The room was large and beautifully decorated. The king bed was quite comfortable, and the thermostat could be adjusted to your comfort. The bathroom had plenty of space. The towels were large and absorbent. The showerhead was very nice and a handheld was also available. Shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner were also available. Hand soap and lotion were available at the sink. The Triplett’s Bar was a favored hangout and provided food and drink. Of course, apples and water were available in the lobby. There was more than ample space in the lobby area leading to the main desk for meeting friends and relaxing. The elevators were never a problem. The close proximity to Rec Hall was a bonus, and the location in regards to downtown was only a short walk away.

Location is great as we were visiting my daughter that attends PSU.
Our coffee/tea machine did not work. My daughter went to the front desk and requested a new one. Then they left to get me tea. The staff person showed up but did not speak any English. Communication was difficult but she understood the machine did not work. She said she would be back but never returned. I was very sick and the walk to the front desk was quite a ways so I called the desk several times but no one ever picked up. We used the phone in the room to contact the front desk. Nothing was ever done and we never could reach the front desk. My daughters even tried while they were out from their cell phones with no success.

The whole hotel was beautiful and to come at Christmas time was such a treat! You are greeted in the lobby to a lit fireplace and the ambiance of warm wood and soft blues and whites letting you know exactly where you are. From the adorable lion door knockers to the best smelling and cleanest rooms, our stay was comfortable and homey. The hotel staff and our bartender at 1855...just wonderful. Highly recommend if in State College. We parked in the garage over using the vale service and it was 100% complimentary (one time). Couldn't have asked for a better experience!
Due it being a low volume weekend, the brunch at the Lionne wasn't available and there is no other complimentary breakfast option which for the price would have been nice. I wish the beds were a little softer in my opinion. It was a very firm mattress.

Everything was lovely and decorated beautifully. So many cozy spots to relax outside of our room. Triplett’s was delicious and a great place to have a cocktail and snack. The staff were welcoming and extremely accommodating. The location of the hotel was perfect and having the parking garage next door was super convenient. I loved the filtered water bottle stations in the hallway too. We had an issue with our toilet not flushing and maintenance fixed it within 10 mins. I can’t wait to book our next visit.
The room entrance could use a brighter lightbulb. I love the dark paint but when the bathroom door is shut, you can barely see the clothes in the closet. For the price we paid, I thought the room might have slippers, robes, and a safe. A shower cap would have also been nice. I found a small vanity kit in the bathroom but no shower cap. Those are all superficial issues. The only real issue I had was the bright white flashing of the smoke detector. It flashes a tiny green light when the lights are on but as soon as you turn the lights off, a bright white light flashes. I literally had to sleep facing the opposite way with a pillow over my face. I’ll be sure to bring an eye mask the next time we visit. Everything else was absolutely excellent.

It has recently reopened after being closed for a few years. $15 million was invested so the exterior and interior looks great. I stayed there a few months ago and had some issues with the TV and the A/C but they “comped” us for the whole 2 day stay. The elevator was behaving erratically so I think the infrastructure still has a few issues but overall it’s a beautiful hotel. Prices have spike from around $180/night normally to $1200/night on PSU football weekends.
As I mentioned above, they are still having some infrastructure issues since the hotel had a major redesign recently.

Main dining facilities are closed on Monday, so we ate at the Dear Joe cafe, which was good coffee and muffins. On our second morning we had a spectacular breakfast at Lionne. Room was clean and comfortable, all new furnishings throughout the entire facility. Shower was great, with both an overhead nozzle and a removable shower wand, a rarity in hotels these days. Very Penn State decor, inspiring.
Valet parking is $20/day. A garage is conveniently located beside the hotel if self-parking is desired, but is nearly $20/day. A parking voucher should be issued to hotel guests for half price parking, or something for stays longer than one night.

The service was excellent. The workout room was extremely well appointed for a hotel. The overall facility was great and we enjoyed the many comfortable seating areas. The cafe and restaurant were very nice with great service.
Small things that still need to be worked out, mostly having to do with processes and people - flickering room entry light that never got fixed, no hand soap in the bathroom initially, hotel signage was confusing and bar staff was inattentive with some possessing a decided attitude (other people we met while visiting had heard the same thing).

When we arrived at the Hotel, we requested a first floor/ near elevators room, which apparently wasn't on our reservation request. The Hotel graciously accommodated us, Thank you! The room was lovely, beyond our expectations with a 0 threshold shower, and with generous space for a wheelchair (which we don't need, but was nice) Valet parking was available and was not expensive compared to the cost of self parking. The hotel had just been renovated and was open for less than a month when we were there. The in house restaurant (The Leonine) was outstanding, White Linen tablecloth place, with really nicely done food. (Lobster Bisque was exquisite, and worth the price). Great Lobby space, too. The stay was worth every nickel.
I can't think of anything to fault. And I'm not super easy to please. It's probably too expensive on football weekends, and may get crowded, but during the week? OMG. You won't regret going if your stay was like ours.

I am a loyal Marriott customer for years, but since they changed their policy on cancellations, I chose to stay at the Nittany Lion to visit my daughter. It's a beautiful facility, located in the center of Penn State, and so convenient. The rooms are beautiful, and we had a very nice dinner there as well, never having to leave the hotel.
Wasn't a fan of breakfast, the cheese danish tasted day old. The pillows were horribly uncomfortable. I like when hotels offer two different kinds of pillows, hard and soft.

Awesome place to stay when visiting Penn State. Beautifully renovated historic building with comfortable sitting areas, great bar, nice restaurant. Comfortable beds and great amenities in the room. Nice cafe in the lobby for breakfast and good coffee.
Our room wasn't ready when we got there (after check-in time). We ended up leaving our things at the front desk and went to get dinner before checking in. We also were given a parking voucher but it didn't work so we paid full price to park for 2 days.
