The room was so very comfortable! The wall heater didn’t do much to heat the room but the electric mattress pad and heavy duvet kept us warm. The large walk-in shower was absolutely a highlight! The hot shower on a cold, wet day was perfect! We loved the little things like the cozy blankets outside the room to wrap in to sit at either the table or 2 seater. If we had more time there, much of our time would have been spent either around the seater or by the pool. The individualized spaces that you have created for each room was lovely too with the partitioning, separate tables and such.

1. I would have liked to have put my things into a room safe. 2. I kept getting tripped up in the room rug. 3. Initially, we were a little nervous of storing things in the fridge outside the room. It worked out fine in the end but we wondered if the fridge could be in the room for convenience as well along with safety? We didn’t know the area / city so was very shocked to find no gates, walls, or barbed wire around each property. It made for a refreshing experience to just breathe and soak in the misty atmosphere.

La Sosta is a Boutique hotel is every sense of the word without the price tag of a hotel. This accomodation is a gem, in the town of Swellendam and within walking distance of it's lovely shops, cafes and historic areas. With beautiful maintained grounds and lovely rooms and some of the most friendly welcoming staff we have met . Do not miss the opportunity to dine in their onsite restaurant as you won't be disappointed they have amazing talented chefs who cook with pure passion and innovation to deliver Michelin star quality food at local prices, And what a meal!!!. The food, presention and service is just incredible (so if you don’t stay here, make sure you eat here) as you'll be blown away by the standard and quality. we are so thankful to the team for one of the most memorable stays we’ve had on this trip to Swellendam and SA. A truly wonderful experience, thank you all 😁😁We hope to get back for a third visit in the near future.

Nothing, everything you require was catered for.

The room was very comfortable and facilities were excellent. The gardens and pool area were beautiful as was the restaurant area.

The only disappointment was the breakfast arrangement which in comparison with similar places fell short. Only one dish was offered from a choice of four, the juices did not seem to be fresh and there was an additional charge for anything other than filter coffee or tea. We would rather have paid more to have a more comprehensive breakfast. However, this was not a big issue and we would want to stay here again.

La Sosta is a gem in Swellendam. We had booked for the previous night but due to car trouble were stuck some 700 km away. I called two days in advance to advise that we could not take up our booking and asked if we could possibly have a voucher for another time. The response was quick and positive. When we were underway we didn't think we could get to Swellendam but at 4 pm I called and asked if we could still have a room and received a warm and welcoming reply. We were met by Bronwyn with a superb welcome. To cap it all we had a wonderful dinner in their amazing restaurant.

La Sosta is a wonderful family-run accommodation with great attention to detail and modern furnished rooms. Our room had a very large bed, a beautiful bathroom with a huge shower and a small veranda facing the garden. In addition to the luxurious rooms, there is a first class restaurant on the premises serving both dinner and breakfast. The food is at top level and leaves nothing to be desired. The service of the staff is excellent as well. We will definitely visit this accommodation again on our next trip to South Africa.

We really enjoyed the breakfast that was included - very special and exceeded our expectations by far. Owners and staff extremely friendly and attentive - for both the guest house and the restaurant. The room was spotlessly clean and well equipped - with items such as a wall heater, electric blanket and hot water bottles provided. The outside garden seating was very pleasant. Great place to break up our journey home - and would thoroughly recommend.

Excellent restaurant on property. Clean room. Very comfortable bed and squeaky clean bedding. Electricity during Loadshedding, wifi & hot shower (gas) was awesome!

Privacy might be an issue if you don’t like strangers walking past your room, but there are block-out blinds. Restaurant is small so avoid disappointment and book asap with accommodation. Restaurant is expensive for locals but worth it.

We have recently stayed at La Sosta and I must say that it exceeded all my expectations. The room we stayed in was absolutely adorable - it was cosy, comfortable and had all the amenities one could ask for. The attention to detail in the room decor was impressive, making it the perfect retreat after a long day of exploring. What truly made our stay special was the restaurant at the property. The meals were some of the most delicious and intricate I've ever had - each dish was a true work of art, and every bite was an explosion of flavor in my mouth. I was blown away by the creativity and skill of the chefs. But what really set this property apart from the rest was the kindness and professionalism of Salvatore and Nina. You can see that they put their heart and soul in everything they make, which is something rare and beautiful. I cannot recommend this property enough - it's the perfect place for anyone looking for a cozy retreat with fantastic food and amazing hospitality. This B & B is run by an Italian/South African couple. They are kind, helpful and thoughtful people who have chosen to return to South Africa and make a life there with their little children. We found them refreshing as they did not constantly advise us NOT to walk at night etc like so many other B & B owners we stayed with. This couple appear to treat their staff (all of whom are excellent) particularly well. Our room was huge and quiet with plenty of storage. The bed was super comfortable and we had a massive walk in shower. We enjoyed our dips in the pool and lolling around in the garden. Swellendham and its surroundings are beautiful with lots of nature reserves to visit. La Sosta has an excellent restaurant and there are many other great eateries near by.

Nothing. We would definitely return to Swellendham and La Sosta. We were shocked that the museum covering local history has not sign posted the building about the many roles played by its black inhabitants. This building is also poorly maintained. A disgrace.

The rooms are cozy and clean. The breakfast was excellent: strong coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, and a choice of delicious menu items. Exceptionally professional and pleasant staff. Owners were delightful and truly cared about our comfort and stay. I cannot say enough about the on-site restaurant. We travel all over the world and we found the restaurant to be world-class: beautiful presentation, creative dishes, excellent wine list, knowledgeable and professional service, and plentiful entree combinations.
