Osborne House

The vintage setup of the guest house was soothing and exquisite. The garden well maintained and beautiful. The location was excellent in that it was quite and peaceful yet close enough to places like the Brooklyn Mall for instance. The hosts were friendly, particularly the lady of the house. She arranged a new room for us when we were not happy with the bed in the room we were booked into. That's excellent customer service in my books.

The rooms didn't have air-conditioning. While comfortable, the beds have seen better days and should be replaced. In the room we were moved into, the shower is in the bathtub and I would suggest that the two be separated (there's enough space to do it) as the water spills over while showering. More towel racks would help too. Perhaps consider putting blinds in the other bedrooms to enhance privacy with the curtains open.

Osborne House is conveniently located close to our family, the centre of Pretoria and various amenities. The rooms were comfortable and shower had good power. Breakfast each morning was also nice. The hosts were very friendly. Having the little sitting area with fridge and kettle was a nice touch.

Double parking in the car inside the gates was a little inconvenient when another guest needed to move their vehicle. But at least the cars were off the road. The double bed we had was very small-next time I'd opt for a twin bedroom so that we had more space for my 6'2" husband. Load shedding is a bit of an issue as this property does not have solar or back up generator power - I had one cold shower during our stay of 3 nights which wasn't too bad. Just come prepared with your battery pack if you need power overnight for medical devices.

Location is fantastic for parents with students at Tukkies. Close to all amenities. The room is beautiful in this old historic home and the garden is stunning, with the Ddition of an inviting pool, especially in a 38 degree Pretoria. Breakfast was delicious and a good start to everyday. The hosts Waynand and Jeanette are wonderful hosts and make you feel at home and comfortable, nothing is too much trouble.

We would've loved an air-conditioned room, but do understand with loadshedding everything is an issue.

This historical house is charming and well maintained, and our hosts were beyond wonderful. My mom had a bad fall (at another venue!), and they made her as comfortable as possible and checked in on her regularly when I was not around. Great location if you need to be near the university, and the suburb is beautiful and quiet. Breakfasts are yum! We were made to feel very welcome and really enjoyed our stay and interactions with our hosts. Will definitely be back!

I would recommend some additional heaters, as the rooms are very large and can get a bit chilly on a winter's evening. That said, the bedding is comfy and warm, so once you're snuggled in, you're fine!

Such amazing hosts. They were kind and hospitable and did everything they could to make my stay easy. The room was really large with a separate space to work and doors opening to the pool. Breakfasts were delicious and they even let me invite two guests to breakfast one morning! The area was safe and quiet - I went for morning runs in the neighborhood and felt perfectly safe as a woman on my own. It was like a home away from home and I would definitely go back.

Very friendly, intelligent and supportive hosts, full of humor and hospitality, who exceeded my expectations. You feel at home, all your requests are addressed very fast. The breakfast is very tasty. It was also a pleasure to meet other guests who made an enjoyable company. Very calm atmosphere, high quality Internet, greenness around, safe area and very close to Brooklyn Mall. Flexibility to come and go any time, with a home feeling.

Stunning guesthouse located in a beautifully preserved historic building. Superb bed, lovely room with many original details, high ceilings, tea/coffee set in the room. There's a communal terrace with comfy chairs and a nice garden surrounding the house. The breakfast was amazing and very personalised, with both Wynand and Jeanette helping us (and other guests) with some fresh fruit salad and eggs, and toasts, and coffee. Absolutely fantastic hosts and place, well worth a visit. We will hopefully be returning here and are very glad to recommend this place to our friends, family and colleagues.

The hosts are absolutely lovely and very accommodating. It's so peaceful and quiet that you dont even feel as though you are in a city. Perfectly located and very safe. The ambiance of the house and lucius garden made it hard for us to have to leave to return back to our own home. We truly had a peaceful, relaxing experience and there is honestly nothing that we could fault. Breakfast was wholesome and delicious as well! 🏆

There was nothing we could fault with or found to be offputting. The only regret is that we couldn't stay longer!

It's a beautiful old building with such breathtaking detail, high ceilings and beautiful chandeliers....so much character and captivating gardens. Absolutely amazing service, helpful and friendly owners that make you feel at home. Affordable, you get more than you pay for. Definitely worth every sent. Delicious breakfast, wonderful spacious rooms and very friendly staff. Close to embassies, Brooklyn mall and university and although in Brooklyn very pieceful and private. We really enjoyed our visit at Osborne House and will definitely stay there again in future when in the area and can definitely recommend Osborne House to all. Thank you to the owners for making us feel at home and welcome it felt like our home away from home.

There was really nothing to dislike!

We enjoyed a wonderful warm and hearty breakfast every morning. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Panel heaters and a electric blanket made for nice warm evenings.

The parking - getting out of my vehicle at night to unlock a gate is not very safe for a single person. However, I should mention that there was a guard that assisted and the owner also came out at night when we arrived. Parking space is very limited.
