Amazing location, beautiful views. So nice to have a balcony- what a rare treat. I loved having a cup of coffee there in the morning. The food in the restaurant was stunning and amazing value. Every course was really tasty with perfect portion sizes and fantastic service. The staff were all excellent, very friendly and helpful. The newly refurbished bathroom looked lovely and was super clean.

Unfortunately, the pool needs to close. It is very run down with mould on the rim. There was mould on the tiles I could wipe off with my finger, meaning it just hadn’t been cleaned. Not ideal and in fact took away from the overall experience of the hotel. If there is a plan to develop any part of the hotel, the balconies would be a great focus. The sides need making more private, so you can’t see straight into next doors balcony, the rails need painting and the floor replacing. This really is an amazing feature and wouldn’t cost much too much to spruce up. Overall, a really lovely hotel.

Really enjoyed a one night off season stay in a lovely location. Perfect for what I needed. Think I was upgraded to a better room as it was very quiet. Nice to have the option for a free swim and sauna. Good locally brewed beer on tap in the bar. Great walks in the area. Friendly helpful staff.

The bar meal wasn't the greatest and not a huge choice for vegetarians, but understandable given it was off season. Its an old building and some minor renovation or updating of the decor would be worthwhile, though many will like the traditional country look.

Food is amazing, really thought out, and well presented. While the building is a bit worn, it adds to the character of the place. The staff are amazing - I can't emphasise this enough. They are friendly and approachable, and you can have a laugh with them. I've been here several times and would always come back.

There was a bit of an issue with hot water (but not heating), which the staff were very apologetic for and did manage to resolve. The pool was uncomfortably cool, but I understood that it was connected to the same boiler issue.

Our room had a balcony which gave us great views of the grounds and beyond. The hotel’s location is perfect for exploring the Northumberland National Park. We had a lovely time walking to and from Hareshaw Linn Waterfall. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The facilities included an indoor swimming pool and sauna, both of which were clean and well-maintained. The meals and drinks added to our pleasure, being delicious and promptly served. Food delicious and well presented and always served with a smile and courteously. Staff were down to earth and very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Location beautiful. Enjoyed the pool and sauna all to myself too.

Confusion with room allocated on arrival as not what was confirmed on Booking.com when I paid (superior double with garden view and balcony). The room allocated had no garden view or balcony and was in the old Manor house as opposed to the newer blocks off the terrace. However, when I raised this, the lady on Reception did then offer a room of the same description as the one I had booked. She showed me around the room but as I had already unpacked my things and got settled, I decided to stay where I was.

The room was big with excellent views across the lawn down to the river. The food was excellent, the portions were amazing including breakfast. The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. My only disappointment would be that I was looking forward to a balcony or terrace but that is not the hotels fault it was the description on the booking agent website.

Really comfy bed and pillows - comfiest hotel I’ve stayed in for ages! The room and bathroom were extremely clean and the staff were exceptional. We had an evening meal in the bar, and that and the breakfast were very good.

The only negative is that the hotel is a little tired/dated in places. However, this didn’t detract from our enjoyment.

The view from our room was fantastic, fields and the river. Breakfast was really good and everything piping hot. Staff were all really nice and helpful. They even got the chef to cook us up a lovely evening meal before opening time as we were going out early.

We didn't realise it was a dog friendly hotel, which is not a problem for us, but the room had a little doggy smell about it, which can be a little off putting for non doggy people.

Absolutely brilliant staff,totally relaxed after the Christmas break,even though I've a cottage 3 miles away being decorated for spring for my family,I've booked again,and will continue till works complet till then the meals are Moreton great had a swim and sauna totally spotless out of ten ,I give them 12,if your chilling or just relaxing lovely Riverside walks you cannot or need not go further well done to you all best wishes don

Great location for touring the NE & kielder Forrest areas, the friendly and very helpful staff, the food we had was basic but tasty evening bar food and excellent cooked breakfast in the morning. The 2 rooms we had were huge, nicely decorated (one had only very recently been updated to a slightly higher standard) and spotlessly clean.

Its a bit tired looking in areas (especially the swimming pool area) but this did not detract from what was a very enjoyable stay for us
