This place is fantastic. Little pub in a small village in the National Park. Short drives to Hadrians wall or the Northumberland coast and the pretty towns of Otterburn and Bellingham. Beautifully decorated rooms with private bathrooms. Free parking out front on street. Lovely little bar with friendly staff and locals. Breakfast room and restaurant/cafe is gorgeous and a decent breakfast is included in the room price. It's the quintessential cozy, 'old England' that one thinks of when wanting to holiday here. We love it. (Notes: only here two nights so we didn't think about finding out whether there is anywhere to do laundry, and of course there are no self-catering facilities, although apparently there is a BBQ, but we chose to eat out so didn't ask to use it)
The same thing has plagued our entire stay in the UK at every accommodation we've been to (so far we've been here a month): the duvet. Rooms are well insulated and it's summer. A duvet is too hot. A sheet and light blanket would be preferable. However, to be fair, if we had asked for this I think they would have supplied it, so this isn't really a negative for this place, just one in general. Mattress was comfortable with the right level of fitness, but a bit 'slopey' at the edges (ie, I had the feeling I was going to roll out) Son says there's no cat (he has said that at every place we've been to đ)

It was all good, the building, the village, bar, beer, food, staff and service. Our room was lovely and having viewed their "premium" rooms, they were brilliant (next time!). Elsdon is in a lovely part of Northumberland (are there any bad bits?) with beautiful views and roads in all directions, a great destination if you enjoy a walk, ride or drive of any nature.
Not much, spare headroom in the shower was nil for me (6' 2") and less under the light but a small price to pay for low ceilings in a lovely old building. The beer garden would benefit from tidying and a place to store the parasols when the wind renders them unuseable. đ

Everything!! The Skylark Suite was exceptional, comfy bed, large room/bathroom. All Staff were very welcoming & helpful, went above & beyond. Breakfast was delicious & freshly cooked, evening meals delicious also. Stunning scenery & views. Hotel had such a nice relaxed atmosphere. Me and my Mam had a great weekend, we left feeling like we had known Kerry,Maureen,Anne,Jeanette & manager for years! We will most certainly be returning đ I'll try not to lose my phone & bankcard next time đ¤Śââď¸đđ¤Ł

Their country pub is in a great location far from the hustle & bustle of a city. Nicely finished and very clean. We booked based on our requirements for the weekend and weâre worried about recent reviews; but canât understand how anyone could be upset.
As a cask drinker I was interested in trying the First & Last beers. On the night tried both; not overly fussed on the Pale but IPA was okay. Thought it was just a matter of taste until I tried it at a second venue the following day. It was excellent. I am going to drop Jackie a line; perhaps itâs down to the volume they sell?

Great place, a little off the beaten track maybe, but worth the effort. Located in a lovely little village, we were immediately made welcome and shown to our comfortable and spacious room. We had our evening meal there and the food was delicious, especially dessert. Breakfast was excellent too. We would definitely go back and maybe spend a bit more time there to explore the area. Highly recommended.
Honestly, we couldn't fault anything. If were to be picky, then maybe the beer garden could do with a tidy up but otherwise, for what we paid, and what was provided, we were delighted and really pleased we found this place.

Excellent breakfast and great choice of hot food, also fresh juices, cereals etc. I had the eggs Benedict and eggs royale.. absolutely gorgeous didnât want it to end, also ate in on the first evening there and this was also excellent. Room was a large family room with comfy beds, loved the touches like cotton buds, makeup wipes & toiletries and a great choice of teas, coffee, biscuits and water provided. All staff were brilliant and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. So peaceful especially at night, no traffic noise just felt so relaxed while there. About half an hour away from A1 but such a beautiful area was no issue being a bit further out, even stopped the car on the way home on the one clear night we had to see the wonderful starry sky⌠so beautiful to see without any light pollution.
Loved everything, no negative comment needed.

Lovely rural accomodation away from the city. Small village with a quaint pub atmosphere. We had driven down from Edinburgh and stayed the night here - then drove through to Hadrians wall - to The Sills the next day. The drive was super easy and relaxing - so a great location if thinking of doing the same. Snacks for a hike/ roadie or cycle were available to purchase which was a nice touch in the breakfast room - and a delicious (menu) breakfast the next day was much appreciated. There are a lot of cyclists around especially in the weekends - so enjoy the slow pace of the drive to soak up the rural area - also I do advise that when we stayed a group was either staying or meeting up in the village/ Hotel at 6.30am on a Saturday morning - waking us up by talking loudly - which we found a little disappointing - but we made the most of it and got up early to head out to Hadrians wall before it got too hot.
Maybe a little signage asking or reminding cyclists - 'shhh others patrons are staying here' - if they mention they will be waking early for the cyclists' meeting outside the Hotel or staying and getting up early. We did think that it wasn't too bad at least they would be visiting the cafe/ Hotel downstairs for coffee - something to eat at least (thinking the Hotel would be at least benefiting from them being there) - but don't think they were.

The Bird in Bush is a hidden gem, as village pubs go, it really is a wonderful example (I highly recommend the local beers from the first & last brewery) The room was great, bed was very comfy and the breakfasts were superb as were the other meals I had. All of this was wonderful, but the staff really made the stay, Jackie and the team were amazing, I was made to feel welcome from the word go, and nothing seemed too much bother for them, a truly wonderful and lovely lot. Thank you!
Nothing.

We very much enjoyed the attention, care and friendliness of the staff. They took really good care of us during our stay. The family room and our beds were superb quality as was our breakfast. We loved our room that much that when the weather was really nasty one day, we just spent the day in our room.
The condensation on the windows in the morning. We dried them off in the morning and opened the windows to let in some fresh air and that usually was enough to solve it for the rest of the day. Unfortunately the weather was too cold to keep them ajar during the night.
