Wow, it was an amazing experience! The hostel is situated in an old restored mansion, close to the center of Faro. Everything is very stylish and atmospheric. Nice room, comfortable bed with a private curtain and lighting, good shower, well-equipped kitchen, a lot of common spaces including roof-top terrace. The staff was helpful and welcoming. I would definitely come here again!

Nothing :)

Really cool stylish spacious hostel with great facilities - kitchen, roof terrace, lower terrace, large lounge with weekend pop up bar and piano, 24 hour reception with super helpful staff. Room at night was properly dark and bunk was comfy, I slept so well. Location is brilliant, close to train and bus stations, airport, beaches, city centre etc. Great mix of folk staying. I was here 8 days, loved it. V quiet in Feb which suited me well. Very clean esp kitchen after bathrooms.

The rain! Just kidding, even the rain was beautiful

This is such a lovely renovated hostel. With a lovely owner and amiable staff. It’s set up in an old building with beautiful high ceilings. In the patio there is an inscription with three dates, the year it was built, the year it became a refugee for girls and the year it changed into a hostel. It feels like a very safe place. Lovely sunny 1 floor levelled rooftop terrace. Well equipped kitchen with coffee & tea during the morning. And a very big place to eat, work or hang out. (big enough to not disturb each other when someone has to make a call, as it did rain sometimes)

There’s nothing really that I didn’t like. For backproblem people: the dorm mattresses are between good for Portugal standards. Kitchen closes at night but the common room is always open, so if you need snacks in between it’s better to keep it with you.

I have only one complain concerning the management of Tilia ,,and what happened was that I did an overbooking accidentally, I booked 2 persons for 2 nights instead of booking1 person. When I claimed for a refund at the reception, the manager said that there was NO refund and that I believe was unfair for me as a customer, I had to pay double although I requested to remain in the hostel for 3 more days, my request was not accepted. Therefore I have to say that I was not happy at all because I paid money for nothing! And as a result this is not a nice policy of the management and you might loose customers in the future due to this bad policy. I will consider seriously if I come back to this hotel again. although my stay was lovely,,,Thanks very much and all the best.,,

Friendly staff, 24 hour reception, purpose built beds, and great location very near to the bones cathedral and plenty of restaurants and bars - but not too close that it's noisy! Free earplugs too.

If you're unlucky like me to get a top bunk in a 3 tier bunk bed, the top gets uncomfortably HOT! Construction going on outside so mornings will be noisy for a bit. Bathrooms could have been a little cleaner in my short experience there... Staff are really nice to give you a tour when you arrive but I was put off by them speaking at full volume in the room when I arrived past midnight. Would hope they'd really respect quiet hours!

I've had a great experience staying at Tilia: the location is amazing and the hostel building itself is sightseeing-worthy. The personnel is friendly and respectful and the rooms are quite convenient! Free coffee can be fetched in the morning, and there is a pop-up bar organized every now and then. The reception operates 24/7. There is a convenient kitchen and a cozy living room. I couldn't help but feel the sense of belonging to young travelers' community. Tilia Hostel seems like a perfect place for backpackers and groups of friends, and you get a lot of comfort for a fair price.

The only problem I had was noise coming from other travelers during the night, sometimes at 1 am, sometimes even at 3 am. They were extremely loud for the reason unknown to me, but I guess it's a drawback you have to deal with when you're staying at a hostel.

The hostel is central and the main streets in Faro are in less than 10 minutes reachable. The bed are quite big and comfortable. The showers and bathroom are nice. They give enough privacy. I saw the staff a couple times a day in the bathrooms checking and cleaning the bathroom.

There was not enough space for everyone to put their luggage under the bed or out of the way. So the rooms were a little „ messy“ then. The lockers are a little small. A whole suitcase does not fit in it.

Pop up bar and the get togethers in the kitchen

The tiny courtyard next to the kitchen is super cozy and the rooftop is a treat.

It's located right near the water and restaurants of Faro. The hostel has a great upstairs terrace and lots of space to sit, work, drink coffee, etc. The staff are really friendly and accommodating if you have a flight/bus/train at a weird time. Lots of events and activities to get people chatting (pop-up bar, pub crawl, big picnic tables outside), which is always nice for solo travelers! Free coffee and tea in the mornings also.

The beds are not too comfortable and the mixed dorm was quite loud all night, but that is just part of the deal with hostels and I wouldn't let it deter you!

- Nice building, with a big terrace on the roof - several toilets and showers - water was hot - beds are comfortable

- They do have triple bunk beds, which are super high. I booked a 6-bed female dorm and I got one bed on the top. I could not have slept there because I‘m afraid of heights, and luckily I could change the bed and also room, because the room was little. - However I got a bed in a 12-bed female dorm, instead, for the same price, because this dorm had it‘s own bathroom - but it wasn’t possible to close the door of the bathroom, so the whole room heard/smelled when someone took a shower/went to toilet - it‘s loud, especially on weekends
