The location to start is fantastic. Located in a quiet village, it’s pretty central to many destinations in Dorset. The staff couldn’t do enough for you. Honestly, excellent!!

The room layout and pillows. I had booked for the Executive Suite which over looks the pool and the courtyard which is also easy accessible if you have dogs (which we had). However in the room, there was no dressing table. When drying hair and getting ready in the morning, you have to dry your hair standing up so you can see the mirror. This room would really benefit for a dressing table. I know this is something so picky, but it’s something that can really make a difference. The pillows are extremely hard. I felt like I was sleeping on slate. Make these two changes and that room would be faultless. For breakfast, maybe have more options. If you didn’t want an English breakfast and you had an allergy, you’re pretty screwed and would have to go without.

Lovely staff and hosts, Ellie & Sarah were extremely welcoming and helpful, anything we asked for was no problem. They serve proper plates of food at a very fair price and its all very tasty including the excellent & generous full English breakfast included in the room price. Fast service at the bar which offers a full range of drinks and snacks. Everyone here that we met were very friendly and happy, probably the effect of being looked after so well. The surrounding area is very peaceful and quiet and offers many nice walks, its a beautiful, safe place. We stayed in room 11, it was very clean and comfortable with a spacious and modern bathroom and a great shower. Nothing but the wake up alarm in the morning roused us from a very good nights sleep, no noises outside to disturb us. Lots of free off road, safe parking for your vehicle as well, right beside the Inn. We stayed here with our pet dog and she was well catered for as well. They even have an outdoor pool which was open and ready to use, nice and clean. Great place, lovely people, very good value.

Nothing upset me here.

Really clean and room/bed very comfortable. Really nice full English breakfast options and very well presented. Staff were very kind and helpful.

Whilst not exactly a criticism, the management may consider preparing a guest information booklet to include things like: restaurant menu; bar meals; available meal times; reception availability/access to main bar and building times; General information about the area and local places of interest; Pool availability. I personally would have liked firmer pillows or a few spare pillows.

We stayed in a beautiful first floor suite with luxurious bathroom. The pool and terrace were a real bonus. The staff were spectacularly helpful and cheerful. Delicious breakfast!

We waited a long time for our evening meal and felt that the restaurant wasn't entirely comfortable. The sound of chairs scraping on the hard flooring was quite intrusive and the tables were rather close together. It seems a pity that it isn't possible to eat in the pretty garden. We will definitely stay here again, but we will probably eat elsewhere.

Good breakfast (included in the price) but limited menu and timings for breakfast. Great dinner - good range of options and well priced. Staff always happy and attentive. Very comfortable bed. Good room facilities - very clean. Outdoor pool was a bonus - nice and clean and clear water.

Our room wasn't serviced on the Saturday whilst we were out for the day - Only a minor point to note though. Otherwise the room was very good and clean. Upstairs neighbours kept us awake from 5 am both Saturday and Sunday mornings during our stay as they were up and pacing about on the squeaky floorboards but that's due to the age of the building and somewhat extremely early risers which was unfortunate.

The ‘Queenie Suite’ had plenty of space with a walk-in shower, jacuzzi and sun lounge with all of the expected tea-making kit, TV etc. The bed was almost as comfortable as the one at home - it was that good. The bar was a nice and friendly ‘local’ and the restaurant provided a really high quality menu of good honest English grub. My steak & ale pie was genuinely wonderful. The back garden/pool area was well laid out with plenty of seating should good weather turn up [it didn’t] and the local area is great for walking and exploring. However - above all of that - the staff were as good a team of people as you could hope to meet with a genuine welcome you can’t fake.

The Happy Shopper brown sauce at breakfast :-) Carry cash for a staff tip - we didn’t have any, but they were really lovely & so hard-working.

It was a lovely hotel, the bar was very welcoming and nicely set out, a lovely place to wind away an evening. The staff were very pleasant and friendly and made you feel very welcome. The room I had was very clean and tidy with a nice comfortable bed. I would definitely stay here again when in the area.

To be fair I don't think I had any issues? Maybe a little more information in the room as to locality etc, but that's not an issue just a suggestion.

I can't really say much about this place as i arrived around midnight and left at about 8am. However, i booked this very last minute, i.e. about 8pm that evening. The place closes at ten, but the host phoned me and gave me instructions to access my room. The room was spacious and comfortable and was accessed from outside. The bathroom was clean and functional. We had breakfast early the next morning, which was lovely, before going to our destination that morning. Had they had a room for the next few nights, we would have changed our plans and stayed there instead because of how lovely the place was.

I'm sure if i had stayed longer and had been wanting to find something not right about the place, i could have. But truthfully, it was just a lovely place, in an idyllic setting with really nice staff. You really can't ask for better than that.

In a lovely little village in the Piddle valley in Dorset

Our room was across a paved garden from the main pub . That was ok and decent weather would have been lovely but we arrived in the rain and got wet getting to and from our bedroom twice in the 2 days we stayed. But I would stay again because its location near to family was ideal. The river Piddle runs along the back of the garden which is picturesque
