Shannon was particularly lovely and extremely helpful, the food was exceptional, the location was great, bus stop right outside and 35 minute bus ride takes you to the Royal mile. Live music on Saturday night, even though I had to go to bed early, I knew there would be live music downstairs and I thoroughly enjoyed them singing me to sleep. Breakfast was gorgeous in the gorgeous big conservatory. Left my car in the car park as I got the bid in the the Remembrance Day events. My little single room was clean, warm and comfortable, glad I had a kettle to make a cuppa while I got ready. Nothing was too much bother to the staff, enjoyed my time in the bar, watching the rugby and so much nicer than sitting in a Travelodge room on my own!! I will be back and am recommending this perfect Inn to anyone who will listen to me. Had a nice walk in the morning, over to the river and park etc, love it!!

We recieved a very friendly welcome shown to our room as soon as we arrived Nice spacious room clean and comfy beds Modernised shower room en suite Had a drink at bar very good selection of drinks and reasonable prices We ate in the restaurant excellent chicken curry and a beef and ale pie great value and really tasty would definitely reccomend service was excellent too food arrived very quickly! Also bus stop right outside number 31 to get you into Edinburgh for £2 each And N31 brought us back after midnight for £3 each so easy and a good service Booked breakfast previous night of a full Scottish breakfast and was Really good well cooked and tasty plentiful and good service too
Only negatives were a broken part on shower riser didn't affect use of the shower just means had to be used hand held .. reported to management who said would look into it when we left Also we were in room 11 and although nice spacious room we did get a fair bit of traffic noise all through the night as on main road so would choose a room.at back of hotel next time as seems much more quiet!

Breakfast was amazing- hot and plentiful Asked for a bigger cup for my tea - got one and no problem Bus stop right outside. Most of staff very friendly. ( older lady seemed very rude towards us )
Had to kneel on the floor to plug in kettle , lead not very long as travel kettle. Could of done with an extension lead Both wall light and table lamp need bulb changing as hardly giving off any light No lock on sliding bathroom door, so felt a little exposed as sharing room with my brother ! Not able to move TV for other bed to see it.

Beds very comfortable, staff friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. Great atmosphere.
The road out front was the busiest we have ever seen, we had double glazing in our room which kept out the noise but we were there at the hottest days so far for us this year, as there is no air con we had to open the windows for fresh air and of course the constant road noise. As the beds were so comfy we did sleep but the traffic noise was constant from about 5am. Not the hotels fault they can't help where they are and it wont stop us going back.

The dinners and breakfasts were really quite good. We enjoyed the food a lot! The beds were comfortable.
Our room was located just above the local bus stop. So, there was the noise of the buses and the non-stop traffic throughout the night. We couldn’t close the window because we needed the air circulating in the room. There was also, on the Sunday night, a lot of noise from the pub below which made it difficult to sleep. There was dust under the beds which seemed to be something that had been overlooked for some time.

Friendly, accommodating staff, good food and an excellent range of beers. Nice breakfast, served in the lovely conservatory. Basic but perfectly adequate room, very comfortable bed, which is 90% of what is important about a bed and breakfast. I would happily stay here again.
The area around the bottom of the shower (on the outside, below the door) is in need of a tidy up and a touch of paint. Room 3. It didn't really bother me but some people might not like it.

We had a lovely time at the Laird and Dog Inn this weekend. We stayed in a twin room with private bathroom. The beds were so comfortable and the linen and towels were super clean. The room itself had everything you'd need including kettle for tea coffees. Yes it's a little rough around the edges but in a nice old pub sort of way. Location is unreal, bus stop literally outside the door that takes you directly into the city center and taxis are about 25 pounds if needed. Will definitely stay again if in Edinburgh

Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, bed was comfy, room pleasant and check-in / payment processes easy. Lovely open fire in the bar area and good Wifi. Would happily stay again.
Ate in the restaurant and the food could have been better. It was good, but not great. Chips were nice but broccoli overcooked, soup nice but bread not warmed, etc.

Amazing location on the direct bus route into the city centre - buses every 30min and only £5 for the family. Great rooms with new beds and wide screen TV. Excellent food and breakfast was loved by all. Lovely atmosphere from locals and guests of all ages and groups. Well decorated but keeps 1700 period features such as wood archways, large heritage and dynasty paintings but with modern clean and welcoming style, free and plenty of parking. We'll come back and explore Edinburgh again from this hotel. Friendly, excellent service. Staff met every need and even provided evening entertainment.

Beautiful inn , friendly staff
The staff were very helpful and very welcoming . However it was disappointing and caused me a lot of inconvenience that there were no essentials ( shampoo, shower gel etc ) in the shower . I only went for a shower in the morning so didn’t get chance to ask . The breakfast was sparce and a very small portion , could be more substantial . A shame about shower and breakfast , as a lovely place with friendly welcome
