Very warm welcome from all the staff who were professional ,friendly and sunny. We loved the quiet location and the very comfortable beds with excellent quality bed linen. We had dinner in the evening and although the restaurant was absolutely full with a wedding party, service was superb and the food was excellent with a main menu plus a specials board with a wide range of wines available . Service at breakfast yet again was warm and efficient and we enjoyed the sourdough toast and coffee.

Because we do not eat cooked breakfast, we would have liked a greater choice of cereals .

Breakfast = delicious granola and full breakfast adjusted to requirements. Hosting by Matt at breakfast and with Sophie alongside during the evening… worked well. Dinner = compliments to the chef, we couldn’t fault the menu, lovely meals. Room = not the room we chose but staying above the pub was not a problem. Quiet, good furnishings and an extremely comfortable bed.

The only negative is regarding the signposting of destinations throughout Dorset coupled with an irresponsible sat nav. Best to rely on a good old fashioned map.

Beautiful thatched property typical of Dorset in a lovely, quiet, rural location. The rooms were excellently decorated, very comfortable with everything you could need for your stay. Huge bath in the en-suite and we slept so well on the comfy beds. We always worry about noise when we stay away but this wasn’t a problem at all. We dined in the restaurant which was top notch food, and the breakfast too was of a really high standard. The staff and owner were very attentive and the atmosphere really relaxed. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return in the future.

Couldn’t fault anything.

It was a delightfully cosy and quaint place, tucked away in a corner of the countryside. It was our first time in England and it was a dlightful surprise coming upon the Inn after the long drive through the beautiful countryside. The room was very cosy and comfortable, even though the stairs were tiny and difficult to navigate with a suitcase! The staff was most courteous, friendly and the food, both breakfast and dinner were amazing!

The landlord, Matt, couldn’t have been more welcoming and attentive to everyone. He bar had a good choice of drinks including cask ales. The dinner menu was diverse and appealing, with a great specials board of options. The room was very spacious, well decorated and really comfortable. There were excellent facilities to make tea and capsule coffee. The bathroom was a large we room with a great shower. Breakfast was simple, effective, very tasty and good quality. The yogurt, granola and fruit compote was lovely, as was the full English. Value for money was excellent and we’ll now repeat the trip as a result of our stay.

Nothing. It was all positive.

Great value accommodation with an especially comfortable bed and good bathroom with a bath the size of a small plunge pool. Food was pretty good and I had a very tasty partridge for dinner. Breakfast was also very good quality. Staff were helpful and efficient.

A bit more space in the bar to sit down and relax would have been good but the pub and restaurant were pretty busy on the evening we stayed and the atmosphere was lively and convivial.

Very friendly staff that made us feel very comfortable. Breakfast was very good. The building had great character and location was very picturesque.

The only vegetarian option on the main menu was a salad with goats cheese which I don’t like. So I chose the other option which was one of the evenings specials which was a vegetable curry. It was very tasty but a little too spicy for me. The other two in my party very much enjoyed their meals.

Cosy & inviting, traditional, very welcoming hosts, great food & nice beer - the perfect country inn to escape to for an Autumn weekend. Felt welcome with the dog. Nicole took great care of us.

Would have liked a sofa to fall into with a nightcap after dinner but that’s a minor issue!

What an adorable little 16th-century Inn! The pub/restaurant was very authentic and the food was excellent. The owners and staff were very helpful and kind. I had forgotten my electric adapter and the barmaid gave me their iPhone charging cable to use during my stay. My room was adorable - very authentic, including all the things one might expect a 16th-century building to have. But it was very comfortable - the bed was wonderful; soft and cozy. Breakfast was fantastic. The owners have kept this little jewel in its original, historic state, which I loved and appreciated. But beware of pheasants everywhere! They are all over the roads by the hundreds. No wonder the Inn is called Brace of Pheasants.

The Brace of Pheasants is a gorgeous thatched pub, surrounded by lovely Dorset countryside, in a really quiet and peaceful location. The South African guy who runs it is super-friendly, his Polish barmaid too, and incredibly helpful and hospitable. The food is fantastic, the real ales are served from the cask, the room we stayed in is lovely, and the bed amazingly comfortable. On top of that, there are loads of nice touches that go a little above and beyond expectations: spa-quality toiletries from South Africa, homemade biltong as a bar snack, homemade granola with berry compote and yoghurt for breakfast, etc There are lovely walks in the area and plenty to see. We visited the giant at nearby Cerne Abbas and walked around Maiden Castle. The only problem? Since returning home, I've spent time looking online for somewhere else to go and cannot find anywhere as nice!! The Brace of Pheasants has spoilt me!!

Booking.com asks me what I didn't like. I'll tell you what I didn't like. Leaving!!
