All facilities were excellent, room cleaned and tidied everyday, plenty of stuff in the room with amazing view. Really helpful staff at front desk, really welcoming. Facilities and gym all up to scratch, couldn’t ask for anymore. Amazing value for money.

Great location, staff were supremely helpful, comfortable hotel with a very good range of food & drink for breakfast, plenty of space in the dining area (allowing for a fairly relaxed experience each morning), excellent views from the 11th floor bar/terrace.

Not a criticism, but something to be aware of... The 'Ocean View suites' in the Nirth tower DO have an ocean view, but the best view, uninterrupted by other balconies and the building itself, are to be had from the smallest rooms that face the ocean directly. It seems that this is a function of how the original hotel was built before Barceló took it over. Bizarre that the best view (and balcony size/shape) is from the smallest rooms, but if you're looking for a view over extra comfort inside (the rooms are well appointed anyway), best to be aware of this.

Everything from the beginning of my stay till the end was amazing. I've got a lot of flyers during the check-in with trip options and other touristy things, reception then did the reservation on my behalf. Options at breakfast were perfectly okay with good variety. Bed was very comfortable, hotel also provided different kind of pillows in case the ones already in room doesn't fit. Location was also great, 15 minutes by bus to Funchal centre, with bus stop directly above the hotel. Plenty of restaurant options around and also swimming pool facility with access to ocean just 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Bar on the rooftop provided great selection of cocktails and some snacks with the amazing ocean view from 11th floor. Room in which I stayed might be a bit small for two people, especially because there was no closet to put the clothes away (just a rack with some hangers above the table), but since I was alone it wasn't an issue for me. I had amazing ocean view from balcony. Staff did everything and above to make my stay as pleasant as possible. They arranged the reservation for trip for me, provided recommendations on where to eat, called me a taxi to airport when I was leaving - always with a smile on their face. I have nothing to complain about, next time I am in Madeira I will definitely stay there again.

It was a bit noisy outside during the night. It wasn't an issue with balcony closed, but the traffic noise and live music from restaurant across the road made it very hard to sleep with balcony open.

First of all, the hotel is great! The staff are very friendly and does everything in their might to help us. The view from our room was amazing! We had a view over the ocean and the town of Funchal, so we could relax on the balcony with a great view. We had breakfast and dinner included with our room and the food is delicious! The options vary every day, which is really nice! I could keep going with what is nice about this hotel. The staff is very engaging and did a lot of things to make our stay extra special. THANK YOU! This has been the best hotel experience I've ever had!

great location. Nearby there is a bus stop to the city center and the airport. There is a small supermarket and a coffee bar 50 meters away. Within a radius of 500 meters there are a huge number of cafes and restaurants with good food. Despite the fact that the hotel is not located on the first line, the view from the window of the ocean is incredibly beautiful. The room has everything you need. Even a kettle with a daily replenished assortment of tea and coffee. I was pleasantly surprised by the selection of TV channels. In addition to a large amount of news and music, there was even a Mezzo channel with classical music, for which special thanks. Delicious breakfast with prosecco, fresh fruit, smoothies, quality coffee. Upon request, scrambled eggs or an omelet are fried for you personally. Cleaning is daily and high quality. The reception staff is very friendly and helpful. Any request: to book a restaurant or find out information about an event in the city was fulfilled strictly. There was enough space for everyone in the pool. The area is small but compact.

Despite the fact that the hotel is four stars, there is no assistance for guests with their belongings. I was also a little surprised by the open storage area in the room, but then I got used to it😊

Clean comfortable rooms with very good mattresses, a good shower and nice views from the balcony. Superb breakfast and excellent location with lots of very good bars and restaurants. I walked into Funchal from the hotel too. There are newer, smarter hotels all around but probably more expensive?

No wardrobe, just hangers over a desk. Very little storage space. You have to pay €5 a day for parking.

My room was spacious, modern, clean and highly functional. There is a large desk and a large clothes rail. I booked the sea view room and never tired of the view. Beds are very comfortable. Even the desk chair was super comfy. I am especially appreciative of the spotless bathroom (and the straightforward shower that didn't feel like an IQ test). Covid measures are excellent - hand sanitisers are prominently placed and staff are immaculately masked. There are also gloves recommended for use at the breakfast buffet. Reception staff are incredibly friendly, they let me check in 2 hours early and held my luggage for me after checkout. They're a helpful resource if you have questions about Madeira. The assistant manager, Pedro, is very attentive with a sunny personality. The housekeeper, Fabiana, is fastidious and lovely - she even folded my pyjamas to look like a dress! The breakfast is great and as a vegan I did have sufficient options (toast, cereal, grilled veg/potatoes/mushrooms, baked beans, plenty of fruit, soy milk, almond milk) and although I’d love more options (not their fault, I informed them just one day before coming) like soupa de legumes, scrambled tofu and nut butters, I had the best soy milk of my life here! It tasted creamy like kefir. Location is fantastic. There are plenty of restaurants (including a vegan restaurant) and supermarkets nearby. When you walk up the road, there is a taxi stand on the left and a bus stop on the right. The buses take you to central Funchal or you can even walk it - it's a pleasant half hour walk but please wear proper walking shoes - Madeira is super hilly. I didn't go to the rooftop bar or use the sauna/pool/gym (I'm useless, I know!) so I can't comment on those but I was very happy with the hotel on the whole and as a solo female traveller. In the areas that matter - cleanliness, comfort, food, safety and customer service, it's on par with 5-star hotels.

Nothing much really. The hot food served at breakfast is very British. Not surprising given the guest demographics. (But there's lots of tropical fruit, different types of bread and pastry etc. so on the overall, the breakfast spread was still great.) Towel policy could be made clearer - I didn't leave my towel on the floor but it was still changed. So I left a message not to change my towels and they didn't :)

The room was clean spacious and comfortable with a beautifully view of the sea from my room Staff were very friendly and helpful location is just outside the town but all tours I booked picked me up from the hotel so it was ideal for me There was plenty of options for brekkie as I’m vegan they even had soya and almond milk which is rare Never had dinner there so can’t comment on that but plenty of vegan places nearby The pool is fab and a lovely area to sit out and sunbathe all day Overall as a solo traveller I felt very welcomed then even brought me complimentary cake to my room for my birthday such a thoughtful touch

Allegro Madeira surpassed my expectations in every aspect, and every department and staff member did an outstanding job. The human element is what makes an organization good or not so good, and I can confidently and honestly say that this establishment has met all the criteria with excellence.
