I stayed here for almost three weeks in late 2023 and it was perfect for my needs. This is a very well-run motel. The hosts are professional, friendly, and very responsive to any requests. They obviously care about guest satisfaction and comfort. The room was very clean and quiet. There is a well-equipped kitchenette and a good-sized TV with many channels. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well the entire visit. The location is excellent because it is directly across the road from the Esplanade which is a fantastic urban park with natural bush, formal gardens and lots of walking paths and track, and also (for families) a large playground and wading pool for kids. There's a bus stop right at the gate and it's only a few minutes ride to The Square and the Plaza shopping center. I'm very happy to have chosen Harringtons for my stay and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Very clean and tidy. Cosy. Crisp clean sheets and warm fluffy towels in the bathroom. We got a lovely warm welcome when we arrived and really enjoyed our stay. When we left the cleaning staff were the friendliest and happiest cleaners we have ever struck. They were chatty, polite and happy in their work and it was really nice to see and to hear happy chatter. A good selection of tea bags too which pleased me. Thank You so much for such a pleasant stay, we will be back.

it was clean, easy to find and close to city centre

This motel exceeded our expectations. The price was very fair - for a very high standard facility. We loved the very fresh and new bedding & linen. The room and facilities were spotless. The room was spacious including a lounge chair to relax in. Convenient parking was right outside the room - with plenty of space to manoeuver our large vehicle. The location was easy to find - and being opposite the cities beautiful park meant we could walk to enjoy the gardens and facilities there. Rooms set back off the road - so were nice and quiet for a good nights sleep. Will definitely stay here again - and will recommend to family and friends.

Standard studio motel unit that worked well for our one night stay. Spacious room with a king size bed and small kitchen area for cooking, plus ensuite bathroom. We were in the access unit that had wheelchair accessible bathroom facilities. The motel units are back off the main road so traffic noise was minimal. Directly across the road from the park and a lovely walking path along the river. We would stay here again.

This is just a personal opinion but, as at many motels/hotels in New Zealand, I find the beds very soft. Always gives me a sore back and you have to put up with the dreaded partner roll together. Again, the bed in this motel, at this price point, was about the usual New Zealand standard and this is just a personal annoyance.

The cooked breakfast was ok , but I felt it was heated in the microwave a little too long. The duvet on my bed was ripped , throw away and replace not a good look. Need more than 4 teabags in the room as the cups are very little so you’re making more cups of tea. Perhaps larger mugs might help.

The operators were very friendly and so were the cleaning team. Shower pressure was great as I live rural and pressure not good. Lovely clean room with lots of space.

The room was very spacious, clean, tidy and very functional. Bathroom very good, shower area very clean. Dedicated parking outside door was a bonus. Room was very quiet, bed comfortable and black out drapes worked exceedingly well. Excellent reception. Did have a bulb in the kitchen area which wasn't working and proprietor replaced this within 2 minutes. Exception service overall!

No negative aspects

A small motel along a street with many other motels and accommodation. Convenient location for leaving city in the morning. The Victoria Esplanade is across the road for a nice morning walk. This motel is a rare find as it's affordable for a 1 bedroom apartment with small kitchen (with 2 cooker stove). Staff were fantastic, polite, and hardworking.

Loud traffic along main road.
