Chris was an excellent host! His colleague was waiting for us on arrival and showed us around. The apartment is on the first floor, with really steep stairs leading up to it. I do not recommend for older people or small children. The apartment has everything you need. We had a view of the main street. Chris had prepared two cold beers, wine, soft drinks and small goodies for us on arrival. This really made us happy. The apartment is located in the very centre. Just a few minutes walk from the main train station. Everything is within walking distance. Every day the apartment was cleaned. I can really recommend this accommodation.

A gem of a find in Amsterdam, traditional house in the centre of Amsterdam. Location is perfect you can walk, ride a bike or jump on the tram to get pretty much anywhere. The room is comfortable and bright and had everything we needed for our stay. The stairs are steep but not that bad. David met us and kindly carried our luggage up and downstairs. We even got a box of chocolates on our last day. There’s a bit of noise from the street below but it’s city centre so you have to expect it. Would definitely visit again

The music from the hairdresser downstairs was noisy while they were open. This wasn’t a problem when we were out exploring during the day, but if you wanted to stay in it would be off putting.

Lovely old canal-side house close to Centraal station and the canals and central Amsterdam. The rooms were beautifully dressed and the bed, ridiculously comfy. Note that the accommodation isn't actually by a canal in present times though but this doesn't detract from it's charm. The host, Chris, was excellent. Very friendly and helpful. Beer in 'fridge daily, fresh fruit daily, along with chocolate bars. There was also a folder of Chris's eating and entertainment recommendations, complete with accurate walking distances. Would revisit this place in a shot.

Though lovely, the bedroom is quite small, but then you do get another small room as well. The stairs up to the room are incredibly steep, simply due to the age of the house. They are manageable though and Chris helps with your bags. These comments are for information only, they aren't dislikes - we loved The Sunflower.

I booked a last minute trip to Amsterdam and was very lucky to have the opportunity to stay at the Sunflower. I was meeting up with friends, who had already booked another location, and have to say that their accommodation had nothing on this. The property is ideally located in the centre of Amsterdam, very easy to get to from centraal station, and everywhere else. The room was spotless, very cosy, and has all that you need. The decor was lovely, very dutch feel, and a very comfy bed. I highly recommend this property and will definitely return. This was my first visit to Amsterdam and this has set the tone for future visits. Just be aware that the stairs to enter the property are very steep :)

A fabulously located room. Close enough to the station, but also in the middle of things enough to pop "home" to freshen up or to have a quick lie down. Fantastic host. This is what I've been looking for in a B&B type booking - personal touch, room with character, lovely big windows to feel connected to the city I'm in. Luxuriously big shower with everything provided, even though the bathroom is small. The bed is soft - so that depends what your preference is. Definitely rent bikes.

The location was brilliant. Chris greeted us and was very nice and welcoming. The place itself was clean and comfortable. There were loads of nice little touches such as a booklet with loads of advice on where to go and what to do, a Nespresso machine, some snacks and fruit, juice and some beers and a hair dryer AND hair straightener, which was fab. I thought it was very nice to have a little box filled with the usual bits people forget and need while away, (would be great to throw some panty liners in there too!) it's a lovely touch. Also, some little Strupe waffles 😍 We were delighted to have a large smart tv with Netflix login available. The stairs up was a typical crazy old stairs in Amsterdam and I loved it 😄. It has such character. We had everything we needed anyway. Lovely stay.

A little gem close to all attractions. Chris is the perfect host. Made us feel so welcome. Lovely fruit bowl and snacks were replaced every day. Even Beer and juices in fridge. Very comfortable, clean room with ensuite overlooking a cute street. Next to bakery and short walk to other shops/restaurants. Highly recommend and will return if we come again.

Nothing. Everything was perfect. Just a small comment. There is a very narrow steep stairway with handrails to room. We had small suitcases so was ok for us.

great location in downtown; short walk to attractions/parks/nice restaurants. Room is cozy, with separate sitting area (living room) large enough for us to lay multiple large luggages. Owner Chris is super helpful, and responded to our questions quickly. he goes above and beyond to make sure guests are well taken care of. he helped to arrange taxi to airport. despite early departure, he came to greet us in the morning and even helped with our large luggage. another nice touch is preparing snacks and fruits in the room even though no breakfast included. it’s great place to stay for enjoying city life of Amsterdam.
