Location was a little further away from centre of town but was great for us as we had a car. Very convenient having supermarket across the road. The kItchen was well equipped, and the tea, coffee and cookies provided were a bonus :-) The apartment was very clean and very comfortable, easily accommodating our group of four friends. Hosts Julie and Martin were very receptive and helpful with planning activities etc. plus doing laundry if required. Nothing was a problem. Furthermore, Julie went over and above to return/mail items overseas, that were left behind in the room. We will be back!

Zero complaints about our stay!

Really good location. 15 minute walk to Paihia centre, and the supermarket was across the road. Plenty of parking places there too. The air conditioned apartment was clean and comfortable. Good size with an open plan kitchen/dining area/lounge. One king size bed and one single bed. Kitchen had a two ring hob and a microwave and other kitchen essentials. No private washing machine, but clothes could be washed for a small fee. Balcony area with a barbecue was available too.

I have no complaints

This is a good place to stay for access to Paihia and waitangi. The reception was good too. She knew we were coming for a wedding, so messaged to say we could check in earlier. The place was clean and tidy with everything we needed. We walked in to paihia no problem.

Just one small thing that could be fixed. The bed was situated under a window that had light streaming down on us all night. The blind didn’t help as it just pinpointed the light onto our faces. I am sure this could be sorted and then the room would be perfect.

The room was spacious and very comfortable bed and pillows. The kitchenette was well fitted out with tea, coffee, and milk in the fridge. Julie and Marti were very welcoming and Julie updated us on the Russell ferry cancellations due to bad weather and offered alternative suggestions. Its a short 15 min walk to the ferry along the water which we were aware of. Countdown is just across the road Very good value for money.

For motel accommodation I cant really think of anything we didnt like.

We received a very warm welcome from Julie and Martin. Julie was always available to give advice and suggestions when needed. The room was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The room had all the amenities (including plunger coffee). We loved the location. There is a pleasant outlook, the beach is very close, a supermarket up the road and it is a short 10 minute stroll to the town of Paihia. We were very happy to have stayed at the Gateway Motel.

Very clean and well laid out room. Just on the north end if town but very handy to all facilities and the Waitangi Treaty grounds. Very hospitable hosts who went out of their way to assist us with any queries we had.

Kitchenette was clean and adequately equipped. While a frypan was provided, a small cooktop would have made it perfect.

friendly staff, cleanliness and great location within easy walking distance of the beach which was great for me as I have a disability.

It's not a case of 'didn't like' but I would suggest perhaps installing one or two EV chargers. Be a great way to advertise and attract EV/Hybrid owners to your establishment.

Ideal location as a base to explore the Bay of Islands. Friendly and very helpful owner operators. Clean, comfortable, good shower. Parking right outside the apartment door, gas station 100 metres away, good supermarket just as close. 2 minute drive or 15 minute pleasant walk into Pathia. Wish we had stayed longer, next time we will

Very conveniently located, comfortable and clean. Julie was attentive to our needs and offered great advice about local places to visit and see. We hope to visit again!

Breakfast was not included in the accommodation - nor was it booked.

We were under the impression we could have a water view apartment - in fact the business is located away from the water edge, around a corner & the only water view was from an upstairs apartment at the "front' of the building - which could well have been owners accommodation. This being my first booking with booking.com, I could not find access to the motel directly at the time of booking, to ask if what we wanted was available - so we were disappointed that we didn't have a water/sea view from our accommodation. I wish to add that I don't believe this is a reflection of the Gateway - but an issue not having access to a conversation with a person who knows the area well - at the time of booking.
