The property was very clean. I was impressed with the number of wall hooks in the bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped, including a coffee plunger, new gas stove and oven, as well as back-up load shedding lights and inverter. The bathroom fittings are new and in great condition. They also provided a Weber, together with charcoal.

The invertor comes on at night and is a bit noisy, but Henriette did point this out when we arrived, and closing the bedroom door resolved the problem. The cabins are wood, and one can hear guests in other units moving on the wooden floors, but it was not major concern.

The view is absolutely spectacular. The cabin was made of logs and had everything you could need supplied and was situated in a garden with mature trees and shrubs, which provides absolute privacy from the other cabins on the property. The hosts were also fantastic as were the other staff. The beds were very comfortable with plenty of extra blankets should it turn cold.

The only thing that could be a slight problem for inexperienced drivers was the steep driveway, but to my mind, this addes to the charm of the place.

Enchanting Stay at Big Tree House, Knysna Our two-night stay at the Big Tree House in Knysna was a delightful experience. Despite a rainy arrival, the host's warm personal welcome showcased exceptional hospitality. The unit was a dream, just like in the photos, offering the unique charm of staying in an actual treehouse. Its privacy and the feeling of being nestled in nature were truly special. Navigating the steep slope to the secure parking was an adventure in itself, adding to the uniqueness of our stay. The location was ideal, close to popular attractions and in a safe area, which was perfect for exploring Knysna. The amenities, including high-quality linens and a fully equipped kitchen, were top-notch, ensuring a comfortable and homely stay. In summary, our visit to the Big Tree House was an unforgettable experience, thanks to the wonderful setting, excellent amenities, and the host's outstanding hospitality. We look forward to returning and highly recommend it to others seeking a unique stay in Knysna.

Navigating the steep slope to the secure parking was an adventure in itself.

Our favourite place we stayed in South Africa! Beautiful chalet with views of Knysna, very spacious and had all the amenities we needed. Attention to detail was fantastic, with plenty of toiletries, linen, battery lamps for loadshedding, great Wi-Fi that never cut out. Felt very private and secure and the hosts were absolutely wonderful and had great recommendations for our stay. Check in and communication was great. Quick drive into town centre and parking was secure and spacious. Highly recommend this place to anyone.

No faults, we were happy with everything

The property was very spacious and had a beautiful view. Everything about this place was very good. They had smart Tv so you can watch Netflix. The owners were very friendly n helpful. It was a comfortable stay apart from the cold weather. The housekeeping was daily . This property is on the other side of waterfront area but not too far just a 10min drive away. There were supermarkets n restaurants nearby as well.

The parking is bit uphill and tricky. But I feel the whole town is like that. Secondly I felt the heaters should be more effective for the cold weather… it would have been cozier for us.

Great from facility and view perspectives.

A bit steep, also within the facility. So gou need a car with some extra power. Tbey claim to dry your towels for yku wben it is wet outside and drying outside is not possible. But in practise they do not this. Then better not to promise, than promise and do not deliver. There is a kind of apparatus to control the electricity in the room for the tv which regulsrly makes a lot of noice.

The view and the garden are stunning! You immediately feel at home, especially with such nice hosts. Additionally, it was great having the possibility to barbecue and it's a super starting point for exploring of Knysna. We would definetely come back!

Even though the house is really nice and offers plenty of space, it is unfortunately a bit light-hearing and can't really be darkened. In addition, the fan of the power station in the living area doesn't run very quietly. Apart from that, the equipment is really good!

Our accommodation was equipped with an inverter to ensure that load shedding didn't affect our stay. The view from the porch over the lagoon was amazing. The accommodation is private and secluded from the rest of the town, ensuring peace and quiet during our stay.

Nothing negative to add, just a note for future visitors: ensure that your vehicle is able to drive up a very steep driveway, especially after it rained, otherwise wait for the driveway to dry before leaving.

We stayed in the “sunbird” cabin. It was spacious, comfortable and well thought out. It had all the facilities listed on the booking.com website and gave us the privacy and “alone time” we were looking for. The hosts were friendly and hands on whenever we needed assistance. They accommodate loadshedding as well, by use of an inverter in the cabin (we did not expect this) and a gas stove and oven. The Wi-Fi did not disappoint either!

This may not necessarily relate to the property itself but because it was quite cold in the area and inside the cabin itself - we would’ve preferred heaters that heated the place up a bit more because we barely felt the heat radiated by the ones currently on the property. Nonetheless, we’ll remember to pack warmer next time.

Wow. From the minute we arrived at the lodge, my family and I were blown away. The location, the premises and cottages were all just perfect. The owners are delightful people that accommodated me with my requests. We had the pleasure of staying in the Sunbird cottage while my parents were in the Protea cottage. On the drive up from Cape Town we experienced heavy rains all through the weekend. We were worried that the cottages were going to be a bit chilly but they are really well insulated and the heaters provided were beyond adequate for myself, wife and my 2 year old son. Although we had rainy weather all weekend, staying at the Big tree house Lodge was absolutely breathtaking. Our only regret is that our visit was so short. We will definitely be back soon!
