It goes without saying that the location is exceptional but the real highlight of the stay was the way you were treated like a guest of the house and not just a customer. You are seated in the comfortable reception area, more like a large study, with a wonderful lady who checks you in and then escorts you to where the breakfast will be, explains that there will be black coffee available at the buffet but if you want cappuccino, etc., you ask the staff and it is freshly made. This wonderful lady then takes you back to collect your luggage , asking if you need assistance, and brings you to where the lifts are and explains were your room is and that there is always someone available to assist you, which they absolutely were. The room was well appointed and very comfortable with a well stocked fridge and coffee machine. We awoke each morning to find a sheet of beautifully headed paper with the readings and Gospel of the day printed on it, we thought that was a lovely touch.

We couldn’t fault anything

A jewel inside Vatican City. For peregrins like me, and because I travelled with my elderly mother, this place is phenomenal because it is just a couple of steps from Basicila di San Pietro. Also, several restaurants are nearby, and places to buy souvenirs and a couple of bookshops. The palace is beautiful and quiet. The breakfast had a nice variety of choices and good coffee. Every morning, prayers and psalms were left under the door <3 And they gave us all the information about the services and mass dates/hours during our stays. They also offered information about tours and other activities in Rome.

The room was a little run down; a fresh up to the walls and woodwork was needed, and the walls were so thin that I could hear the neighbours.

The location was the best! Located just a few yards from the Vatican, the view right out the door is amazing! The breakfast selection was great, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was reasonably comfortable, though small.

The pillows were completely flat, but we didn't think to ask for others. The shower may have been the smallest I've ever been in, but it worked great. The room was small, but had what what we needed. The location and charm of the hotel more than made up for any deficiencies.

The location of this hotel is hard to beat--right on the edge of St Peter's square in a beautiful old palazzo, with a stunning little courtyard inside, which was enchanting in the evenings when it was lit up--we were also directed to their sister hotel for aperitivo on a rooftop terrace overlooking the Vatican, which was really lovely (though a little pricey). The rooms were comfortable but un-flashy, but spotlessly clean and well serviced, quiet and restful. It felt so private and quiet--a real haven in busy Rome--but also so central and convenient! The breakfast was delicious--absolutely everything you could want including a cooked English breakfast with scrambled eggs, or Italian pastries (which were fresh and warm) or cereal, fruit, yoghurt, ham, cheese, toast--you would be very hard to please if you couldn't find something that you liked! Staff were attentive but unobtrusive, and the reception staff exceptionally pleasant and helpful, including arranging taxis and airport transfers. A really charming hotel. The location of this hotel

It was actually perfect. I wish we had had aperitivo in the courtyard, which I think was available, but we missed it as we were busy. We would certainly return if we were to visit Rome in the future.

Being so close to the Vatican is incredible. The views walking to and from the hotel every day were breathtaking. Felt very safe, especially so at night, when we were walking back very late. Always plenty of lighting and people around to feel secure. Rome transportation is not great, so we walked most places. The big sight seeing spots are all relatively close and there are so many things to see and do in between stops.

The shower stall is incredibly small. Very hard to move in it without touching the walls/doors. A larger person may find this especially difficult to maneuver.

Walking distance (like 50 meters) from Saint Peter’s Cathedral. Five minute walk for daily or Sunday Mass behind the hotel as well. Breakfast had a good selection. Staff was EXCELLENT - I have to single out Claudia as the most helpful staff member from Reception.

Considering the building has been thee since the 1400’s there is nothing that I could offer for an improvement, that could easily be rectified (like the shower was a bit tight for seniors).

The location is incredible..right next to St Peter's..so close you could touch it! The staff were so kind & helpful. The breakfast was good. There is a covent attached to the hotel so nuns & priests wander through a shared passage way / entrance. Each day you are given a daily bible reading. Inside the hotel is an open air atrium with tall trees..like something from another era. It is a real experience staying here. In the bustle of Rome this hotel is a little oasis of peace.

The main entrance is not obvious at night, but there is a bell & each time we were let in quicly. Sadly there are lots of rough sleepers around the Vatican..that can be a bit intimidating as one night it seemed a soup kitchen was outside the hotel doors.

Wonderful Rome experience. Only 2 days this trip but undoubtedly our most memorable. Location was faultless literally outside saint peters square. The time of year also perfect not many tourists, cool but great for exploring. Hotel was full of romantic appeal, the courtyard exceptional to relax with a Montepuliciano. The staff knowledgeable and very accomodating,

Not really a dislike, but typical old Rome hotel with small rooms. If you want big then I would suggest the more modern hotels.

Centrally located.. I can say it's at the main entrance of St Peter Basilica. Clean property, despite old aged property. Easy and close walk to St Peter, if you are doing Pilgrimage. Close to rows of Italian restaurants. Nearest Metro - Octaviono, maybe around 15-20 minutes straight walk. Friendly both reception staffs, I met Claudia, very helpful. I was given Papal Audience ticket on check in to hotel . Less mess to collect at the Basilica. Breakfast is reasonably good. All hotel staffs that I encountere during the stay was helpful. Will be back.

There is no coffee making equipment /kettle in the room. Pillows a feel a bit thin. Bed quite comfortable.

Palazzo Cardinal Cesi is a distinctive small hotel. Positioned a stone's throw from St.Peter's Square, there is little indication that it is even a hotel. Yet step beyond the doors and it is a quiet oasis away from the hubbub that is Via della Conciliazione. This is a relaxed hotel with little or no fuss or fancy facilities, so if you need a gym or a well stocked bar or restaurant, this place is not for you. However, what it has is a calm ambience you will need after a busy day's sightseeing and exceptional staff who will greet you enthusiastically and assist you with personalised information. Claudia in particular was very helpful with restaurants and advice on transport options. The bedroom was comfortable, clean and spacious though the bathroom is compact. The minibar is free (non-alcoholic). The breakfast menu was part of the package and plentiful in options as well as a packed option for early risers. We were lucky to be staying on a Tuesday night and were given free tickets to the Pope's address in the Square on Wednesday morning which was a great unexpected treat!

It was just our sort of hotel so we had no issues. On the basis of our bedroom, if you are larger in size, you might find the bathroom and shower a little challenging as the bathroom is compact. Everything you need though.
