It's our second stay here in two years and we just love it. The staff is very welcoming and friendly and they went out of their way to accommodate our needs (like providing softer pillows). There is 24h reception service; coffee, tea and biscuits are complimentary. The place is very clean and quiet, rooms and beds are comfortable. There are 3 bathrooms for 7 rooms per floor and they are cleaned very often. We never had any troubles finding one available. The guest house is very well situated, at 2 min walk from Saldanha metro station. There are very good restaurants and cafes very close by. We will certainly come back again here. The value for money is outstanding.

- the location just right in front of saldanha metro station; also lots of buses to go to many places in Lisbon (eg, Belém, Praça do comércio) - 24h reception desk; the lady who welcomed us was so kind and nice. such a warm welcome that we got! - a “living room”, a kitchen with a fridge, stove, microwave in our floor. - free flows of tea and coffee, and butter cookies - clean and comfortable room! a plus during winter: the room was also warm.

there’s not elevator, which was not a problem for us. but perhaps, other people could take this into consideration when choosing a property.

This was really an outstanding place for the rate of the room. Extremely clean, lots of rooms to go to for breakfast, reading etc and the staff were exceptional. It's a little far from downtown (about 40 min walk) but well connected by transport. And if shopping is your thing, you have all the same shops around the corner.

It's noisy. I had a room by the road and could hear the garbage trucks, etc. Similarly, you could hear doors opening and closing. But, honestly, for the price and the size of the room, the cleanliness and the helpfulness of the staff, if you can live with that and don't need to be 'down town' it's such a fab little place (not so little really). Also expect a shared bathroom - access was never a problem, but a room by the bathrooms could be noisy?

EVERYTHING! Chalet de Avila serves as my home away from home. I first stayed there during the summer of 2019, and have visited many times since. Most recently, I stayed at Chalet de Avila several week there this summer, so I really got to see, up close and personal, the daily workings of this amazing place which runs smoothly because the of the amazing staff. HECTOR is the absolute BEST as are Lucas, Romulo, and all the others, including the housekeepers who maintain a spotless space. If I could rate this place as a 10+ or 100+ I would. From the moment guests check in, they are greeted with warmth. Samba and Bossa Nova covers always play in the breakfast area to put people in the Portuguese mood to seize the day. I have traveled extensively around Portugal, and the vibe here is the best! The metro station is right across the street but so many famous spots are walkable from the Guest House. And the Saldanha area has most everything you need. A Pingo Doce grocery is only a few doors away, and high-end shopping at the famous El Corte Ingles is nearby as well. With amazing restaurants such as Versailles, The Green Affair, etc. nearby, and a well-equipped kitchen at the house, a guest will never be hungry.

What I did not like were the times over the summer that I had to check out to travel elsewhere. Saying goodbye to Chalet de Avila is never easy, but I will be back and know I will be greeted with open arms. See y'all later! Obrigada!

Staff was super friendly, helpful and easy going defintiely they are giving especially good vibes accomodation thats already fantastic! Functionality of the rooms was super, everything was smelling and was super clean and beds were very comfortable and cozy. Not only breakfast was one of the best parts but also coffee and fruits were available all day long. Location was perfect, we were using Uber and Bolt since it was cheaper and faster than using public transport in our case (we were group of three people). All in all if you have doubts about where to stay while in Lisbon dont think about it twice!!

I liked the brightness and cleanliness of the rooms, big enough to have your luggage on the floor and with just enough furniture for the stay. There were enough bathrooms with the 2.5 present on the floor and they were again spacious enough. Breakfast was of a good variety and great quality, particularly from this type of accommodation.

Noise was, the vast majority of people were quiet but the noise from locks and the flooring in the corridor / through the different floors caused a bit of disruption in our sleep. It is particularly pronounced from the corridors as there's a wide gap beneath the doors that let the sound travel.

The room was very clean and the building was gorgeous. The room's design was functional and included everything important you need for a short stay. There were two bathrooms which was a big bonus and the breakfast was pleasant too.

The room did not have a small bin and considering that it was the furthest in the apartment, it was a bit annoying to have to go to the kitchen on every occasion. Another thing I would like to mention was that the rooms in the apartment are a bit noisy so I would not recommend the place to anyone travelling for work or I would offer earplugs as this would be quite helpful for such light sleepers as myself.

I loved the convenience to the Saldanha metro stop--literally right outside the door. In spite of this, and being on the corner of some busier streets, I found it to be a really quiet location. I was on a high first floor (or ground floor for anyone not from the US). I was able to both sleep in and go to bed early without street noise bothering me. My room was huge and exceptionally clean, with a large comfy bed and an adjoining sunroom/porch which was lovely to hang out in when it wasn't too hot--and it was hot when I was there--but found by using the old techniques of using shutters during the day and opening windows at night, I was more than comfortable, especially with the fan provided. The kitchen, lounge, and bathroom facilities were all kept spotlessly clean. There are also a lot of shops/restaurants in the immediate area, and it felt way more local and less touristy than other areas of the city I have stayed in closer to the river. It's so easy to get to those areas by train or foot if that's your jam, but I'd prefer staying here with the great combo of quiet and convenience.

The only thing that would have made it better was if there were shampoo and conditioner in the showers as well as body wash.

The guest house itself is nice. Very cozy and authentic. The location is very central and easy to get to by public transportation. Staff was friendly and accommodating (although I did ask for a wake up call/knock that never happened). Good value for money.

The room was very hot. I used the fan in the room but it only helped a little. You can hear everything that goes around in the hallway so it was a bit uncomfortable to go get a shower very early in the morning as I'm sure I woke people up. I myself woke up every time someone went to use the bathroom or even turned the key in their door.. I suggest bringing earplugs for a good night's sleep.

Always a pleasure to stay here - I keep returning. It is clean, comfortable and well maintained. The rooms are a nice size, the breakfast is pretty decent (though could use more variety of fruit and more options for people who don't eat meat + dairy), has laundry facilities, living room areas on each floor and the beds are quite comfortable. For me it's always a pleasure to stay here.

I think the bathrooms could use a bit more attention during peak usage times (mornings and before bed) but overall, I am always happy with my stay here and feel it's very comfortable.
