The two week stay we had at the hotel was fantastic. Although the rooms were great and the food was great, it was the staff that made the stay exceptional. I'd like to point out that Lindah, David, Mariskus, Anwin, Thelma, Vuyo, Mart-marie, Amy and the floor manager (I never asked his name unfortunately) were all amazing, attentive and friendly. The manager went out of his way to make sure we were looked after and comfortable. There were also one or two other staff at the breakfast area (whose names I didn't get) and the in-room dining staff that were fantastic. Even the ladies that helped clean the rooms were friendly.

The only critique I have is that there was a maintenance crew that came very early in the mornings (6 am) for a few days. However I do understand that they were working on making the pool area safe for the busy season.

Great location, super friendly and accommodating staff and management team, good food

We were contacted the morning of our arrival date asking if we would still be staying at King George. It was quite confusing to us as it was the 3rd leg of our trip and the accommodation had been paid in full a while before. Upon our arrival, we discovered that the deluxe room we had booked with terrace was not available. Instead we were offered a room with no view, no patio or balcony. This was when we understood why we were asked if we were still planning on staying there. The manager on duty, Ikeraam Abdurahman, was an absolute star however and went out of his way to make it up to us in so many ways. We left with warm hearts and fond memories to treasure of our stay at King George Protea Hotel 🙏❤️ Will definitely recommend.

The facilities were very good, and every thing was very clean.

The staff are very nice and helpful but they lack training and this aspect needs to be addressed. Many of them obviously do not understand how overseas visitors may have different ways to describe things like Irish coffee as a simple example or what the items on the menu are or that if the booking was made via a booking agency that is what has been agreed with the visitor and that they do not expect any changes to the billing. Having made this comment we would say that overall the stay was very good.

Pleasant Stay at Protea Hotel by Marriott, George Our family's one-night stay at the Protea Hotel by Marriott in George was thoroughly enjoyable. The room met our expectations, matching the photos we had seen online, which was reassuring. The secured parking was a highlight, complemented by very friendly and helpful security guards who made us feel safe and welcome. This added a sense of comfort to our stay. Its proximity to popular attractions made our stay convenient, allowing us to explore the area with ease. The room's amenities, including the quality of linens and the well-maintained bathroom, were impressive and contributed significantly to our comfort. Overall, our experience at the Protea Hotel was delightful, thanks to its excellent facilities and the warm hospitality of the staff. We look forward to staying here again and highly recommend it to others visiting George.

Bathoom amenities.

Hotel was better then we expected. Unlike the pictures we got a newly renovated room with modern update to the bathroom and furnishing. We had a pool behind our room so we didn't have to go through to the main reception area to use the pool. Also the view was amazing. We had the room closest to the gate and was expecting it to be noisy but it was such a peaceful stay.

New tv installed but it doesn't connect to the internet. If when we want to connect to our own internet it also didn't allow so could only watch dstv.

I ordered diner via room service option. It did not disappoint. Service and quality of food. I was service, accommodated and service. Something on the set menu was not to my liking at the waiter arranged that my request get met . I was stoked. Next morning breakfast was brilliant as expected. Staff on point; friendly, intuitive , helpful and professional. Front desk should not be forgotten. Both the lady and gent on duty was consistently professional. Helped and sorted me effortlessly. I will surely return. Only regret was that I could not remember their names, which was no fault of their own :) So to be concise it was a collaborative effort from security to security, from beginning to end.

We were upgraded to a suite. A beautiful 2 bedroom room. Wonderful balcony with views of the golf course.

Some of the furniture in the room were worn. Only 3 towels provided for 4 people, apparently they had a towel issue, but they knew the hotel was fully booked. They are upgrading at the moment, constant grinding, drilling, banging beneath our room even on saturday and sunday. The breakfast was a let down compared to when we stayed there last year Oct. We waited for a hour and a half on friday & 2 hours on saturday evening. Again, they knew the hotel was fully booked, be prepared. A lot of potential but needs to be prepared when they know the hotel is fully booked.

Breakfast devine. Dinner devine. Staff exceptional. Security great..Rooms comfy and cozy..

Nothing I did not like but would add two suggestions. 1. A shower door. The breeze in the shower is cold and most of the floor wet and slippery when getting out. 2. A small microwave in the room. I have a VERY picky eater and he wanted 2 minute noodles which I could not make. We ended up getting him to eat the most devine pasta at the restaurant, but for "self catering" a smallish microwave oven would be great.

The restaurant host was excellent pity i can remember his name he worked day shift the saturday and the sunday. The room was clean and neat. I'm not sure if there was a function on saterday Eve, but the other guest was very noisy, FOH guest service agent was helpful and friendly. Had lunch the saturday afternoon our meal was good,room service the evening and breakfast the sunday, breakfast was a bit of a letdown but over all the stay was comfortable and the staff was very friendly.

The breakfast was really good with lots of variety. The dinner was good quality with big portions. The rooms are connected which is very good for a family with kids.

The connecting room 101 was on the ground floor, but the rooms windows are so big that we could not leave them open at night for safety concerns. Then the aircons are not working properly with loud noises. Generators are very closeby that wakes us up at night when they kicked in. Lights flashes when the generators and Eskom power switches, even at night.
