Service was great and as usual staff friendly and helpful facilities were great and location was excellent! Room was cute and beds were very comfy, the pool area was fabulous to , a very easy 9/10

The only thing I could say was the access to the skybar by members of the public who weren't guests of the was a lil to easy , but I as I really can't blame them for wanting to be up there , I really am being picky for the sake of this question. I'd want to be up there myself and it can add to hotel not just financially but as part of its atmosphere generally provided they behave themselves and are respectful, which they were in general so it's really not a issue :)

Excellent location in a nice area, it felt safe compared to other areas. The staff were all very friendly. Stylish interior and bedrooms. We had a balcony overlooking the street but it was still quiet and were able to get a good night's sleep which was helped by comfortable beds and dark curtains.

It took a while to use the lift at times which is unavoidable considering how busy the hotel was. We tried to use the stairs instead but couldn't find them. The rooms are nice and compact and an extra chair would have been useful. In the bathroom a shelf for toiletries was missing and is a must have item in any bathroom. We thought we would be provided with slippers but there wasn't any. Overall not much to complain about and would recommend this hotel to anyone (open minded).

The Axel Hotel is located in the Eixample area of Barcelona. I like this neighborhood and all it has to offer. The hotel’s proximity to sites in the city is central. The building is an old city building with all the charm of old world with modern amenities. Beautiful stained glass enclosed balconies.

We stayed four nights and on the fourth day our Airconditioning stopped working. When I asked for maintenance to fix it while we were on a day excursion, we thought it would be taken care of. Apparently the maintenance person came, turned on the AC and didn’t wait a few minutes to see that it shuts off within a few minutes. So, maintenance left for the day and the front desk said that there wasn’t anything they could do. I threatened to check out if they didn’t change my room. They informed me that the only room they had was smaller and not a suite. I said I’ll take it. They moved us without any compensation for the downgrade or the inconvenience.

Air Conditioner in room was poor Elevators are very slow even though have 4 of them lots of time waiting on elevators. Room has no storage to unpack or store toiletries in bathroom. No shower hooks to hang towels. Disappointed that had to pay extra for use if sis and was only 1 hour usage. For room rates it should be included for guest.

I used Bookings.com to make my reservations. A family situation arose and I had to shorten my 9 night stay to 3. Bookings asked the hotel directly to consider at least a partial refund of the 6 days that I would not be there. They wrote, "We've asked Axel Hotel Barcelona & Urban Spa- Adults Only to make an exception for your reservation, and hope to have an answer for you shortly." Axel responded, "We are sorry to report that they are unable to make an exception in this case, and will charge the entire cancellation fee" I found this to be unkind and hoped that they would have been more understanding.

I really loved the location which was in a lively neighborhood, yet it was still quiet enough to get a good night sleep. Hotel is a historical building with it's own character and style, not one of those modern "boxes". I particularly enjoyed the rooftop pool area and the bar. Having those at the hotel was a good way to meet people and spend a good afternoon and have drinks in the evening before heading out. It seemed to me that the hotel penthouse bar overlooking the town was one of the hotspots of the area so it's very convenient to stay at the same building.

My room did not have a proper closet so minding the clothes on the open rack was somewhat tedious at times. But it was really rather a minor issue - definitely not a dealbreaker and happy to stay there again in the future!

I was given an upgrade upon check in. The room was very spacious, with lots of complimentary amenities. Bed was very comfy. The location of the hotel was excellent. Close to everything and a great location for taxi pickup. I love how the room cleaning is handled also. Between 9am-3pm if you leave your room and leave a sign on the door saying you want it cleaned, it will be cleaned within that time.

The thermostat had unusual settings. If you set it to your desired temperature you would have to specify whether you wanted to cool down or warm up. Your desired temperature didn't seem to matter, only whether you wanted to be warm or cool, but was not a major issue. A major issue for me however is there are no CLEARLY MARKED fire exits or stairs. To be clear, there are stairs and they are accessible but they are not clearly marked or highlighted and for the life of me I could not find the stair entrance on the ground floor. It's something that made me slightly uncomfortable in the hotel.

The location, gym facility, rooftop bar with little pool, the superior room had a decent size and the bed was very comfortable

I tried breakfast just one day as I didn't have a great experience in Axel2, and I regret to say that also for AxelEixample the quality of the buffet should be improved (the choice is ok, but nothing tastes great). I also didn't like the lightening of the gym, it gives such a gloomy mood, I was training and couldn't wait to leave that room. I prefer separate bathroom and an hidden shower, but I knew Axel embraces the open bathroom/shower area so I m not complaining about it. However it would be nice if the hotel would also offer some traditional rooms in case the client shares the room with just a friend or a newbie lover ;)

It was my first LGBT stay accommodation and totally exceeded my expectations. Roberto was very courteous and kind to upgrade my room upon arrival. Staff members were very pleasant and helpful. The location is also very central offering diverse cuisine options within walking distance. The famous Passeig de Gràcia is just a stone's throw away. I will certainly stay at the property on my future visit in Barcelona

Everything was just fine. Just the first day i arrived for breakfast at 10:50 (breakfast finish at 11) and the girl there already removed everything from the buffet. Usually the finish hour of breakfast is the moment hotel stops to refill it, but guests should be able to arrive until that moment and find food
