Excelent old lady - owner. breakfast were simple but very nice- especially the homemade coffe:) very nice location walking distance to old town, bit harder to come by car - due to narrow streets but we managed, on side its private parking - you get the key to gate. very cheap price day parking and breakfast only 3-4euros/day.

there were old water pipes and sometimes due to changing pressure - you could hear noise also during night. also in the morning was weak pressure since we were in top floor, but this we knew in advance. we were in attic room and the ceiling window brought lots of light during sunrise - no curtains. We used eye blinds. We stayied in end of april and it was already hot enough for us to stay in room without aircon. Sleeping with open window only. Bear in mined its old building with nice atmosphere tho. middle floor or 1st floor would be more cold.

Decor was a little dated but perfectly fine. Pillow was very flat however

It is an amazing value for money. The location is very central and in a quiet area (you can hear the birds singing when you open the windows). Don’t expect luxury, the rooms are simple but comfortable and clean. The owner is really nice and would go the extra mile to help when she can. I was out all day for activities so this hotel was the perfect choice, pretty cheap and calm to be able to rest at night. 100% recommend ! thank you very much

The location is amazing, very close to the center, which was the most important to me. The room was simple but very clean. There’s a mall with a big supermarket and bakery less than 5 mins away, the airport bus also stops there.

Facilities were good, the only thing that might be missing in the summer is air conditioning. Also toiletries and a hair dryer could be a nice addition.

Great location easy to get in and out of with parking on site. Quiet street to be able to rest after long days of hiking. Nice terrace to relax with a book.

The beds weren't very comfortable and the bedframes made quite a bit of noise, so getting a full night of sleep wasn't easy.

A wonderful hotel at a quiet part of the city, 10-20 minutes away by foot from most museums, restaurants and other attractions in Funchal. The area is very quiet and the rooms offer all that is necessary for a very basic stay. The price is also great compared to nearby accommodations. Room was cleaned and towels were changed daily.

The hotel is situated on an uphill stone paved road. There is also no elevator, so if you are carrying heavy luggage, or have mobility issues, it can be very tiring. Also, bed was pretty old and uncomfortable, and there was some smell from the bathroom pipes.

A lovely little gem of a hotel near the Old Town of Funchal. Rooms are basic but immaculately clean & with en suites or private bathroom We had a lovely welcome & were given extra fans as it was very hot when we were there. It was in a very quiet street & felt very safe. It was amazing value for money given its excellent location

Nothing - all was as described. We were a little alarmed by some of the reviews before we travelled but it was great. Some travellers must have totally unrealistic expectations I think! This is a basic but very traditional hotel & was fantastic value for money. If you want 5 star luxury - choose one of the big chain hotels!! We loved its rustic charm

Great location, very clean rooms and cleaning everyday.

Hard to communicate via email, send several requests with no reply but was all good when asked in person. I think the lunch or breakfast option is available but was never proposed to buy it, but as there is plenty of restaurants nearby it was good to try different ones. And most interesting part you have bathroom but with only shower option tho you have bath itself but it is boiler in the room. And the beds a bit noisy). The last, I would recommend to add something from mosquito to the room because we had to buy it for those days and they are quite hungry). But overall as I said it was a nice experience.

Hotel itself, good size room, balcony, and plenty of storage space for clothes, etc. Good layout. Lovely garden/courtyard area for breakfast. Lending library. Friendly, pleasant, and helpful host. Great location, restaurants and shops a few minutes walk away. Hotel is very clean. An enjoyable place to stay in Funchal, the excellent concerts next door in English Church are clearly audible.

Squeaky bed. Poor lighting in room. No nets on window, couldn't open heavy curtains, for privacy reasons. No toiletries provided, except two little bars of soap. (Most hotels provide a gel dispenser, at sink and shower, bare minimum.)

The location is pretty good, the two streets crossing right below the hotel are full of restaurants and there's a shopping mall with a supermarket. Everything you need on a trip can be easily found in the surrounding area. If you don't mind to walk for 15 min you can easily reach touristic points such as Sé Cathedral, cablecar to get to the Toboggans Sledges or gardens, CR7 museum, Mercado dos Lavradores, Rua Santa Maria. And it close to the checkpoint to GetYourGuide tours(a must to do).

The bed in the hotel room is quite creaky and noisy, making it challenging to get in or out of bed without disturbing your partner, especially when preparing to sleep or getting up in the morning.
