Thank you to all the staff who were very friendly and helpful. The Breakfasts were very good, with plenty of fruits and cereals to choose from and the cooked breakfast was very good, and nice tasty bacon and sausage, poached eggs cooked just right! Evening Meals were excellent with a good choice on menu. I have allergies and they took great care when preparing my meal, Our room was fine, situated overlooking the garden and the River Tyne which was lovely, comfortable bed and nice and quiet, so slept well. I preferred to have a bath in the room, but we only had a shower, but we managed with that anyway. Overall very pleased with our stay and would stay here again. Shirley and Mike
Would have preferred to have a bath as well as a shower.

Lovely breakfast, location next to the river second to none and absolutely spectacular. Surrounded by beautiful gardens. Lovely, warm pool and gym. Pleasant and helpful staff. Nothing too much trouble.
Breakfast buffet not always stocked up on things like eggs etc. I like a good supply of tea with my breakfast, which was difficult to get when only a small teacup and teabag were offered rather then a pot, or a reasonably sized mug, which appeared to be a perk only for a coach trip who were staying at the same time. Difficult to reserve table for dinner at a time we preferred, apparently because of said coach party. Long wait for service at dinner for the same reason. Room not attended to although sign was up, so had to find items to top up hospitality tray elsewhere.

Food was lovely no fault at all. Lots of choice at breakfast. The rooms were clean but there were (I know a bit petty) but cobwebs in corners and on light flies were in the shade. One main thing that would have been some information in the room, different things about the hotel ie the history of the hotel and places to go and the area whilst visiting. The gardens that had little ponds were all covered in green fungi and if children were running around outside it was very easy for them to fall into. Not a very nice site, a bit of a clean would be nice so show proper water in it. The room needs a bit of tidying up - a little bit drab.
All in all everything was fine except for that mentioned above. With these little things it would be a really nice place to stay.

The hotel is in a beautiful location. I stayed whilst visiting my mum who has recently moved to a nursing home so needed somewhere close to Hexham. The room was fine for the price and I slept really well because it was very quiet. It was also very clean. I enjoyed the breakfast and there was a good range of food. Again, for the price it was good value. The staff were all lovely and very friendly and helpful.
The room is a bit dated but fine for the price. I thought I wouldn’t sleep well because I could feel the springs in the mattress but I did have a good nights sleep. The jam with breakfast wasn’t very good quality but overall the breakfast was good value for money.

The setting was lovely right by the river and beautiful stone bridge. Lots of sitting lounge areas which had wood burners so in winter would be very cosy. Staff on reception so welcoming and all staff friendly. Perfect location for all Hadrians wall sites. Didn’t use the swimming pool but it looked a good size with jacuzzi too. Hotel all seemed very clean and well decorated. It has a quirky layout merging the old buildings with the new but lovely gardens and lots of seats.
Need a proper mattress protector on both beds, one had a suitable one one was just a crinkly one & the straps didn’t hold it in place - actual beds comfortable though and even though just a standard twin the room was large. TV was also very small it wasn't easy to see from sitting on the beds. Shower pressure good but actual shower head very small but lashings of hot water.

This hotel has mixed reviews and I was a bit nervous when booking there 3 nights. But we loved it. The location is stunning directly by the river Tyne (which is the blackest river I ever have seen, by the way. Fascinating...). The hotel sits in a very beautiful and well kept garden and has nice seats outside. If (!) the weather allows, sitting in the garden is gorgeous (looking onto the river and the very old bridge). The middle part of the hotel is an old inn - as I understood from the 18th century. Loved this vibe. In walking distance is the beautiful village as well as a path by the river. Surrounded by picturesque landscape. Food was very good (diner and breakfast). Nice wines. Very cosy dining room and very cosy bar. Cannot praise the bar keeper enough. He was a really charming and cheerful person - his name starts with an "H" (unfortunately cannot remember more). Please keep him, he is the best! It is easy to visit Hadrian's Wall and Hexham from here. The whole area is fascinating and beautiful - a lot of history. Absolutely loved Hexham cathedral, by the way. Our room was basic, but with a lovely view to the river and a quite modern bathroom. Cannot complain. It was at the end of the garden in the annex. Would recommend that room. (Check carefully which room you book. I think they are different, especially the bath rooms).
I have no complaints. Our room was basic, but this was expected. This is an old inn, not a grand hotel...

Friendly helpful staff. Any issues were dealt with promptly. Great breakfast options. Good food in restaurant. All very well cooked. Gardens beside the river are lovely. Very close to Hadrians wall. Good parking available.
A friend used the swimming pool and only realised once they were in that the was no towel service and they had to go back to they room wet. Also you have to pay for a locked. The prepaid meal deal doesn't make any sense. Ie £45 for supper but it literally just means you have paid £45 towards your meal there is no benefit/bonus in doing this. Some friends got charged twice. However this was sorted out quickly.

The room was spacious and comfortable. It had a lovely view of the gardens, river and bridge. The location is fabulous. Staff were very pleasant and friendly. Special mention to the restaurant team who were polite , pleasant and incredibly efficient. The breakfast was good, plenty of choice and a high standard of quality. We ate in the restaurant twice, and again the food was very good.
The hotel pool area was in need of a bit of TLC, but I understand it's going to be upgraded. We used it everyday, and it was a welcome addition to our stay, just not very attractive! The hotel water urn for tea at breakfast was not very hot.

The location is outstanding, as are the patio and the buffet breakfast. I could imagine reading by the fire in one of the lounges on a cold winter's day. The restaurant and lounges were very clean, well furnished and inviting.I thought it was excellent value for money at less than £60pp for bed and breakfast including use of a pool. I would certainly like to return and stay for 3-5 nights.
The swimming pool and gym are small and look rather tired. The staff could have been more welcoming and engaging. In a few interactions, I found most of them rather distant and cool. The one exception was the bar tender with the thinning black hair who was lovely. Sorry, I didn't catch his name.
