I was in Palmerston North for about 5 weeks, from late May until late June. I was traveling for work at Massey University, where I served as a temporary faculty for the summer, and I could not have had better accommodations. The Esplanade motel exceeded my expectations in every possible manner. The owners are absolutely lovely people, and made me feel at home for the entirety of my stay. I don't particularly enjoy traveling for as long as I did (5-6 weeks), but I could not have been made more comfortable during my time in PN. I was provided with fantastic venison burgers & ceviche by the owners, and they were extremely flexible with charging during my time, especially considering I was at their property for over a month. I will be back in PN later this year, and I already know 100% where I'll be staying- I wouldn't consider staying at any other property after my experience, which was again, absolutely top notch. I can't wait to get back and see the owners again- I highly recommend anyone traveling to PN, especially those who will be working at Massey (barely a mile to the campus), to stay at the Esplanade.

The only downside to my stay was that I was 16 hours ahead of the US, so the NBA finals were on at inopportune times. I had no bad experiences directly related with my stay at the Esplanade- the staff were lovely, the room was clean and I was provided with fresh linens multiple times a week. I can't complain about any part of my stay at the Esplanade, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for accommodations in Palmerston North.

Location not far from city centre, nice staff.

The spa bath's own power button on the bath tub doesn't work. There is a power switch on the wall where the bathroom light switch is with "spa" printed on down the bottom , but first I didn't notice and thought it's not working. One of my family member missed the spa bath which he would like to enjoy. Also it's not so convienent to turn it off when you have to come out and walk to bathroom door to do it. It would be better if there is a big sign by the bathtub to remind traveller where the real switch is.

It was much bigger and useable than we had predicted. Perfect when we had some friends visit for an hour or so. The bedroom was separate to the kitchen area etc. The hosts were also lovely and let us check in an hour early which helped with getting ready for a wedding that afternoon.

Although the pressure was good the shower area etc was quite old. But the bath is a great idea for those that want a getaway spa bath.

The accommodation was roomy, clean and comfortable. One of our young local grandchildren came to stay with us too. Situated across from the Esplanade playground and bike park, it was also handy to the river walking/cycling paths. The hosts were warm and welcoming, my apologies for not remembering your names but my partner was delighted to be taken on a quick local tour of local sites on Sunday morning to photograph native birds. We also received a phone call soon after we left to let us know we had left something behind :-)

We thoroughly enjoyed this accommodation and have no negatives to say.

Very comfortable beds had an awesome rest spa bath was bliss after long travels, room was clean and had everything we needed Owner was excellent and had put heaters on for us so was nice and toasty when we got in which was a bit later than we thought

The hotel sign bulb was out so found it a bit hard to find in the dark got there in the end tho as GPS was no help

The staff were amazing. Rooms are very large and spacious. Bed is very comfortable. But I can't say enough of the service and hospitality received here - above and beyond. I was here for a week for work and the staff made it feel like a second home.

You'll never find a more uncomfortable couch. Not a big deal to me and this is the only negative I have of my entire stay.

Staff were very helpful and considerate of a solo traveling mama who also recommended a beautiful place for dinner the was very child friendly and amazing kai and not in the city centre The esplanade park directly across the road Spa bath was lovely and clean Plenty of towels and kitchen utensils

Wifi kept dropping in and out when we were in the bedroom of the apartment suite

Very comfortable, clean and friendly. Had everything one would need to be self sufficient. Great parking, easy access to room. Bed comfortable with fabulous reading light above the bed. Perfect.

Was missing a chair as couch was very low. I could have asked for one, but wasn't spending a great deal of time. May be something for people with disabilities.

Spa bath was amazing! Shower pressure wasn't so great but it was ok. Beds were ok, room was very clean and tidy.

Was a little confused about having a sofa bed in the living room/kitchen area that could not be used or there would be a $500 charge, seems a bit extreme. Why have the sofa bed in there in the first place? Why not just have an ordinary couch?

Concerned re shower over Spabath with no non-slip mat as with soap made it slippery. The shower forcep was very loose and came off whilst turning water temp down. Informed Manager to get it fixed. Otherwise a pleasant stay.
