I had an amazing experience at Langholmen Hotell in Stockholm. Staying in a former prison that is designed like a prison was a truly unusual and fun experience. The hotel is located on Langholmen Island, with the Hornstull metro station just a 10-minute walk away. It's also possible to enjoy a scenic walk along the seaside road to reach the city center, offering breathtaking views. Despite the small area, the rooms were very comfortable, clean, and well-equipped. The 24-hour reception was convenient for ordering coffee and other essentials. The breakfast offered a wide variety of options and was simply amazing. Additionally, I loved that there was a beach nearby where I could swim and relax. I highly recommend this unique hotel for an unforgettable stay in Stockholm.

This place is full of character (in a good way!). It has been beautifully restored and the prison theme is tastefully carried out. The cell doors to the rooms are a bit daunting at first but that's part of the novelty and charm. There is a little museum which shows the state of the former prison before it was renovated. The breakfast was pretty good. Lots of variety. There is a little beach and bouyed off swimming area close by. There was a nice little bar where you can have a cask or bottled beer. It's just as expensive as anywhere else in Sweden. Our room looked out on to the 'exercise yard'.

Some of the staff seemed a bit flustered and unfriendly, but perhaps they were just having a bad day.

Fabulous location on peaceful, beautiful Langholmen island. I wanted a peaceful end to a busy trip to Sweden. For me it was a chance to explore Stockholm but also relax, after a fun but busy time visiting friends in other parts of Sweden. This was perfect! Loved it. The old prison was really well converted, to keep the old building and features, but make a quirky, comfortable place to stay. There were some good seating areas and nooks to relax as well. And a great terrace, I really enjoyed eating breakfast and dinner there.

Maybe the beds could have been a bit firmer, but they were fine. I slept really well.

The room is quite clean, not super big but for a short stay it is more than enough. Bathroom is very well equipped and the shower is quite good. Reception was very helpfull and worked 24/7. Breakfast was very good, it is well worth including that in the stay. Lots of options and alternatives to any one with restrictions.

My room was located in the first floor, right past the reception. The room is not so well sound isolated (which is expected), so I could hear pretty much everything going on on the corridors... it was a bit disturbing, but not a big problem. My friend got the upper floors and did not complain at all, so maybe it was only on the ground floor. There is a glass door in between the reception and this first floor accomodations, perhaps keeping that close at all times could help diminish the problem.

I loved the quirky, unusual nature of this hotel and its location on a beautiful, peaceful island in the heart of Stockholm. The 'cells' have been sensitively converted in a way that provides modern comforts while acknowledging their origins and the thick prison walls provide good noise and temperature insulation. I wouldn't recommend the top bunk for anyone with mobility issues, but I slept very well in mine - it helped that I brought a sleep mask with me, as it never really gets dark in midsummer. The buffet breakfast was very tasty and if you fancy an evening meal, the restaurant serves truly gorgeous food - just remember to book ahead.

I would have liked a small kettle. I realise that space is limited, but it would have been nice to have had simple tea making facilities in the rooms, rather than just in the reception. Also, there was no shampoo in the bathroom. However, these are minor quibbles.

Breakfast was fantastic! Plus! Peaceful, delicious, loved the different location available to eat and the selection was fabulous. We will stay here every time we come to Sweden. We loved it! Loved the opportunity to purchase the prison dress shirt, pants and cap. That was cool and added to the novelty of the hotel and the theme. Having a guard walk us to our room in handcuffs (or having gag handcuffs to purchase for photos and such would have been phenomenal). Our trip was truly enhanced by this experience.

Historical pictures or some history items on the walls to go along with the artwork would be a nice enhancement for those of us interested in some historical facts about the prison or prisoners would have been cool, but frankly we were so impressed as it was and the ambience of the hotel was so refreshing and having the beach so closer with walking paths to enjoy the beauty tripped our senses. Thank you!

Very nice and clean hotel in an old prison building. The rooms are original cells which is definitely something different and pretty cool. You can tell your friends you slept in a prison cell. The breakfast buffet in the morning is excellent with a huge selection. The location is very nice on a small island and you can walk to the beach just across from the hotel or explore the island along various paths. Just 15 min walk to the train station to go into the city.

The concept and interior of the hotel are exceptional and offer an unique experience. The breakfast was excellent and left nothing to be desired. Free parking is available directly at the hotel. We are definitely staying here again at our next trip to Stockholm.

No criticism, just a point to consider in advance: a standard double room corresponds to the size of an actual prison cell and is therefore rather small. With hand luggage and for short stays this is absolutely no problem, but for longer stays or with a large suitcase it could be cramped.

We liked the idea converting a former prison into a hotel. The small details were hilarious, for example the guillotine shaped mirror, the daily routine of the prisoners, etc. The island itself is also very beautiful at night, we've had a nice walk from the central station (not that near, but for us was a great program to walk). Hotel staff was exceptionelly nice, helpful and polite, everything went pretty smoothly. The room was cosy, we did not miss a thing. They don't give you mineral water in a bottle, you get a small card that states that Stockholm tap water is excellent - it is true! Bedding was really comfortable, we've had a relaxing sleep. I've contacted the staff in andvance because of my celiac disease (have to eat gluten free, even a breadcrumb can cause trouble). Jaana greeted me in the morning at the restaurant, she was informed and well prepared for my needs. She personally prepared my breakfast and assured my that she could fix everything for me. A big thank you for her, never experienced such a warm welcome and that level of thoughtfullness. My husband loved the home made nutella, it was the best he ever tried. If we ever come back to Stockholm, we will definitely choose this hotel to stay.

Even though it was declared and I accepted it, in reality location appeared to be a bit far from the city centre. It took 45 min appr. to take to the needed places by foot or 15 minutes to the metro and 15 minutes more by it. It didn’t make my stay worse but just general notice if you want to save your time and money
