All the staff in the hotel across all departments, including in the breakfast room, restaurant, Cocktail lounge were professional, attentive, friendly and helpful. Even a member of staff in the breakfast room sincerely apologise to us for the language of another customer. The front desk staff including the concierge were outstanding in their welcome, willingness to help and to sort out taxis etc for us. We had some unusually requests, them storing large cardboard bike boxes until our return 7 days later, helping us move bikes and bike boxes around the hotel. Staff did not bat and eyelid at these requests and they all supported us with great enthusiasm and positivity. On our second visit, seven days later we were again welcomed with conviviality. The hotel itself is like an oasis with views of the Catedral from its well manicured gardens and within easy walking distance from the old parts of the city. It was our most favourite hotel over our two week trip on the Camino.

Range of meals in the restaurant could be better offering more variety.

Taxi ordered with late notice (on my part) for early morning and hotel relationship with taxi company were able to fulfil my late notice booking. So grateful. The hotel is in a quiet area and with walking shoes a comfortable distance from the main area of town. Wonderful walk options to town around 10-15min walk through large park, to either side of Cathedral. Good location for upscale hotel

Nothing bad to add. We were fine to go to town for breakfast. Coffee available in room. We didn't purchase hotel breakfast during our stay

This was not our first time in Hotel Palacio del Carmen and we really wanted to be back in this lovely and tasty hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and well furnished, there is just everything that you need. We will certainly come back.

Just as we arrived a bus load of pilgrims arrived and occupied the lobby. Fortunately a gentleman at the reception took great care in welcoming us and did not make us wait at all for our room. I would have preferred a better view of the garden as we had last time but as said it was a busy period, so I fully understand

Breakfast is great. Beds and room generally good. Beautiful grounds and buildings

Dinner was not great. Service great but food lowest quality we experienced in Europe. "Veal Knuckle" was pot roast; Sauce on shellfish was too much and did not taste great. Doors to closets made unnecessary loud banging noise when closed. Despite thermostat with "heat" setting, and radiator in bathroom, front desk reports "we do not have heat" Nights/AMs were pretty cool the days we stayed there.

Set right on the edge of the town and an easy walk to the Cathedral, the hotel is in a lovely, quiet area, with views onto gardens and trees. Friendly check in, underground garage with free parking, good breakfast and big bath - all made it a lovely stay.

The restaurant didn't open until 2030 (yes, I understand this is very Spanish) but they couldn't offer us anything substantial to eat until 2100/2130 and there didn't seem to be a room service menu, other than the cold dishes on the main dining room à la carte menu. We'd had quite a long drive and in the end had a snack at a local bar and gave up on dinner!

No coffee/ tea making facilities in room. A bit further from town than was depicted. It was a 15 minute walk not 5.

The room was spacious and the bed and pillows comfortable. Location is excellent, only a short walk from the town centre. Parking facilities are great and the restaurant is excellent with very efficient service.

There were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, although advertised. Breakfast was good but not excellent in that there were no eggs available at all. The indoor pool was rather cold and this made swimming unpleasant.

The hotel is within walking distance from the main square (10 minutes on foot, going slightly uphill). The breakfast is superb, the best we've had in our trip. Parking underground is for free and the road to the hotel is large, unlike the narrow streets in the city center.

My partner and I stayed one night on our way back to Portugal from the Galician coast. The room was a bit dated but the location was very nice, next to a quaint walking trail alongside a stream.

Rooms were a bit dated, morning desk staff was ultimately accommodating but a bit surly about a miscommunication around breakfast, and the pool was a bit cold when we went swimming. Ultimately a nice property that could use a bit of a refresh.

Rooms were very comfortable, we had breakfast and it was very good, lots of choice. I celebrated a big birthday while there and the staff facilitated ballon’s and buntin been used. They were very nice.

The bathroom, glass doors with no privacy. Also, the indoor pool is very cold and not very large.
