The free spa facilities were disappointing. The jacuzzi, sauna and steam were all cold and not enjoyable. There is an electrical fault on the pool or jacuzzi, if you stick your legs between the two you get shocked. .

You can't miss breakfast at Irene Country Lodge, it's exceptional. You won't find it anywhere. I think they have a farmer who plant Rooibos tea specific for them. If you know Rooibos before the year 2000.

There was a lady who was rude in a restaurant. I think she was in charge on the morning of 27 and 28 August. She needs training on how to talk to people. She doesn't read the room, you can tell by how she was talking to her colleagues. On the 27th on my birthday she approached me and said something very unpleasant, she could have waited for us to sit down or came to our room before she said what she said to us. After realizing that she was wrong, she never apologized instead she told us to sit down and enjoy our breakfast. All that was erased when we went to dinner. Everyone was friendly again, they decorated our table with pink and we were wearing pink, our stay is unforgettable. Thanks Joyce

We had a lovley Christmas Eve / Christmas Day 2 day stay at Irene country lodge. Each and every staff member was absolutley friendly and and just so helpful. Our rooms were clean and fresh with comfortable beds. It rained much but we happily just stayed within the hotel and enjoyed the Christmas spirit. We had pre booked the Christmas Day buffet lunch which was well prepared and tasty. I will most definitley return to Irene Country Lodge in the near future. 👍

The welcoming view from reception to gardens. All immaculate. Rooms excellent. Felt like a five star experience. Dining wasn't fully on point. Out of our party of eleven. Three dinners were dreadful and disappointing, but overall the stay outshone that blimp. Staff excellent, professional all round.

Dinner, truly not great. We would probably dine outside in Irene surrounds next time. Breakfast too was pleasant but not wow... Toast took forever to brown, queue at egg station was silly (all your hot buffet food was now cold, the wait was long)... Bar. Cuppacino, etc very pleasant. Spa excellent.

Beautiful setting. The rooms are lovely and more spacious than many hotels with attention paid to small details like the toilet that is separate from the bathroom. Pillow menu also a nice touch. The restaurant is stunningly decorated with a gorgeous view and the live music was the cherry on top! Reception staff were very efficient and helpful. The staff in the lounge were so kind, bringing us champagne all the way on the other side of the dam where we sat under the trees and listened to the birds, just enjoying nature. You can hardly believe you’re in the middle of the city in this tranquil setting.

The pool is situated in a rather strange place, at the reception area and not on the side of the hotel with the view of the dam and where the restaurant and bar is. But definitely not a deal breaker.

I didn't like that I have paid 2495 for Christmas lunch and not told that it was excluding the drinks and after eating I was presented with the bill of 1760 including the drinks, I told them that I have paid 2495 already for Christmas lunch and they continued to charge us 460 for the drinks on top of 2495, which means i have paid around 3000 for 4 adults and 2 kids instead of 1760. I felt like I was robbed around 1000.

The staff was professional and friendly and even assisted with an access card to go through to Irene Farm for breakfast after we had checked out. We had a late lunch in the bar area after checking in and the food was delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will be back!

We requested additional milk for the room and although delivered promptly and more than what we asked for, the milk was slightly watery. Otherwise, we were very happy with all other facets of our stay.

The rooms are specious and clean. The lake view was so relaxing and beautiful. We loved their pizza and burgers ..OMG. The house keeping staff was so helpful and super friendly.

Checking in we were not informed about breakfast times and check out times. We didn't know what time dinner starts and when the kitchen is closed. We went to the pool area and we didn't know how to open the gate.the gate had an access code which was not shared with us.

The room and the views from there. Nice big bed, very comfortable. I love that the mat on the floor is well maintained, it's fresh and clean. No smell from it. One enjoys walking barefoot even at the availability of slippers.

The reception no longer has complimentary sparkling wine. Thats disappointing. And the room can come with breakfast at that rate.

The staff were the 'stand-out for us. They went above and beyond the realm of duty and adjectives that come to mind are courteous, friendly, efficient, knowledgeable and nothing was too much effort. The location is gorgeous, well-maintained, peaceful, colourful and interesting. The spa provided the pampering and relaxation we needed and we enjoyed its many facilities - treatments, hot water jet tub, refreshing pool, loungers to enjoy the sunshine and lunch on a well-appointed terrace. Overall, a lovely two-day break-away - THANK YOU!

As a vegan, the menu choices were somewhat limited, but having said that, the staff accommodated me to the best of their ability. The television sound and viewing was disappointing. The walking trails are gorgeous but on arriving at the Hennops River portion we were disgusted - just plastic, tyres, slimy, putrid, stagnant water with the smell of sewage in the air and it would probably be in your interest to cordon off the area to prevent your guests from witnessing this. Just a thought.
