it is really excellent, exceptionally clean with beautiful furniture and bathroom. Honestly feels rather like 3 star. Was nervous about stairs but there is a nice elevator and carpets in the nice corridors which help lower noise. I never really heard the neighbours. It is 200m from La Rambla but dead quiet. I will definitely recommend it to friends and family.

I travelled alone and it is down a old gothic alleyway with no cars just pedestrian path the last 100 meters. So that was a little bit unnerving for a woman and affected the time I returned home, trying to be safe. A taxi cannot drive you right up however the balconies are just above and any shout for help can be heard or incident witnessed in the neighbourhood. Just a tiny issue because otherwise really nice hotel

Location! Close to la Rambla and La Barceloneta beach, also good connection to public transport and a lot of stores, restaurants and bars nearby.

The pillows could be better. Also a bit of smell coming from the shower drain.

We were happy that the location was near the sea and at the same time very close to the very popular 'La Rambla' where there are so many shops, bars and nightlife. It was important to us that the hotel was clean and welcoming and El Canton certainly is. It is not a luxury hotel but is of a very acceptable standard, imprtantly clean, well run and good value for its very competative price.

The feature of the room which my daughter and granddaughter were unsure of was the opaque glass door to the bathroom which was not lockable, but it turned out to be no problem really.

Excellent location, easy to walk to Las Ramblas and the seafront. Hotel is clean and safe, which for me is essential. Staff are really friendly. Bathroom is new and waterfall shower was lovely. My third time in Barcelona and this is definitely the best central ‘on-a-budget’ hotel I’ve stopped in. Excellent value.

The room wasn’t 100% soundproofed from city noise, but the windows were very heavy-duty and blocked out most of it. I still managed to sleep well, although I’d recommend having earplugs as a back up for light sleepers. No coffee in rooms, but there’s a machine in reception. Breakfast was just pastries so we didn’t eat there, but just a few minutes away is Mercado de La Boqueria which is just foodie heaven!! (Note it’s closed on Sundays)

sound insulation just ok, loud sound will be heard from streets or other rooms (but it was just few times, may be because the whole Barcelona was renewed - Feb 2024) Bathtub is good but the drain is not closed (perhaps just to economy the bills) Breakfasts are good but do not expect much for that price, it is fair and far more cheap if you spend for the same in the nearest cafes)

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the room in the hotel looked exactly like the pictures, that it was clean and very comfortable. We also really liked that it is close to some key points in the city, namely Placa Reial, La Rambla, the metro station, even Barceloneta beach. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We also liked the fact that the hotel provides a safe in the room for storing personal belongings (documents, money, etc.), as well as the fact that access inside the hotel is not accessible to everyone because after 11pm the hotel receptionists opened the door.

Breakfast is not very rich, but it is relatively sufficient for the first meal of the day.

PARKING + LOCATION. Finding any parking in Barcelona is a nightmare, let alone at a hotel. This is central, secure clean underground parking directly across the narrow street from the hotel in the Gothic Quarter. Brilliant. But then the hotel…small and quaint reception but with a lift! And beautiful, newly renovated rooms with a minibar and comfortable beds! And air conditioning! Don’t think twice if you will need parking and don’t want to pay for a ridiculously overpriced full service hotel. Well done, Hotel Cantón.

Nothing.

The property is exactly like in the pictures. Rooms are very clean and well equipped. The staff was very nice and welcoming. Location is amazing, just by La Rambla street and everything is in a walking distance, metro is close by as well as bus stations if you need them. I don't think there's a better location to stay at when you are visiting Barcelona for a couple of days. There wasn't much noise from outside. The hotel always has someone in the lobby so I felt safe knowing I can always contact someone if needed. All in all it was a great stay and we would surely come back when visiting Barcelona again.

A very nice hotel. The main entrance looks quite old, but the room was newly furnished, everything was very clean and comfortable. The shower was hot and new. It's a small room, but that's not uncommon in Spain. I was glad to have a heating radiator, because it was rather cold these days. There is also an a/c (which I didn't use, but I imagine it's great having one during hot summer days). The breakfast was good considering the price. The buffet doesn't have the variety of a 5 star hotel, but I didn't expect that. I had read the bad comments about the breakfast; I disagree, everything was fine to its standarss. It had two sorts of toast, croissants, two types of cakes, little donuts, cheese, ham, plain joghurt, apples and tangerines, one or two types of cereals. The coffee is real coffee coming out of a machine to choose between different coffees... and it tastes the same as in many other places in Spain, you might like it or you might not like it. But everything is there. About the staff, most of them were very friendly and helpful, one person didn't seem to be happy, but we all have these days every now and then. The location is great, close to restaurants, bars, the port area, rambla, metro stations, busses and so on.

It was an excellent value. The room was clean quiet and comfortable. The staff was friendly, spoke English and was above and beyond helpful. The location was good. There were so many shops, restaurants, clubs and everything needed within walking distance. Out of all of the places that we stayed through our travel a in Spain, this was my favorite. The only suggestion, it would’ve been nice to have a chair or two on the patio, but we were happy to have a patio space regardless. It was a nice bonus space.
