The property is stunning. It's lush green rain forest paths to the cabins and dorms behind the resto reception area on the beach. The path from the boat dock is also beautiful. We saw sloths always near reception. I advise backpackers to stay in the 8 bed cabin. The beds are AMAZING! Duvet cover, 2 pillows, blackout curtain, light-fan-plug-window overlooking the rainforest. Huge lockers (with plugs) and hot clean showers. We even had a little orange frog in the bathroom 1 night! My friend stayed in the 10 bed and it had no windows and not as clean as ours apparently. Loved Pollo Beach 45min walk away !! Turquoise calmer water to swim in. We saw many red frogs trying to find wizard Beach (failed).

I was a bit disappointed that the instagram activities posted did not always happen/nor advertised/encouraged to attend. They would make a much better vibe if they had an entertainment person or volunteer to provide/promote activities in the evening since there isn't much to do after the sun goes down. They have backpackers after all. People would probably buy more drinks at the bar if they did !!

Room: the 8-bed dorm is really beautiful - especially the bathroom with its big window facing the jungle! It has small shelves, AC and private fans, curtains, big lockers so the room stays super tidy ... We really enjoyed our stay here! Restaurant: mostly good meals, veggie options :) Hotel: very nice location - a beautiful place!

Restaurant: way overpriced! And there are not really many alternative options to eat near by. Staff is often unmotivated and from time to time even unfriendly. Portions are not sufficient (only burger, burrito and pancakes had a good size; the size of e.g. the smoothie bowl was rather ridiculous). If you'd like to get a bit more rice (in order to not still be hungry after eating) you have to pay 3 $ on top... All in all just too expensive for what you get.

Our stay at Palmar Beach was an absolute delight from start to finish. Nestled amidst nature, the cozy wooden bungalow provided a serene retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the warm and friendly staff, but what truly stood out was the heartfelt surprise awaiting us in our room. The crew had gone above and beyond by adorning our space with beautifully crafted balloon hearts, adding an extra touch of magic to our stay. It was an unexpected and heartwarming gesture for our honeymoon that immediately made us feel special and appreciated. The tranquility of the surroundings, coupled with the personalized touch from the thoughtful crew, made our stay truly memorable. Whether it was relaxing on the porch or taking leisurely walks in the nearby trails, every moment felt like a cherished escape.

The dinner menu could be a little more varied, but this is really complaining at a high level.

We wanted to be away from the noise and secluded next to a beach and we got what we asked for! The rooms were very comfortable. The AC allowed us to sleep in the hour jungle at night. There were very minimal mosquitoes and bugs. The food was delicious. The massages were very affordable and very relaxing. Easy to coordinate activities if you wanted to with the front desk staff.

Had to pay for yoga even though it says it is free on their website. The wait staff were slow at times and not necessarily friendly, but you are on island time so no worries. Was a little more expensive than we anticipated. There was construction going on when we stayed so a little noisy when they were working between 930-5pmish

The room is really nice, clean and specially the bathroom is so nice and big! The staffs are all very friendly, the breakfast is Okay, the view and long chairs at the beach are really nice, perfect for reading and relaxing. One disadvantage of this hotel is the beach (of course not their fault :) ) that this beach is rather for surfing and not for swimming, with huge waves and the water is not that clean. But with 30 minutes walk you can reach Polo beach where you have perfect water and very quiet. You can even talk to Mr. Polo :)

The location of the beach is not really nice for swimmer. The hotel room misses a place for washing feet after walking from the beach with sand, and misses also a place to dry the wet clothes. Other than these, all really perfect! :) Thanks

the location is amazing, chill and relaxing food at the restaurant was good we really like the vibe

there was noise in the room above us , could here everything and the 5% charge for paying with credit card looks for us a bit too much (especially when other hotels in Panama didn’t charged us extra for paying with credit card.

The staff were very friendly, there was a very nice and informative welcome at the reception desk. I was feeling very much welcome. Excellent service provision, many thanks to all Palmar team members!

Just a small hint concerning tours (including walk to polo beach): please provide more information, maybe a blackboard at the reception, where people can write their names and other people can see, how many people are there, how many are still missing for certain trips (e.g. bat cave). But this is really already a very high service level, so thank you very much again.

Loved the room, spacious with a huge comfy bed and lovely bathroom. Loved the TV with Netflix (our saving grace in the bad weather!) Great to have a fridge. Beach is beautiful. Restaurant is excellent for food. We organised a boat trip through reception and it was great. Reception also helped organise taxi boats.

The hotel really lacked a swimming pool. We had torrential rain for 48 hours during our stay so perhaps we noticed it more but there was nothing to do in the rain, if there was a pool it may have kept us entertained for longer!

Lodge is nicely located at the intersection beach / jungle, staff was very friendly, the bungalow was clean and shielded from insects. There was a nice vibe with the place and the people. I really enjoyed staying here and I would come again.

5% credit card fee on top of everything if you don’t pay cash. The lodge communicates this right after booking, but I still consider it unacceptable in 2022 given the high price for place. do they want me to bring hundreds of dollars of cash to the island? every hotel here faces cost of cash or cost of credit card payments, that is nothing special. On top, Costa Rican cost for cc-payments are not 5%, so it’s basically an additional source of income. I don’t agree with this.

Where to begin? I'm reticent to tell the whole truth here because I want to keep this secret spot to myself. Palmar Lodge is such a gem and I will 100% return. It seems to me that every detail is inspired and I found myself admiring the the craftsmanship and low-key stylish details around every corner. The staff is incredible and the food is amazing. We had a room with A/C which is a must for me and worth the extra price if you are not used to humidity. The beach is breathtaking. The sunsets are picturesque. The evenings are quiet. The location gives you the totally disconnected out-of-the way vibe without being uncomfortable. You can go days here without ever putting your shoes on, but eat and drink like a king and meet other cool people. Lots of excursion option, but we mostly just chilled out and didn't feel any pull to leave the beach there. It was also nice having a lifeguard on the beach as some riptides were serious.

The hike in was cool but difficult with luggage that isn't a backpack. You have to ask for help via an employee pushing a wheel barrow. It's fine but kinda weird too. I wish there were more Panamanian food options on the menu. I would also like to see more shade structures and lounge chairs on the beach.
