I stayed here twice for 5-7 days apiece while up in Kandy in February and March, and will probably stay again at some point. Yes, there are ants in the bathrooms as other reviews mention, and not all of the wall sockets seem to have power, but otherwise it's pretty clean and well maintained. If you don't mind the above (I don't), Dumbara offers great rates for a centrally located and reasonably clean and comfortable place to stay, with functional AC. You can walk to the train, restaurants, and most downtown sightseeing spots in minutes. Great views from the rooftop cafe, too.

I booked this hotel to watch kandy Asala perahara. My mother could not stand that long so teh owner Thilanka arranged us the room in second floor. Staff helped my mother to climb upstairs. We had a good view of the perahara as promised. Food in the upper flow restaurent was very good as well. Staff are friendly.

Someone one sneaked o our roon. he may be not from a staff. we lost small bag. it is perhaps there are lot of people were sitting in front of the hotel and it was difficult to access.

the location, in the centre of the city lot of useful and interesting g places in walking distance. the room and birth room were basic but very clean with good quality bed and air con. very good value for money and the gentleman running it was very helpful.

wasn't a problem for me but it the Rooms are up a fairly. steep set of concrete stairs so not recommended for anyone with mobility issues.

Great location in the center of Kandy. Within walking distance of the Temple of the Tooth Relic and a beautiful lake. Responsive friendly staff. We organized a trip to the Ambuluwawa tower and the botanical garden. On the top floor there is a restaurant with delicious breakfasts. Laundry can be done at the hotel. Thanks for the hospitality!

Very central location, close to everything. Clean standard rooms and the owner was so helpful as we had a tuk tuk and needed to find parking.

Reaching my room takes skills of mountain climbing and obstacle course. The low beams at the staircase, be careful with those. I almost hit my head if I didn't notice at the last moment and ducked. TV is not working

Hot water pressure and location

Stairs are very difficult, and I stayed 5 nights and booked two rooms at that time. The housekeeping team didn't come to clean the room. Also, check-out time hotel staff didn't come to help to take our luggages...

The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting kandy while Esala Perahera. Clear view from roof top. The delicious food. Highly recommended

The room was nice with strong hot water supply. Located in the town center so most of notable places are within a walking distance. Got a rooftop bar with nice view and good vibe.

Must take the stairs to enter the property which's located on 2F. Ones with mobility limitation should consider.
