The location was perfect. It is in the prettiest part of Madrid, near the Puerta de Alcalá and a short distance from Cibeles. It is across from the Parque del Retiro and within short walking distance to the museums, restaurants, shopping, and metro. Both of our rooms were great, but the hotel was much more modern than I expected given the classical exterior of the building. The rooms had everything we needed for the week. The view from one of our rooms was good and, even though it faced another building, it had a tiny enclosed balcony that allowed us to step out to see up and down the small street below. Our second room had a pretty view of the tree-lined Parque del Retiro. The rooms were quiet, with blackout curtains for getting a good night's rest after being out late. The breakfast buffet was delicious and extremely varied. We had the same server every day and he always took good care of us. The front desk staff were also very helpful and even assisted us with items dropped off for us or to be picked up by others.

Since we had to attend several events, I had to iron our clothes but found that the tiny ironing board was of poor quality and impossible to use. I ended up ironing everything on the bed instead.

The location was perfect, right next to Retiro park, nearby Prado, botanical garden etc. Really lovely walks in the neighborhood. The hotel was clean and nice-looking. Room for 3 was well-sized. Breakfast was fantastic. You could order your eggs, omlette etc, there was plenty of choice and even fresh smoothies. I

The bathroom was not functional. Once you use the shower, the whole bathroom is flooded, including the toilet. Even if you try to be careful, its just designed in the worst imaginable way. I guess the bathroom also did not have a floor heating which means that in winter, it will be not only wet but also cold (the floor was literally flooded). Our room had the most unfortunate view - inside the hotel yard - its just a smelly small open space surrounded by walls on all four sides. When the window is open, there will be no breeze coming in, only kitchen and garbage smells.

The hotel is in a historic building in a great location, close to the city center and yet right at the entrance to the huge city park Retiro. The room we stayed in was very spacious, with a huge balcony across the entire width of the front of the building. I would also like to mention the exceptionally friendly staff.

The equipment in the room was quite outdated: the water in the shower sometimes took 10 minutes to warm up, the hairdryer and iron were not functioning very well. The breakfast was quite assorted, but we would like to see more vegetables and vegan dishes.

The location was excellent, we loved walking in the park and surrounding areas, it felt very safe; staff were so friendly from the moment we walked into the hotel and they were very helpful. Breakfast was amazing (the coffee was great although the coffee machine was rather slow, but not a major problem), but overall we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you to all the staff at the hotel, including the lovely lady that served us breakfast every morning. We shall definitely be going back and we have recommended the hotel to our friends.

Great location. Retiro Park just in the front. 5 min walk to Prado Museum. Helpful and nice reception. Modern facility inside Palace-style building. Very close to very downtown. Only 40 min walk to the Royal Palace. Modern, clean, big and convenient room. High ceilings like in a palace. Good central air conditioning, easy to control. Mini bar. Tea pot with tea and instant coffee.

No wine in the mini bar, only beer, water and chips. There is no real duvet cover, its likeness is made of sheets.

Good location although there are other Petit Palaces in Barrio Salamanca closer to shops etc.

Room and bed are small but OK. Very clean. Be careful not to fall for the breakfast discount trick and bear in mind that if you take 2 coffees they will charge you €17. Hot buffet items very poor (chistorra? for breakfast, low quality bacon, no fried egg or omelete option)

great location , opposite the park which is perfect for jogging. very close to the center of Madrid, restaurants, museums, just everything but still very quite & clean. for me it was the best location to stay, stuff where very friendly & helpful always with a smile. we checked in late at night just before midnight & there was no problems with that. bed is very comfortable & the shower was fab.

the reception area doesn't have a place to sit.... its not so comfortable. personally I don't like the smell of the place I`m sensitive in matters of smells.

Fantastic location opposite the Retiro gardens and 10 mins walk from the Prado, the hotel itself is in a very elegant old building, but modernised, beautifully appointed and very quiet. The buffet breakfast offered a huge range and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

Nothing could have been better -- an excellent hotel and Madrid itself is gorgeous; the boulevards are so broad and grand, it makes London (and even Paris!) feel cramped by comparison.

Corner view of the park, window opening to the city sounds and cool air. Every thing worked, room service thorough, waterfall shower, which was lovely after trekking in the desert. Breakfast was great, it included fresh fruit and the chef cooked especial foods that were lactose free. Good range of breads, pastries, juices. Hotel staff recommended some close by fabulous tapas places and the meal at the hotel restaurant was fresh and delicious. Hotel staff were extremely helpful with directions for local transport and location of nearby sites and Post Office.

The room we chose was high up, with a lovely view to Retiro park andthe attractive buildings oppositeThe room was pleasant and the shower room was spacious. The breakfast was brilliant, great choice, nicely displayed.

Good to have a kettle and choice of tea bags, no decaf, but 2 tiny pots of milk only- for 2 people, bit stingy? I expect more for the price. Initial pot of drinking water is free, but subsequent in the mini bar, overpriced.
