellent location. Top restaurants, coffeeshops, bars are a stone's throw away. Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum, De Wallen are a 15-20 min walk away. Very warm and genial staff - both at the reception and housekeeping. View of the canal from the room is lovely.

This being a heritage building, there are no lifts and the staircases are narrow and extremely steep (like a ladder). Hauling your luggage up and down is a challenge. Breakfast options are limited (for eg: only boiled eggs). The 'small room with canal view' is seriously small - any luggage you have will take up all the free space.

This place is so cute! The vibe when you enter is so calming and inviting; chill music, dim lights & candles everywhere. The property is very clean and in such a nice neighborhood. It is SO close to the train station and one of the canals is right out the front door too! They have a super nice, dim lit breakfast that was so good and we were really happy they served until 11am. Our room was the cutest thing ever and the bed was the most comfortable bed we had out of 6 during a 2 week trip! The room is decorated with a really cute, modern/industrial feel. They have bikes to rent, which we did, and it was fun to ride through the streets of Jordaan like a true “Amsterdamer”. lol After walking around the rest of Amsterdam Central, we were SO thankful to stay at Max Brown. This neighborhood is by far the cleanest, quietest and safest feeling part of the city! It doesn’t stink like weed in this neighborhood either compared to everywhere else in the city. I would absolutely stay here again and no where else, if I go back to this area!

We were not disappointed about anything with this property. However, with regard to the stairs, I will say that the reviews are true. All the homes in Amsterdam are narrow and tall so it’s kinda the way it is. The stairs, no joke, are like walking up several flights of steep little cheese wedges through a straw! haha. We were on the top floor because we wanted the canal view and I’m so thankful we did that. It was worth it. However, if we were traveling with checked size luggage… it would be near impossible and we might have had to change clothes in the hallway. We are in great shape and it was still an exhausting feat. Just be aware of it before hand and you’ll love that you got the top room! :)

Quirky, modern, cosy & warm. Great location. Reception had a very homely feel to it. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Bed was unbelievably comfy. The room also had a basketball pillow and a hoop on the wall. Which was a nice touch when waiting for the Mrs to get ready 😂👍🏻.

The bathroom in our room. Bit too small and compact. Couldn't stand up in the shower due to the ceiling. Our room was great. But a little gripe would be it was too close to reception/cleaners cupboards/ kitchen etc so could hear banging around in the mornings as they prepared for the day.

Despite being a small room, it was spacious enough and the bed was very comfy for our night stay in Amsterdam. Also, the location is perfect, walking distance from Amsterdam central station and surrouded by so many bars and restaurants, but also a very calm quiet location at the same time.

Although it is expected, since it is Amsterdam, but may be helpful for others to know, be prepared for very steep and narrow staircase, especially if you are travelling with a suitcase. Also, the drain in the bathroom does not work well and the radiator makes a lot of noise, but I guess that comes with the old building construction.

The location was amazing. We could walk to almost every place we had on our itinerary. Super central, everything nice and local but not in a crowded location so also peaceful. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and super helpful in working out directions for us to attractions we wanted to attend that were further away.

We were on the top floor and would have loved a lift lol

excellent location, wonderful views. The staff were very kind to us when we needed to come in for a rest after we’d checked out but before we left Amsterdam - the staff were generally very friendly and helpful. games for use by guests - a nice touch. breakfast nice. nice decor. nice patio area.

the feeling that we always had to ask for help rather than it being offered. lots of stairs, but that’s the price you pay for the scenic location and view. would have appreciated gluten free bread for breakfast (as promised in email) rather than a gluten free cinnamon cracker!

Location here was brilliant, stones throw away from train station and Dam square.

Sofa bed in room wasn't particularly comfortable. Also when booking with Booking.com it said that all taxes were included but we had to pay the taxes when we checked in. I checked my statement and the hotel were correct - not their fault. Booking.com completely false when they say its included. Beware of this if Booking with Booking.com
